They call me Juan. I live in London. I love motorcycles and I've been riding non stop since quite young. This channel is a place to share some of my ridings. Those that I think are nice and worth to share with others, so they might also enjoy them.
What equipment am I using for my off-road trip through ACT Portugal and TET Northern Spain?

Hola. Cuantos kilómetros tiene la Tiger? Has tenido algún problema con ella? La has dejado preciosa. Gracias.
Tiene unos 40k KM. No he tenido problemas, a parte de tener que cambiar antes aquellos componentes que sufren un desgaste adicional debido al uso off road. Gracias.
Great set-up👍
I’m not sure if there was fighting here, but I imagine soldiers slogging through during the civil war.
It’s sad, but it will grow back. We had bad fires in the mountains here 3 years ago and now you can barely tell, it’s amazing how resilient nature is.
A very, uh, measured? start to this race. 🙂
😍
Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to do it myself too. Cheers
Thank you for sharing that I rode none of the expert sections so interesting to see what I missed out on, but on 80/20 tyres and never ridden a motorcycle off-road before that weekend it was awesome fun and meant I got home again with bike and bones intact. Same again next year but with better tyres.
Good memories. You missed the 1st expert section very near the start as most of us did 1st lap or 2
Good video!!!
I was thinking of taking my multi enduro on here, I wish I did now . Great video
Was gonna have a go at it but i think my bike is too heavy for me. Stayed on the main trail, weather was brilliant whole weekend.
'Without' Expert sections, I missed a couple of them this year, wanted to see if I should have had a go (wiped out after the stream crossing last year)
Wish I'd had a go at it now, looks alright, what day was this? did the mud section get worse?
It was an excellent trail, I did it on the Thursday but had problems with my old bike and couldn't do anymore so it is great to watch it over. Thank you.
What were the staff like
@@knfc89 they were fine, not in your face and helpful with dropped bikes
Yea all the staff were ok, help you when you needed and knew the course
You know you have no insurance on these trails.. so don't break your bike!
@@CapelAdventurer I’m aware and go into it with eyes wide open, you can get specialist insurance or just fork out for the bits you break
Yawn
Just get your bike to a road section and tell them you did it there 🤷🏼♂️
looks good. weather look it hold out.
Missed the right turn expert section through the woods and water crossing , I accidentally took this as a novice on 70% road tyres and almost got stuck 😂
@@paulh617 yeah was thinking the same, that one is really easy to miss!
Looks decent enough - how far around is it...?
@johnstilljohn3181 according to the festival organization 8 miles.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Think you missed a few expert sections
@XanderHurley when we rode this lap, due to a crash, some parts of Bridgestone trail were closed. Rode the other Expert sections on Saturday, but didn't have chance during this lap.
@@theicebike ah no worries was hoping to see what they were like as I too missed them 🤣
It was fun if very dusty toward the end!
@@XanderHurleyI the water crossing was OK with momentum, but the mud on the exit was very slidey! I was also watching to see how he did! 😂
Onde é que conseguiram o trajeto?
Bike ❤️
Nice 👌
glad your ok. nice job getting it up and going again
looking forward for the episode 2 ! and many more !!!
So beautiful
finally same bike.!! Is it okay to connect the adv controller directly to the battery? Are there any concerns about discharge? or install another?
I do NOT recommend the Carpe Iter ADV controller. Quality is very poor, it’s NOT water proof. A jet wash will get water inside. If you read the specs you’ll see it does NOT have any IPX rating, and they basically say that you have to trust their word in terms of waterproofness. Likewise, customer service is the worst I’ve ever seen. They will even reply to you with ironic messages trying to make fun of the situation. After so many problems, and terrible and very unprofessional customer service response, I took off the Carpe Iter ADV controller, threw it away, and moved to the ARN Remote Pro. I had zero problems with this controller, and I regret zero. Super good quality, and a top customer service support.
@theicebike omg... really? do not omg!
