    It should be your intimate moment. We didn’t have to see this.

    • @raisedbyintuition

      I understand your point, but labeling breastfeeding as something intimate that should be hidden creates unnecessary obstacles for mothers trying to feed their children. It adds stress for both parents and babies, making it difficult for mothers to feel confident breastfeeding wherever and whenever it’s needed. While breastfeeding might make some people uncomfortable, it really shouldn't-it’s a natural act of nourishing a child. By normalizing it, society will become less uncomfortable, and mothers will face fewer barriers, helping them breastfeed longer. This can lead to better health outcomes for families 💕

      @@xto744 It’s not my place-or yours-to tell someone when they should stop breastfeeding. Decisions like this are personal and should be made by the parent and child together. Leading health organizations, such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), recommend breastfeeding for at least two years, and beyond as long as it’s mutually desired by both the parent and child. Extended breastfeeding continues to offer nutritional, immune, and emotional benefits. It’s important to respect each family’s journey and the decisions that work best for them. I hope this helps shed some light on the topic 💕

    As an IBCLC I can tell you you’re actually doing what is recommended. It’s now recommended to breastfeed for at least the first two years if possible, so please try not to let anyone make you feel bad.

    • @raisedbyintuition
      @raisedbyintuition 2 дня назад

      Thank you so much for your comment and for sharing your credentials! I really appreciate your support. 🌸 When I was pregnant, I planned to breastfeed for just one year because I worried about losing my independence, and extended breastfeeding seemed unfamiliar. After learning from a doula who was also an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), my perspective shifted. I realized that breastfeeding beyond two years, as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization, has incredible benefits. I’m not planning to stop anytime before two years, and when the time comes, it will be when either my baby or I feel ready. We’ll make that transition gradually and respectfully. My goal with this video is to help normalize both extended breastfeeding and breastfeeding in public. Like many, I used to think it was a bit unusual to see toddlers breastfeeding, but now I see how important and natural it is. It’s something that often happens in private because of societal expectations, but I believe it should be seen as normal and supported. There’s no shame in feeding your child whenever or wherever they need it. Through my channel, I hope to encourage women who are able to breastfeed to consider extended breastfeeding, and to feel more comfortable doing so in public. The more we see it, the more accepted it will become, and that will help more parents make the choice that works best for their family without added pressure 💕

      @@raisedbyintuition Thank you for helping to normalize breastfeeding. I always tell my patients (I’m also an RN) that it is ultimately up to them in how they decide to feed their baby. I support whatever decision they make so long as they have been given the information as there is a lot of misinformation being spread around. I have had so many mothers tell me they wanted to breastfeed their first child longer but they had friends and family telling them to stop when the baby was a year or younger. Some people encourage giving a bottle sooner because they want to feed the baby not realizing the impact it can have if given too soon. I’ve had mothers in tears because they were having low production and painful feeding and we spoke about pumping and bottle feeding to get the baby fed. And I am not against formula if needed or truly desired by the mother. The bottom line, I don’t judge any decision so long as it is in the best interest of mom and baby.

      Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment, Kristen! 😊 I really appreciate the incredible work you’re doing to support moms and help them make informed decisions. I couldn’t agree more-what’s right for one mom isn’t necessarily right for another, and it’s so important for everyone to feel empowered in the path they choose, whether it’s breastfeeding, formula feeding, or a mix of both. I actually created a video where I share facts from reputable sources like the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics, along with five stories from women in my community who’ve each chosen different feeding paths. Sometimes, hearing real stories can help moms feel less alone in their journey. 💕 Here’s the link, in case it might be helpful for your patients: ruclips.net/video/jImnzlUJH10/видео.html

    Fun Fact: Some AMAB people actually can lactate! Depending on their hormone balance and medical background. If you’re one of these people and randomly start lactating, it can be hormone imbalance, but worse, it could also mean liver issues, hyperthyroidism or a tumor. So make sure to get that checked out if that happens. If you’re a man and *want* to start lactating for any reason (I ain’t here to judge) you can get on HRT and it may become possible.

    • @raisedbyintuition
      @raisedbyintuition 29 дней назад

      Thanks for your question, Anthony 😊 My content is intended for parents, not kids, and I always mark my videos as ‘not for kids’ on RUclips to make sure they’re reaching the right audience. However, I don’t see the harm in kids seeing this. The main message here is about making informed, responsible decisions-whether it’s understanding why pumping and dumping isn’t necessary or knowing the impact of alcohol on breastfeeding. It’s definitely not about encouraging drinking, but rather, if someone chooses to have a drink, they should do so in a way that’s safe for both their child and themselves. As for the visuals of breastfeeding and pumping-these are natural parts of parenting and how many of us feed our babies. Normalizing these activities is important, and I hope it encourages open conversations about them. Feel free to share any more questions or thoughts 😊

    The OR protocol would not allow you to birth standing up? They’re forcing you to birth and what is arguably one of the worst possible positions? I would’ve said no, unless I need to lay down I’m not doing it. They’re not gonna hold you down on the bed, and if they do, you can sue them

    • @thackerybinx2637
      @thackerybinx2637 2 месяца назад

      Not that it’s gonna be helpful now, but anyone else who might be watching this… My other stories on the pain-free birth podcast was a premature baby. I think it was 34 weeks just like the story, they didn’t actually need to give the baby oxygen. The mother insisted on keeping the baby with her for as long as possible, not lighting. The staff pusher around, and baby did not need oxygen or other interventions that they would’ve done just by routine without even noticing if the baby actually needed it or not. Her and her husband were trying to keep hands off as much as possible and was just fine.

    • @raisedbyintuition
      @raisedbyintuition 2 месяца назад

      Hi @thackerybinx2637, thanks for sharing your opinion. My video aims to share my personal experience and the specific circumstances of my son’s birth. The OR protocol required me to be in a lying down position due to safety concerns, including quick access for the medical team, stabilization, and ensuring that all necessary equipment could be used effectively. While it might not be ideal for everyone, it was necessary in my case to ensure both my safety and my baby’s. As for your point about oxygen, it’s important to note that each birth and baby are different. My doctor could predict early on that my son might need oxygen, as it’s common for babies born prematurely at high altitudes to require supplemental oxygen. This was confirmed upon birth when he wasn’t oxygenating well. The medical team assessed his condition immediately and provided the necessary support. My baby needed supplemental oxygen for the first month of his life. I chose my hospital and doctors carefully, trusting them to balance my preferences with the best safety practices for my baby. I wanted a safe delivery, and they understood and supported this while ensuring the best outcomes for us both. My channel’s goal is to share experiences and support parents without judgement. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, and I hope this fosters more discussion and shared stories.
