Keeping a bunch of slaves your whole life and then freeing them once you can no longer personally benefit from them doesn't really seem that great Like, you could have freed them at literally any point prior instead of exploiting them for years Hell, being the President of the US, you could also just have abolished slavery if you actually had a problem with it, instead of supporting the legal institution for the economic benefit. You really only had to talk to a slave at any point in history to know what was wrong with it, if "I don't want to be enslaved, other people probably don't either" isn't something you can reach on your own

She was at the bottom of the stairs with probably no exit out. He was also injured and their no way she could support herself up so he'd either have to carry her or she leans her full weight on him while hopping on one foot up the stairs which could make them both fall.
