Salish Sea Woodworks - Niseko Walnut Trestle Dining Table
I work in a transmission shop and I’m going through a pair of shoes every 3 months. Do you think these would be good for me?
@@DillionSteinman I would think so yeah, I’ve been rotating between these and their Marin higher boot depending on the need and they’ve held up well. I think the Marin is more supportive and a little softer sole it feels like. But the Ryng has the safety toe and is a low top.
Most comfortable jeans I ever wore
Absolutely, I’ve been really impressed with the quality of the products and customer service
Do the pants have a crotch gusset?
@@Oreomeister yep, the Covert pants have a diamond gusset on the crotch.
I’m looking at Tru-Werks T-1’s but these sound good too. Finding good pants is so hard. Any thoughts on Tru-werk vs these?
@@AlexanderHonsVonEbersure! I’ve had a number of the T-1 pants and they were pretty good. A couple of differences between the two. The T1 has more variation in pockets like a pencil slot and such, and the Covert has the standard leg pockets with gussetted zippers. The Covert had a reinforced tool/knife clip holder on the right side, the T1 has double fabric on both. The clip reinforcement on the covert is better, but is only on the right. The material on the Covert is heavier and more cut resistant for sure, the T1 is nice but much lighter weight and thinner (think like a little be heavier than a wind breaker). The fit on the Covert is much better, 4 way stretch and a little more material in the seat/quads but straight from the knee down. The T1 feels straight the whole length so looks quite a bit more baggy than the Covert, which fit closer to the body than the T1. Style wise I think the Covert looks a lot better due to this fabric shape. I actually got ride of all my T-1 as they were pretty destroyed in a couple years of use. Hope this helps!
@@salishseawoodworks1302 thanks!!!

What is that exterior color called and by whom? It looks nice.
Thanks! Its "Enduring Bronze" by Sherwin Williams.
Congrats Jack! 🙌🫵💪👊 Now going to IG to comment there 😂
lol thanks!
Sizing?
I found the sizing chart accurate on the website which has conversions for inches waist to whole size (S-XXL)
great review, man. Thank you!
Yep! Hope it helps!
Do your heels feel somewhat loose when walking in these? I just got mine the other day and no matter how tight I make them they feel loose in the heel area. Did you have this issue?
I did after a while yes, I covered this in my other review of their Marin boots. I ended up sizing down on those and was better. I still have issues with the laces not staying tight.
@salishseawoodworks1302 thank you. Yeah regardless of that issue their still comfortable
Hey man any update on the boots? Are they still holding up?
Hey Hunter - I need to do another video, but generally yes they're holding up well. I don't wear them very often for work, so I can't speak to their durability unfortunately. I usually just wear them when working around the property or even just out socially with the family since the are a nice looking boot. They're still comfortable and broken in well, but still have the same annoyance with the laces not staying tied unless double locked. There have been some people on YT who have longer, more ruggedly tested reviews on the jobsite for 60hrs a week and have some feedback about durability over time so maybe check those out if youre looking for a heavy duty workboot to get more details on that testing. I wear my Ryng low boots from Brunt daily in the shop and those have held up very well. I wear those since I dont really need high ankle support in the furniture shop. I think if you're looking for a comfortable boot to use for some medium duty at a reasonable price point, they would be good. If you're in a trade or looking for a boot for the worksite everyday, might check out some other reviews. I can't recommend them for super duty use really since I haven't tested them that way unfortunately.
@@salishseawoodworks1302 thanks! I ordered some yesterday. I appreciate the honesty.
i work in a production company alot of standing on concrete for 8 to 12 hours daily..
Is this a good shoe for walking on roofs?
I don't do any roof work, but I've been very happy with the durability and the tread on the boot. Its got great traction and support. Only thing it doesn't have is really any ankle support, if thats something you want. They make the Ryng in a full size, and I also did a review of their new Marin boot here: ruclips.net/video/VbkNbAQNcr4/видео.html
Thanks for a very informative review. I've been straddling the fence about a purchase. I'm sold!!!
Awesome, glad you found it helpful! They're working great for me!
Very helpful thank you brother ❤️

$18 in Shaper Tape lol
Lol, eh only about 1/2 a roll so $9. Better $9 in tape than $600 in walnut
This looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing - question for you, how straight are the cuts over these distances, I’m curious about the accuracy on larger scales like this. Thank you for your thoughts
Great shop! Thanks for the tour and subbed!
Thanks so much for checking it out and thanks for subscribing!
Nice shop! Try to reduce the number of times you say “uh”.
Thank you! Yes, I’m working on that, struggled with that since I taught at our University.
Nice shop tour, I particularly like your sander/hose set up and I think I'll use something like that at my recently completed work bench. Regarding work benches, have you regretted having such a shallow tool well in yours? Cheers, R
Thank you! That would work great - the original inspiration for the sander holder was actually not mounted to the wall, but there were treaded inserts in the side of the bench so it could be attached and removed when sanding. I haven't had too many issues with the tool well - I use it mostly as a place to prevent rolling of tools, screws or other small items when working. I will put my chisels through the dog holes (since they go entirely through the bench) if needed. On my next bench I plan to do a full 8ft split-top roubo so plan to use the traditional tool well insert there. Thanks for watching!
@@salishseawoodworks1302 You've inspired me to build a swinging door underneath the overhang of my vise on my bench to hold my sander and hose.
Thanks for the shop tour Jack. I’m a full-time woodworker out of Fredericksburg Virginia, I really enjoy seeing others shop organization when you’re working your business daily. It’s so important to workflow. Thanks for sharing! 👊
Thanks so much - yeah I completely agree. If you thinking about how you flow through the job it makes placing your tools much more effective and efficient in the space!
Well equipped shop! Having that 16' headroom must be nice.
Thanks Greg! Definitely helps, especially moving larger pieces around!
Awesome tour man. Getting the most out of your space for sure brother. Great video.
Thanks man! Now I just gotta get even more creative so I can get some new tools haha
Wayta make use of the smaller space!!
Thanks Tyler! Definitely have to get creative.
Very cool. Working on setting up a very similar size shop of my own, though mine is an octagon shape. Nice to see that all the necessary tools can fit in a space that size!
Thanks Alex! Hope this helps give you some ideas! I think you can get a lot of functionality out of a small space if you’re creative with layout.
