Same
Thanks for this. I'm an older entry into this arena, and just starting with rifles (.22LR for now) and ultimate aim to get my little fella excited about hunting, tramping & camping, so super useful to see what people are taking. We'll start with some camping and walks (next month), progress to small game hunt and then hopefully larger from there. Cheers a lot. EDIT: specif makes and models of your gear in the video description (where you don't mention in the video) would help us newbies track down and research online :) For example, which specific Kathmandu mattress do you use?
Hey mate don't worry, I'm actually looking at doing an updated full pack dump very soon. I'll make sure to be more specific!
Hi Jurgen, thank you for sharing your adventure, as a fellow NZ hunter I it insightful. I'm a Sth Island hunter in my retirement years, getting up to the Nth Island is doubtful! While you are sadly not sponsored, it is always interesting to know the make and calibre of a rifle, plus the distance an animal is shot from. Keep up the videoing and your adventures. By the way, love your dog 🙂
One of the best hunting channels I have come across. Bloody awesome keep up the great work. 12 days of food, now that's an awful lot of noodles bro !
You capture the essence of why so many of us hunt just perfectly. There are many hunters filming their adventures, however yours is refreshingly different. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks mate!
were did you get your arrows
Arrowhead archery is a good place mate!
Your dedication to filming and telling stories is incredible. Favorite hunting channel by far. Looking foward to more recurve hunts.
Epic video man 🤙
Dope video. I just got back from Alaska and got myself a nice carribu. Now, after seeing you're video im planning my trip to New Zealand in may
Sounds great man! Flick us a message on insta if ya Want any tips
Radagast the Brown!
"These are rustabell rabbits, I'd like to see them try" hahaha
Stuff mate! I miss NZ already and I spent all of May over there 😂
Mate this is some top quality shit. That shot at 15:45 … holy hell. Bloody tough conditions to be in too. Mad respect from Queenstown!!
And the outro title broooooother I feel like I just watched a Tarantino movie
Hahaha thanks!
Thanks mate!
Excellent video, great pairing with the music but I had to pause at 13:52 to ask why you don't use a suppressor. It will save your hearing as well as Kim's. I wouldn't be without mine!
Ive used a suppressor my entire life and the unfortunate truth is that they still damage your hearing, you just less inclined to pit in hearing protection. So pretty much recently I've been working on the theory that if it doesn't have a suppressor I will remember to put in hearing protection.
@@strider_media fair enough. Yeah I've been considering getting some electronic ear plugs so that I can just leave them in the whole time that I hunt. My hearing has taken a bit too much damage from music so I need to look after it too.
Stunning video mate. A perfect portrayal of such an amazing location - The Kaimanawa Ranges. Itching to get back in there. Keep it up mate, loved the post production work. Gives me something to work towards 👊
Thanks a ton!
Nice vid and nice bull. May I ask, what happened to the skis? ⛷️
Another tale for another time I recon
Two thumbs up mate 😊
How do Tahr and Chamois rate as table fare? What parts are always eaten?
Good man! Tahr is really its own kind of thing. Like beef crossed with lamb I like to say. Chamoisis alot like venison. Backstraps as always are the best. Gotta try it mate!
@@strider_media Got to get there first! Lol. It's in the works but will be a few years.
Another great video mate. I’ve been loving my SG pack too.
leave them alone
Hey it'd be great to have a discussion, my Instagram is strider_media. Many nuances to the subject of hunting and id love to share my perspective too.
@denisrichardson3260 do you realise that Tahr are considered a pest by many in NZ? The government spends big $$ every year to shoot/cull them from helicopters to keep their numbers down.
Why no sleeping mat? Some great camera shots in this video.
A little toughness can save alot of weight sometimes haha
Awesome video cheers dude.
What pack are you repping?
Weight wise I'm honestly couldn't say. Around 18-21kg more than likely
Lovely video. Whats in Kims bag?
Just her food, hate carrying it haha
Just found your channel. I have to be up at 5am for a meeting and I can see that your videos are about to screw that 'early night' up royally! ;-) Mate I create videos for clients for a living and I REALLY enjoyed this one. You have a DRASTICALLY under-appreciated channel, so don't get disheartened (like I do) - keep at it - because this was lush! 🙂
Thank-you mate! That means the world! I will!
Really nice video mate. Super helpful for a newb like me, who is getting excited about 'gearing-up', but at the same time, recalling all the back-packing I've done around the world, which makes me think "Steady on, big fella - remember the weight"! LOL! Very nice use of b-roll that you cut-away to. This is rare in hunting videos and shows some good basis in video production that makes you stand out and will see your channel grow, for sure. I wish you all the best! 🙂
Thanks again mate!
I must say you do a magical job in post production. I really feel like i am along on the hunt with you.
Very poetic, thank you so much for letting us share in the adventure!
A peace comes over my soul- beautiful. Thats how all true hunters should feel in the wilderness.
Thankyou for portraying our country so poetically. The classic 303 and swani reference was as magic as your filming. Thanx so much.
Thanks!
I am a kiwi. Hunting public land in New Zealand is not easy but our country is paradise and if you’re prepared to put some serious grunt in it is so rewarding!
Hunting public land is so easy it's not much of a challenge to find animals. Some species are difficult due to the sheer number of eyes & ears. While more silly ones are out there, there are still plenty that don't like people and that have been shot at. This video shows wandering about walking a rifle & dog in open easy country, having a few looks around & still bumping into deer.
@@johnmead8437 great that its easy in your backyard. Im in Nelson and our deer numbers aren’t high. Lota fun goats for curry
Incredible video man
Glad you liked it stranger
Your videos are superb man! Very cool places you get to hunt
Thank you very much!
Nice in there for sure good work bro
Inspirational bro. Such beatiful places you have for yourself and Kim.
Great video, keep them up.
Thanks, will do!
Awesome
A spectacular area to hunt. I looked up that forest on the DOC. One could walk for days and not see the same ground twice.
Thank you. Nice sentiments and beautiful photography.
Excellent video as always
Awesome mate 👌 A mate and I came over from Aus and hunted stags in the Kaimanawas a few years back. Awesome place!
Just realised where you were. I used to hunt up there quite a bit . Awesome country
Awesome
Far out, best video so far bro
I want to come on a bow mission! Another epic adventure mate
One of the best most real hunting RUclips channels there is.
Thanks mate!
Good watch as always, Cant wait for the vid. 👍👍👍
Glad to see you and Kimi are back. Hope you had a good time in the USA
I’ve always enjoyed your videos. Cool choice of music. 😊
Kim taking a bite of snow is cool!
Nice cinematic shots and angles. Very difficult and time consuming solo. And leave with bag of meat. Well done mate!
