If you can defend only one caravan at the time, zerging caravans will be not efficient as it is today
"faster mount" ??? how could you want a faster mount? ... That's already way faster than a normal horse would be able to go...
Because we know faster in-game mounts exist and it would be fun
just wanna say from my experience things like copper are on a 2 hr timer. so once you find one you can come back to it every 2 hrs and itll come back. Ive gotten insane amount of high rarity copper this way - set an alarm on my phone for it and take a screenshot and profit.
nvm chibi said this right after i posted it, its deff a timer! mining nodes dont change. and for the willow spawns, they are kinda in the same spots as well. you will see like 3 croc mounts racing to a willow spawn at a certain time because the hardcore gatherers already know the game, lol. Its not good for the game at this point for sure.
also having nodes be completely random & plentiful is better than consistent rarity/plentiful because people like me literally time them. You'll never get the good ones as often. Ultimately I feel like having gatherable materials be so damn random that no one has any idea where to get it. Minus be in the right biome. That would probably level the field.
I just can't wrap my head around the weird arbitrary lines being drawn. Zerging is fine. Bullying smaller guilds with the intent of making them quit the game is fine. But using the game's mechanics to create advantages for yourself in creative ways is toxic and poop behavior
I don't really see that myself; We do not advocate for bullying people to make them quit
my thoughts; gathering is just about right processing is way to easy crafting is way to hard lol

I love the content. I'm the leader of FED, and we definitely lean more to large guild than Zerg. It's always interesting to see different points of views and such. Different strokes for different folks. Love the discussion... Had a lot of fun with the Nexus friends this phase! ❤
Hey Church, we are aware of your position through both the game and out of game chatting haha. Fed has definitely been a fun challenge at times. Our guild is no where near zerg sized but I thought it would be a good point to show that you dont have to be a zerg guild to fight a zerg guild haha.

fun time testing systems so far. What is the sum of these crafting maths being discussed? monies? power? What is the carrot you are chasing that leads your actions. Given enough time and effort invested all desires should be obtainable in game.
I would say most not all. It really does depend on what the person wants. For example, you can only grand master 2 artisanship classes so if someone wanted to be a master at 3 that is just not possible on one character.

There is a blending when using different material rarities.The blending is seen in the stats. When I made my apprentice level herbalist tool, I used 7 uncommon copper and 3 common copper. Since I had full uncommon for the other materials I got an uncommon tool. I played with using less uncommon copper, to lower the cost so to speak to get the same rarity. As long as the majority of the copper used was uncommon, 6+, then the tool was uncommon. The thing I noticed though, was the 6 uncommon copper 4 common copper vs 7 uncommon copper 3 common copper, was the more uncommon copper I used the higher the STATS were on the resulting tool itself. The rarity on the tool seems to be more based on a threashold on what the stats were, but two uncommon tools can have slightly different stats since it did not reach a threashold for a higher rarity or drop below to a lower rarity. So within a given rarity you can have a range of possible resulting stats in the final product when using blended item rarities.
The blending is on the crafting side and not the processing side. Crafting = Stats So anything you can get a stat out of you can blend. Processing has a fixed outcome. Ex: A potion uses bluebell powder and 2 items from the merchant/vender. The outcome is dependant on the rarity and the amount that potion gives is already pre-determined. Additionally, when making a weapon mold specifically, you need all items to be the same rarity. When making your tool that is still crafting. The weapon mold -- after it is made can be different from the other items being used to craft the tool but the items being used to make the weapon mold must be the same rarity. I personally tried using higher rarity Slate sand and bluebell thread with a lower rarity animal fat and it was not allowing us to make the mold.
i like that we need other crafters to help in a goal but i think they need to add more slots for people that just want to craft (even a crafting tree would be neat).
They do intend to have Artisan trees: ashesofcreation.wiki/Artisan_skill_tree Cannot wait to see them once they are implemented
Healing for 20 years talking = minimizing exp debt with cleric rez is an absolutely fantastic idea!!! Extremely innovative mechanic! 🎉

The crafting system needs a LOT of love. A slider for the amount you want to make, some things should not take as much as they do to make (slate molds are insane compared to granite/basalt), and the drop rates/rarities for items needs to be looked at. If I kill 50 wolves I might get some good poop, but WHY AM I NOT GETTING WOLF CARCASSES??!?!?! This is the biggest flaw with tanning/hunting. I know in the future it is going to change, but for now let people get the mats in a way that makes sense so they can test crafting the items. I don't want any new systems added until some bugs are fixed though. Inventory bug, loot bug, party bug all needs fixed before anything else is added. I've had to relog 100+ times to fix just those issues and others I've had can't be fixed...like nodes I don't have permission to mine/chop. Game has good bones and ideas, but REALLY needs some QoL improvements to the UI and how current things work before adding anything else.

@@uznugaris I’m not sure if they will get removed but I do know better quality versions are made by players. Right now, with the lack of willow, venders are the main reason we can have these things.

