Do you know of any source to find what the local tree fauna is in regions around the world? Where I live now 98% are artificially planted and shouldn't be there, something like that. I would love to plant some native species
Reject suspicion, return to Socratic naivete.
Perhaps both have a place in philosophical discourse --Matt
Mircea Eliade, Foucault/Derrida/Lyotard, Quentin Meillasoux, Iain Hamilton Grant, Stephen Hicks, Hubert Dreyfus, Simon Critchley/Emmanuel Levinas, Roman Ingarden, Malabou, Carl Schmitt, Nick Land
Fascinating thinkers! Simon Critchley is going to be my professor next semester :) --Matt
fun podcast i wish you guys were more popular, i feel like smaller creators don’t get the support they deserve, amazing listen please make more
Thank you so much for your engagement in our community and feedback! If you want more content like this, check out our other Dialogues, including the one we just uploaded! Much love <3 --Matt
Where’s stream?
We are live now! www.twitch.tv/absolute_spirit_us
Much needed, guys!❤
I am so glad you benefitted from this video! Thank you for your participation in our community, ad we hope you will continue to benefit from and engage with it! --Matt
Enjoyed the conversation a lot! I definitely resonate with these views of death as opposed to the Catholic world view I was raised in. As someone who has recently left the church it sometimes feels hard to find others who share these perspectives. But yall are cuties and thank you for putting this out there🫶 If you’re ever in Cincinnati, let’a get high at our mom and pop Mega Corp Pavilion
Haha, thank you for the invitation, as well as for your participation in our community! Sorry to hear about your difficult experiences with the Church. I identify as Catholic, so please feel free to reach out if you ever want to talk about theology, religion, philosophy of those, or anything else like that! Also, on that note, I recommend reading Zizek's writings on Christianity (especially his recent work "Christian Atheism") - they are quite fascinating! --Matt
Hey, as you know I like to give random suggestions just for the heck of it. Jean-Luc Marion, Pippin, Castoriadis, Girard, Levi-Strauss/Piaget, Arendt, Paul Ricoeur
Thanks for the idea! I definitely want to get into more French philosophy, but right now I am caught up with the Germans; Hegel, Freud, etc. I am sure you will see more French philosophy content on here as I get more intimate with it! --Matt
Great video. I want to read more Hegel and buying Introduction to philosophy of history after this.. I also study organic farming right now and love your ideas around agriculture. Keep it up
so happy to hear you enjoyed our video and that you are studying farming!! :) --alice
We are so glad you are getting into Hegel as well! Let us know if you want to talk about him together :) -- Matt
I just started philosophy and I don't understand Plato. My ass is not ready for Hegel 😭😭😭
Nobody is ever really ready to "understand Hegel", in my opinion. If you are interested in him or any other philosopher, just dive in, and ask questions online or read other books if you are confused!

yeah he played here before he was big!! he smoked with students after the show haha. --alice
Hell yea
Long time no see, first please stream, second for suggestions Jordan Peterson/Joseph Campbell/Carl Jung, Habermas, Harman, Zizek/Kojeve/Lacan, Sloterdijk, Søren Kierkegaard
Hi! First of all, thank you so much for sticking around! Sorry about the unannounced hiatus. Alice and I were getting very busy with school, and a graphic designer joined our team (hence the new channel art), so getting her up to speed was taking up time too. Our new streaming schedule is as follows: Every other Sunday night (once every 2 weeks). Our graphic designer is working on a Twitch channel banner to reflect this. Thank you for the recommendations as well! We are planning a German Idealism 101 series (involving Kant, Fichte, Schelling, Hegel, etc.) that will serve as prerequisite videos for eventual channel coverage of thinkers such as Zizek and Kojeve. Lacan stuff will come later as I (Matt) learn more. In terms of the others, we will sprinkle them in as much as we can in between these German Idealism 101 videos! The Peterson video will probably be the soonest non-German Idealism 101 video. Thank you again for sticking around in our community and we hope you are as excited as we are for the future of it!
we are streaming now! :)
these are some safe edgy choices from what's available on instagram
4 philosophers I think would be cool if you get the time to make videos about them, Karl jaspers, Gilles Deleuze, ayn rand, and Martin Heidegger. Btw do you guys have no plan re twitch?
Thanks for the suggestions and for your engagement! We will take these into consideration. We are looking to create a regular twitch schedule, this is taking some time though as we are both settling into school and routine and such.
0:29 Nietzsche wasn’t a materialist nor was he determinist, the will to power is non matter (matter is how the will to power looks to us according to nietszche, but it is will, not matter, which he modified from Schopenhauer) and while he was not a believer some forms of free will, technically even with his concept of eternal return it is possible for the will to manifest differently
Thank you for the input! Do you know of texts that cover these details more in-depth? I was getting my info primarily from the book "What Nietzsche Really Said" as well as writings such as "The Death of God" and "On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense".
Great work! Thank you for this 🙏
Thank you for your engagement in our community!

Wow that was a tough one to sit through… lot to unpack here… first of all, you are strawmanning the law of the excluded middle and you are clearly a no good sophist. May I refer you to the war of 1812? you are an edgy teenager that read one reddit post about karl marx and claim to be an expert on the subject matter. do better
nice quality video! keep going bro

Lets say that the cartesian demon is real and everything is fake. Why would it matter in the end. You as a depicted person still do feel the feelings of everyday life and still can feel happiness. "You might not ever do the real good things" is a good point, but i think that if you do the thing you think is good and it makes you feel good then it is worth doing and giving motivation. After you die and lets say everything is revealed to you that everything was a projection, not real nor significant, in my opinion it would still be significant to your mind when you did it and after everything was revealed to you, mainly because of materialism and that you have had the feeling of happiness. Im sorry if i misunderstood the video, I have just started studying philosophy and for grammar errors my first language is not english :D
Thank you for your input! I think your point captures an important point of the video and an important turn in philosophy that happened with Descartes; namely, the importance of the subject and its projections of meaning unto its experience, as opposed to primacy of the "objective world". Thank you again for sharing and let us know if you have any other thoughts!
cool video. keep going!!!!!
Thank you so much for the kind words and support! We hope you enjoyed and continue to enjoy our content!
