Give me a break_ Amy's version blows this 1 totally out of the water/Amy's sounds like Aretha Franklin sings Birdland_who else could pull That Off!!
Ok. You might like AWs version. You might feel that you relate more to her an an artist and to her story. Two things however are undeniable: 1) Amy only “sounds like Aretha” when her’s and Aretha’s mouths are completely shut. 2) DD is “who can pull this song off”in her way. Singers like AW or Dylan or meatloaf or Eddie Jefferson, are great at what they do. And sometimes it’s interesting and ironic to see how they interpret something in a different genre but that in no way obviates the work of established masters in that genre.

I don't feel that Amy butchered it at all - I still love her version, which has less of a "bluesy" feel. There is room for everyone's interpretation. Both ladies did a great job and can be commended :)
I know right, that's why they call them standards: you want the singers to interpret them, not to simply copy the interpretation of somebody else...

Amy Winehouse shouldn't have the nerve to butcher a classic like this. Dee Dee does a wonderful version of this great tune.
So THIS was the original "Lullaby" that they incorporated in Sakamichi no Apollon (give or take a few times it slows down and the speeds up, the raspiness works) :D
