    Isn’t your modem a router too? Seems redundant unless you have it as a extender for areas far away from your modem

      My modem is just a modem. You can certainly get modem/router/wifi combos. Typically, internet service providers will provide a modem/router combo, but I didn’t want to keep being charged a rental fee so I bought my own equipment a while ago.

      @@2D-to-3D Modem router combos are generally not as good. Generally separate components are higher quality. For example a high end home theater will not use a sound bar that combines an amp and speakers into a single unit. They will use multiple speakers placed strategically around the room, a power amplifier possibly multiple of them, a preamplifier, input switcher, and at least 1 dedicated subwoofer. The same principle applies to networking equipment. At minimum a good setup will contain 4 pieces of equipment. An ISP modem, a router, a network switch, and 1 or more wireless access points depending on the size of the space you need to cover.

    Okay but... Why spend so much money on filament and so much print time on an okay-ish pot when you can get these ready-made for a tenner with water depth gauge and all sorts of other fancy things already built-in? Or even just take an even cheaper regular pot and take a drill to it!? Like what is the actual benefit of using a 3D printer?

      None, unless you count having fun making something on your own a benefit.

    Please don't freehand 2x4's on a table saw. This is how you get your fingers involuntarily removed.

      What do you mean by freehand? Should I have clamped the boards to the miter gauge? Ideally, I’d have done it with a router, but I don’t have one of those yet.

    That notch goes under the beam for new work. Gives you the 1/2” height of the Sheetrock so the box sits just about 1/8 inch from finished Sheetrock. So if you’re roughing out a new house,no Sheetrock. you just slap the box to the stud and the lip catches and that’s your perfect mounting depth for 1/2 in Sheetrock. Or in your case cut out some Sheetrock over the stud and the box sits perfect.

    • @2D-to-3D
      @2D-to-3D 3 месяца назад

      I didn’t think to cut out some of the drywall from over the stud, that’s a better idea than I had for sure. In hindsight, I should’ve just gone back to the store and gotten the right ones.

      @@2D-to-3D yeah old work with the ears on it would have been easier, but either way you still got the job done. The box is probably sitting a little crooked but nobody will ever see it. Lights turned out great, good work… I would hire you to work with me!!
