Swapping a 14.00R20 tire on split rim spare

Swapping from winter tire to off road tire on the spare wheel of our MAN HX60 Expedition truck. Be very careful doing this. Make sure the tire is completely deflated before removing the locking ring. Stay out of the way, also during inflation of the tire.

NEDERLAND NICE DE DOO GOOD STAF
U sure its waterprood bro?
It is :)
That is soooooo helpful. Thank you very much :)
I used to do this with plant tyres, when I was in the British Army. We used to put a cargo strap around the tyre (to help it seat correctly and seal). We also used to position the tyre under the vehicle in case when inflating under pressure, the split rim popped off Rather it hit the chassis of the vehicle, than take my head off. Then again the plant wheels of a Volvo BM4400 are a lot larger, so probably more dangerous.
Goed bezig maatje 💪
Beautiful.
Just curious. Which tyres do you drive. Thx
Winter tires or the off road tires?
@@mountainyacht4287 I was curious for both. We have Michelin xlz. But thinking of changing to a more road specific spec. So for instance the Bridgestone m748. However, there has to be a possibility to get the tyres worldwide. Change in tyres could really benefit our fuel consumption 😀
@@speedsweets67 We have Continental HCS in 14.00R20 Less aggressive than your Michelin XLZ but a bit better road behaviour and less wear. Not as good off road though. The other set are dedicated winter tyres - rethreads - based on the same tire. They performed really well last winter.
@@mountainyacht4287 Dank je wel. De XLZ is, denk ik te specifiek. In Afrika misschien beter ivm de modder, maar voor de rest misschien te "Extreem".
Top Job many thanks 4 the Video 🎉😂
It’s my dream to own and drive this MAN HX60 some day 🤞
The vehicle is too capable
I’m surprised that the habitat doesn’t sway more in contrast to the cab on that crazy terrain!? Is it locked down with a spring mount system ...rather than a 4 point diamond style with the hinged front and back? They seem to sway more..?
That is correct. We used the standard bed of the HX60. When it is good enough for the army, it is good enough for us. We wanted a stable ride on roads as well and not a swaying 'camel' as we drive a lot of hairpins in the mountains. Please read our blog: www.dutch-overlanders.com/no-four-point-subframe-experiences/
Funpark Hüntel (Meppen) my home.... nice Truck from the british Army?
Thanks, yes it is!
Many thanks fantastic
Show... fantástico
I’d love to see more videos like this the tire deformation in the end there was awesome 👍🏽 Do you remember what tire pressure you were running?
2,5 bar on the road we run 8 bar
Thanks, we gladly use it as a mobile hunting cabin, ski chalet and mountain biking hub! Great to always come home into a warm and cosy atmosphere. Yet to make a little video of the inside!
That is a spectacular vehicle. Perfect for a bugout vehicle or cross country offroading.
Linda sua nave, que voe longe em busca de novos horizonte deste planeta. 😊😊😊

Hola, son muy caros $$$??

Why you start with this annoying music?
That’s the way to go skiing
Hello, I would like to know the measurements of the truck, length, width and height, could you tell me?
Length 910 cm, width 250 cm and height 390 cm
Und was sagt das Video??? Ein Lkw im Schnee und laute Musik. Erinnert an die unsäglichen Dia Abende früher
Süper 👍
Hello from Canada! Fantastic video - looks like a wonderful truck now that the box has been installed! Can I ask what is the typical fuel consumption when you are driving at a normal speed down the highway (eg. 90 km/h)? I understand that it will be much higher off-road. Thanks!
Thanks Tony, highway is around 25 - 28 liters
This is dope 👍🏽
Legendary
Very interesting, I presume it is an ex English vehicle due to the right hand drive? I would suggest you consider the benefits of a Centralised Tyre Inflation System (CTIS) we have a much smaller truck, 6000kg fully loaded, and we had the same issue as you with inflating and deflating larger tyres, it takes forever; so to speak. We probably take around 4-5 minutes to air up all four tyres at once from 190kPa to 330kPa with our aftermarket twin cylinder 24V compressor as we are driving along. We looked into obtaining a CTIS for our truck and fortunately found a quality product only 140km from our home, best thing we ever did. We use it all of the time, much more than we thought we would, as soon as we turn off hard surfaces, we drop pressure to a pre-set dirt road level that we have designated as best for our load. Once through the dirt road and upon entering hard surface, we usually start airing up in the last minutes of the dirt and if there is very little, or often, no other traffic, we turn onto the hard surface while the truck is airing up. Just an unbelievable difference in the way you tour, so much better for the truck and of course so much better for us in the cabin. As a bonus point when encountering sand dunes we drop to approximately the same pressure as you do; smaller tyres, and then we do dunes and whatever else at the appropriate much lower speeds. We also trim the tyre pressure as we drop water and fuel, which in our case from totally full to almost empty, is close to 500kg. Our system has one pressure for the front axle and another for the rear axle, which we can independently change. Our system is an aftermarket system that was invented in Australia for the logging industry, as they generally drive road trucks into dirt roads in forest and bush areas and need the drive axles to run much lower pressure to get out then air up as they get to the hard surface. They also drop the pressure when the truck is empty for a softer ride on the truck and driver. I looked at your recovery video, it was then that I realised you may be going into some interesting areas and I know from experience that having CTIS on your truck would be incredibly handy. Greetings from Melbourne Australia.
Nice💪
