It is hard today to find a person who will keep a vow for life.

My parents have been together for 44 years. They had 5 girls and 1 boy together. We all were born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq and came to the states in 2006. 3 years after the us invaded my country. My parents and I have literally survived through hell. Them more so than us because.. well they're older. And all the stuff they've been through, I've never ever heard them have a real argument. My dad has never cussed at her or simply even raise his voice at her. If I get married, I hope to have the patience my father has and wish I can treat a lady like he does regardless of the circumstances.

My husband and I just celebrated our 28th anniversary this month, and we share everything with each other, good or bad. And we have been through a lot of hard times together. I made this clear on my getting to know the women I dated. I'd ask about their histories, what they learned, if they're fighters for their relationship and why they think that etc. It's provides me a very good understanding or the foundation at least of where they are in life and how they think where it matters. If they're not fighters, I'm not interested, when times get tough people are tested and in those times the fighters keep things together.

Sometimes a spouse turns out to be unworthy of maintaining vows made to them. For instance, my ex-wife had our unborn baby killed without my consent (or even telling me she was pregnant). Such abjectly selfish people aren't deserving of upholding the vows made to them. When my ex did that, she released me from any vow made to her.

Very good point. People need to understand how serious the marriage vow is because your partner has really opened themselves up emotionally and in many ways over time that the individuals in that relationship need be honored especially when it takes so long for them both to trust and believe that they will be look after no matter what happens in the marriage, year after year. Everything they have is tied up in their commitment to each other It is not a joke! People have to be mature enough to hold each other down,loyal, no matter what comes and include there spirituality in it also to stay bound to each other. "You will not run away." how serious the marriage vow is.
