a hike up to Landroskop hut in the summer sun with some cooling off in the mountain streams along the way. We started up the jeep track from nuweberg forestry station and came down via the sphinx route trail the next day.

Maltese cross and Sneuberg Peak (Cederberg Hike)

I joined a hiking group on a hike to the Maltese cross in the cederberg mountains (South Africa). We also climbed to the top of Sneeuberg peak, which is the highest peak in the cederberg mountains. By the time we got close to the peak of Sneuberg, it was quite late already, but luckily we got some help and we made it to the top and got down just before dark.

Lekker video. I was diving same day closer in to the shore. The area is a bit thin with the Kreef last few seasons. You need to get a lekker pair of gloves ...eina. Good luck for easter weekend session. Jy moet by die sunset reef einde wireless road gaan probeer. Daar is nog a paar mooi Bugs te kry. Thanks for sharing.

The colour of the water in the river comes from the tannins in the fynbos (plant type) that grows in the mountains in the western cape. Tannins are the same stuff that makes tea look brown. So in effect, we are swimming in a kind of mountain tea :D. It is not unhealthy at all.😀

I'm heading that way , starting from Algeria on the 23rd. So stoked , how technical is the hike up sneeuberg itself?
Nice! Its not very technical if you know where to go. The big issue comes in with straying off the path. It is not always apparent where the right route is, so you might end up climbing up a dangerous cliff. As you can see in the video there is about 2 spots where you have to pull yourself up on to a ledge (or have someone help you) and one spot where you wedge your back and feet up a crack. The only thing pointing out the route is beacons (piles of stones).
