Apparently Tony’s plan was to let Gaethje get wild (like he had a tendency to do) and catch him over-committing, and either poor the pressure on while Gaethje was rocked or make him panic wrestle and then lock up a submission, Tony made this strategy work many times, against Barboza, Pettis, lando, Tibau etc. The fight seemed to be turning in Tony’s favour here and going to plan, but Justin’s corner was excellent and made adjustments, Justin was told to reign it in and take 10% off his shots and keep it clean, so Tony came out for the next round expecting Justin to be wild and then counter him, but Justin came out sharper and by the time Tony’s team saw the game plan had failed, he was too beat up to grapple properly. When he finally threw his classic imunari roll his legs were smoked and it was too slow. But for anyone watching this live, it seemed like a normal Tony fight for the first 2 rounds. It was Garthjes adjustment and Tony’s lack of rolling that showed this wasn’t going to be a normal Tony fight ….

Lot of haters I see for the man. He is a living legend. I'm sad to say I missed a lot of his ups. But everyone seems to only talk about his downs. It is sad but don't bury them guy. I saw the same thing with Lil Evil. I never saw how good he was firsthand only saw him losing every fight and crying saying he can't do it anymore. Getting hit has a terrible effect on folks. Our absolute favorites will prolly be in the same boat some day.
