I cant recommend it enough. Its delicious.
New Yorkers are the realest critics about their city and everybody else's city too. So when they travel they are going to be honest about the experience and definitely not bias. Trump.
Great video! Can’t wait to visit!
Definitely give it a try when you are in town.
I Think You Understand Where Am Coming From Bourbon 🥃 Is From Bourbon County Kentucky Plus The Water Is From Bourbon County The Process Was Not What I Was Thinking It’s The Location Hence Bourbon 🥃 Yet I Do Appreciate The Insight and Oddly Enough I Don’t Drink Whiskey 🥃 It Gives Me a Big Red Nose 👃
Well you did ask "how is it that Great Jones CAN call it bourbon". So that was the answer to your question. Now I do understand where you are coming from and I respect your opinion. However while bourbon did have its origins in Bourbon County, only one is made there today. So I guess its a good thing you dont drink bourbon since by your definition of what makes a whiskey bourbon you would have only one distillery to choose from. 🙏
How is it That Great Jones Can Call 📞 Their Whisky 🥃 Bourbon Whisky 😮?
@stevenholquin2127 Thanks for the comment. We appreciate it.They call it Bourbon due to it fitting the legal criteria. It is made in the USA, has a mash of at least 51% corn, is aged in new charred oak barrels, distilled at no more then 160 proof, enters the container at no more then 125 proof and bottled at 80 proof or more. A few other requirements include anything labeled straught bourbon must be aged at least 2 years and if it is aged less then 4 years it must include an age statement on the label. I hope that cleared up any confusion.
All you're doing is getting drunk
@joyvelleenerlan2996 Getting drunk? Lol I hardly think 2 drinks in a visit would get me drunk. However there may be some people who might not be able to handle more then 1 drink, though I dont know any....well except my mom.
thanks for the review
Interesting to hear as I believe Hawksmoor has been on a steep decline in London for years now.
Thats interesting. I cant comment on the London locations, but I have enjoyed my visits here in nyc.
Here too, most inconsistent cooks I've ever been served was my last experience there. Forget how bad they botched the t bone, the lamb chops came as three and each one was a different cook. One was completely rare, one was medium and the other was well done. We ordered it all medium. This spot was trash
@lochanssl2 Thats unfortunate. Are you talking about a location in London? Or the New York one.
@@BoozyExplorers New York! It was such a bad experience. Only positives were: drinks were good and sides. And the restaurant in general has a nice ambiance. But the steaks and lamb chops were very very inconsistent.
I’m sorry to hear that happened at the NYC location. My experience has always been good. Hopefully they just had a down night and the inconsistencies are not a trend downward.
Looking at that cocktail you got with the steak...that big cube of ice...classy but takes up a lot of space and doesn't leave much room for the booze. My guess, as a drinker, I wouldn't be happy there. They likely measure the alcohol and aren't good pours. Grey goose, rocks, lemon wedge is probably a tiny pour and rip off for what they charge. Overall a negative there and I've eaten there several times...just never done drinks. Now probably won't.
Thanks for the comment. I’m sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your meals there. I’m curious. Was it the steak? Service? Or something else. I appreciate wanting to get a good bang for your buck when it comes to a drink. As for the strength of the drinks I think it depends on what you order. However I have never had an issue with them being weak. I would definitely have mentioned it if I did. I do believe that Hawksmoor usually measures and gives you a 2 oz. pour for liquor neat, on ice or with a mixer. As for the cocktails those can vary and actually be stronger. Their Manhattan is strong. In fact I find most Manhattan variations to be the best bang for your buck since they contain 3-3.5 oz. of alcohol and are traditionally served up. Maestras Martini was also pretty strong as was the old fashion. I don’t think the big rock effects the Amount of booze any more then a large amount of small rocks would. If they use bar ice then they would just use more or a smaller glass etc. I will say that while it looks great, the large clear ice is not just for show. They are also used because they melt slower and thus don’t dilute your drink as quickly as the smaller cubes. However you can ask for a pour on the regular ice if you would prefer. I saw several people do that.
