    I got a baby ceph in the mail today and I'm torn mainly about the watering lmao The nursery california carnivores says to top water and not tray water, someone else told me to top water if the pot is shallow and to bottom water if it's tall, so I'm kinda torn on what's best for it lmao It's in what looks like 50/50 peat and perlite so, maybe the substrate you have can change its watering needs? 🤔

    • @plantlifeforever6994
      @plantlifeforever6994 Год назад

      There’s so much advice online it’s hard to know! Mine is in quite a tall pot, but I hadn’t considered that haha :) I don’t think it will kill the ceph if you top water, sounds like the substrate is well draining so shouldn’t be a problem - you just don’t want to let the soil stay too wet on top or it might get crown rot 👑💚 possibly the goal of top watering and is to avoid root rot as they don’t like to sit in water for a long time like you might keep a VFT in a shallow tray of water.

    • @HelgrafFireHammer
      @HelgrafFireHammer Год назад

      @plant life forever 69 ah that's alot of good information actually, thank you! I might top water *super* carefully until I repot it into something alot taller, then ill kind of transition it into tray watering. Or if I'm seeing some negative reactions to top watering, I'll put it in a super shallow pot of water. Thank you again for the info, both in the comment and video! It's a big help!

    Hi! I've started my 14th year of fridge dormancy for my flytraps! This is how I do it: In mid - October (zone 6) once the plants are well into the start of dormancy I drain off excess water from the pots, hit them with a SULFUR based fungicide and place in zip lock bags and pop them in the fridge for 3 - 3 1/2 months. I occasionally check them (once a month) for fungus and hit with the fungicide if needed. Late winter around February 1st I take them out and clean them up, repot any that need it, hit them with SULFUR based fungicide again and place in a south and west window and some under florescent and white 'daylight' LED lights until night time temps. regularly stay above freezing then slowly acclimate them to full outdoor Sun. I've been using this method for 13 years with no losses. Have fun! Love your accent too by the way.

When i started i was so afraid about getting one, but i thought the same: if i can give the plants the conditions they need, why not? And so i got one, and i can say that in this 2 years the only problem i had was a little bit of powdery mildew, but nothing more (because at the beginning i sprayed them water, don't worked for me). Thanks! 😊 I got it from Triffid Nurseries, they have a website! Highly recommend their plants, I visited their poly tunnel and the plants were all very well looked after!

    You have beautiful plants. Keep them outside in a small green house. They will stay better. Only the Nepenthes keep inside. Good luck for this great hobby and collection. 🍀 Respect and love nature and the nature love and respect you🙏🏻🌱💚😇