You missed the Lagoon " Tapada " In Mina de São Domingos where you start the vídeo. I have been here for a couple weeks with a Tenere. Enjoy your ride.
Thank you @Mike.4639
Looks like fun! :)
Hi, I was there two weeks after you. Did you go threw the roman bridge or did you skip it? Great video.
hi, you had to turn around in ^;14 on this video. where about is this? as i am doing this track next month. thanks
Not sure where that was, but it was due to temporary forest work. As I rode this 6 months ago, I’m pretty sure the forest work have been already completed. Good luck on your ride of the ACT Portugal.
@theicebike thanks my friend. Another question at what time did you depart from Gaviao and at what time did you reach Moura?
@Adventurebikeridersgib I usually departed each day around 8AM, and getting to destination around 5-6PM. You need to consider that you’ll lose 1-1.5 hours stopping for having a meal, topping up your camel back, and for some other needed things. Day 4 has quite fast trails, with mostly easy terrain. Day 4 is way far the easiest one. It’s 285km, but you’ll ride it at fast speed on wide easy trails mostly. Day 5 is the same, until you reach the Algarve for the last 80km or so, which is a non stop of up and downs, very demanding physically.
@@theicebike great stuff!! Thanks for your advice my friend!!!
Bela rota! O som assoviado da Tiger é uma música!
Beautiful country side.Looked a little sandy in places.
Good looking ride on a good bike.Cheers.
Thank you
Well done! Looking at doing ACT on my tiger from the UK. Looks quite tricky in sections.
Yes @TimZ750, some sections are tricky, specially days 1, 2 and 3, but it’s a fantastic experience. Good luck on your ride. We might cross paths. This summer I’ll do days 3,2 and 1, but this time south to north and then TET in the north of Spain from Ponferrada to Potes.
The problem with big adv. They only good for showoff and longrides. A 150 honda could have done that easily lol.
Try to ride in a Honda 150 from Bilbao to the North of Portugal (300km), cross Portugal off road North to South (1200 km), and return back to Bilbao from Tavira (1000km). On top of that, 30kg luggage 😉
Even on camera this climb looks extremely steep, so in reality it should be a monster! Well done!
Thank you
The tiger 900 is a triple cylinder, which isn’t good for slow technical riding. Single or Duel cylinders will stall less in technical riding at slow speeds.
Man that thing looks big..
Nice❤. Do you have a track maybe in wikilock?
@martinike123 I don't know if the tracks are on wikilock. You can download them from ACT website, but please bear in mind that since around couples of year ago, you need to be member and pay a subscription for it -> adventurecountrytracks.com/portugal/
Really appreciate seeing this. The professional reviews would edit out that stall.
Keep your throttle steady when going through water and you’ll never stall
I wonder Is the rally with extra travel more comfortable on highway than the GT with less travel?
They are both awesome on the highway, depends on if you have a Pro or not that would make the biggest difference
@@jonathanvallely6598Rally is the Pro
my Africa Twin wouldn't even been bothered slowing down for that wittle puddle😎😂😂
The 900 is 35 pounds lighter than your AT.
This bike wasn’t bothered either 😅
I cant' see anything on the video at all, your hands or the buttons. Are you pressing with your left hand? I'll read your words and see if I can figure it out. Are you scrolling through the menu?
It’s also explained the details for the workaround on the description of the video.
Propaganda and reality are two different things. These bikes are not designed for it; they are meant for long trips with some off-road capabilities. In such situations, a smaller bike would perform much better, such as the MTs 250 or CRE 300.
I agree with you but sometimes when your country riding you run into obstacles you don't expect..Knowing it's capable of pulling it off is a good thing..
Nice run out. May I ask what tyres you have?
Thank you. It’s in the video’s description. Tyres are Anakee Wild. Very good tyre.
Looks similar to Utah
Thanks for reminding me of what the middle of nowhere looks like. And the great thing is that one doesn't even need to look for a tree. With nobody around, one can take a piss right there in the middle of the road whilst looking at the scenery with the sunshine and warm breeze in one's face without any stress or interruption.