It is British. It's good. I'm happy it is now in America.
Great music, but please sort the levels out!! I’m getting blasted over here.
Thanks for the feedback. Ill have to adjust that. Is the voice part okay?
Oh also Amber in Brooklyn which is like Peter Luger but much better.
Keens would probably beat it. That place is AMAZING. Especially their Prime Rib and Mutton Chop.
Thanks for the comments. I have tried Keens, though it has been some time. It was excellent. I slightly favor Hawksmoor overall for the reasons mentioned in the video. However I need to pay Keen a visit, since I havnt for some time. Maybe its recency bias. I would love to try Amber. I am not familiar with them. Add another one to the list lol
As a steakhouse afficionado, I very much appreciate the reasoned tenor and first-rate quality of this review: impartial, measured, nuanced and properly focused. While specifics were adduced, the narrative assessment remained holistic and ideally outward-facing. I, for one, have an immutable attachment to Delmonico's; still, following two recent visits to Hawksmoor, I am led to concur largely with your solidly-grounded appraisal. Kudos!
Thanks so much. We appreciate the kind words. I have enjoyed Del Monico's as well, though it has been some time since I have been. I need to return soon for a visit.
Ai comment? Kidding, refreshing to see such a well-written & grammatically correct online comment (previous English tutor here) 😅
@VQSeries Alas! The rigors of classical training!
Order a whiskey sour when you're at a steakhouse ffs
Definitely a good option. Cant go wrong with a classic, assuming you like whiskey of course lol
Always love an FFS when I see or hear it....very British and always apropos.
Enjoyed the video. Not sure how recent the footage of the neighborhood was, but I noticed that there was a lot of trash piled up on the sidewalk. I thought NYC put an end to that, due to rat infestation.
Im so glad you enjoyed the video. The footage is pretty recent. I filmed on a Monday which is trash day. I know they passed a new law that starts mid November, however I am not sure about the details. Since NYC doesnt have that many alleys it will be tough to completely avoid trash on the streets. They have started to get rid of many of the outdoor dining sheds which I am sure will help. The deadline was black Friday I believe.
My next steakhouse stop will now be Hawksmoor. The notorious beef burger looks amazing. Looking forward to trying the best burger in the city. The building is gorgeous as well! Would love to see your future steakhouse reviews. Specifically COTE.
Thanks so much!! I appreciate the comment. Definitely try out the Notorious Beef asap. It was supposed to be a temporary addition to the menu but its so popular they keep extending it. I definitely want to review Cote eventually. However, stay tuned for my visit to Undercote soon. Its the speakeasy below Cote and they also serve some of the same steak cuts as Cote upstairs.
Good Video. Hawksmoor is currently our go to steakhouse in NYC. We have been to Minetta Tavern, Keens and Craft multiple times, and Hawksmoor is right up there. As far as the cocktail program, my wife had something that was practically undrinkable - way too flowery. For me, I tend to be pretty classic: gin and tonic, martini or a Negroni, all of which were excellent. We drink wine with the meal, and they have an excellent wine program, as well as $10 corkage on Mondays. I am curious, what steakhouses have you been to Manhattan?
Thanks so much! I really appreciate the comment. I have been to Keens, Gallaghers, Old Homestead, Benjamins, Wolfgangs, Del Monicos and in Brooklyn Peter Lugers. I deftinitely want to try out craft. Im glad to hear you enjoyed there classics. I love a good Negroni. I wonder which drink it was that your wife tried. The only drink I havn't liked from Hawksmoor was a reddish pink drink from a few menus ago that was to sweet. However it was my own fault because the bartender warned me lol. I will have to try there wine sometime. I really enjoy the Manhattan as well. If you like Manhattans definitely give it a try.
Are you shy ? 🤔
No, not really. We hope you enjoyed the video and really appreciate you watching and commenting.