So crafting needs a lot of work. Basic processing needs to produce more material (like 3-5 shards for each ore, and 3-5 piles of dust/ or wood chips, or boards for each of those processes much like tanning gives you 5 skins for each carcass). Also, tanning/ butchering needs changed so you can focus on either meat or skins so you end up with 3-5 meat and 1-2 skins or 3-5 skins and 1-2 meat. not getting both out of the same carcass is stupid imo. Also crafting is currently too intertwined. so make an apprentice weapon you need metal wood stone and maybe magic powder of the appropriate rarity. to craft the mold you need more wood, fat, and string, Each of these is in turn limited by the growth of the node and the node buildings in question, so most of the time making appropriate level gear when you need it is basically a waste of time, or net even available early enough, so most people end up waiting to craft until "endgame". This needs fixed pronto. As my guild leader suggested, id love to see the ability to use old blueprints with newer materials to make different archetypes that still work in endgame so at least the lower level patterns aren't wasted. also greater exp for greater rarity crafts is also needed as well!
@@Cerxen I think the intertwining of the crafting is not going to be changing. It is what Steven wants out of the system. It promotes economy or interaction with others to get things you need. That being said, I love your idea of some processing producing more quantity of items. I think this makes sense for most processing professions. I feel like Alchemy is in a good spot currently though. I do think that the rarity for crafting should also be given instead of them all being the same rarity.
@@TGFTavern your probably right, but its so interwoven now that past apprentice you can do almost nothing by yoursel. i don't mind interweaving professions, or needing a a few things for the better/more expensive useful crafts but this is kind of insane. i do think that if they keep this level of interconnection that there need to be some "self sufficient" recipes. For example, "armor plates" which require metal and flux with can be added to to reinforce/field repair gear, basic potions that require water/flowers that don't need a ton of materials from other professions because they are considered "basic goods". On the other hand, the breakdown of profession levels (2 grand master, 3 master, 4 journeyman, 5 apprentice, all novice) is already extremely restricting, so players cant do everything themselves anyway? Honestly i'd just prefer a three profession limit up to grandmaster with everything else stuck at novice, so i can take a vertical slice and trade sideways/work with guildies for adjacent crafts. (Mining->Metalworking->Weaponsmithing) A universal dismantle system would help, in that players could obtain some ingredients from dismantling drops, which would help with early node progress crafting, but thats another topic.
@@Cerxen Yeah but, as a journeyman alchemist currently, some of the processing professions don't need other professions to move forward, it is just the crafting type ones that do. That being said, there will be artisan trees in the future meaning things will only get more limited from here. It's meant to make it so you specialize in a few things rather than being able to do it all. Weapon smithing for example will specialize down in the skill trees - we don't know that much about them yet though: ashesofcreation.wiki/Artisan_skill_tree

Willow chips are the real choke point for my crafting. When dealing with leathering. First, it was cooper in early days. Now it's willow seems more deadly to get. Which is cool to have struggle to get mats. But, this little too much pain right now.
Absolutely! We have noticed willow is needed for everything: Wood chips for Tanning, Willow boards for weaving, Willow chips for Farming, Willow for Buy Orders and caravans, the list goes on. I think the lack of willow in addition to the number of things it is needed in creates this contention point of "What is the best use of the willow right now?" and everything else seems like it comes to a screeching halt.
@@TGFTavern That and the looming raptor wars in their hunting grounds. Because raptor skins are used Profession legs. Rarity does help with crafty. So for example, common gives 1x exp but, it feels like rare is like 1.5isx when come to exp crafting.

I 100% agree with this, for the basalt molds it makes it exceedingly more difficult to get anything of significant rarity.
Also don't forget it, the crafting tree skills are NOT in yet. So crafting is still a place holder.

DMG meter could show some metric how much you combo with others :D that would make it more interesting and even solo players that care about having the biggest number would try to help combo with teammates... honestly I dont mind not having dmg meters :D

For anyone looking for this answer - we ended up answering this in another live haha - We think it is, but that is up to whoever is looking to buy access to testing. Assuming testing for Alpha 2 continues for a year, that rivals the 15$/month that some other games charge. On top of this, you will get access to both betas and 1 month of game time upon Ashes of Creation Launching. All in all, I cannot be the one to tell you if you should buy it, but what I can tell you is that I have been enjoying testing and some of the memories we have made doing so have been enjoyable and will be fun to look back on in the future.

Welcome back. Maybe they could have a system where its a certificate like for sieges or what have you where there's some material component cost to attacking a caravan. Would have to be much cheaper than guild siege scroll but enough to make the event not so indiscriminate

Zerg guilds are stupid and shouldn't exist. This will ruin the game in the long run, by simply killing servers where other players have no chance to do anything. You shouldn't be able to make a lot of smaller guilds, or have a huge 2000 player ''coalitions''. Guilds should be like 200 players maximum...
I agree that guilds should have a limit, but at the same time, its a type of guild that doesn't sound like its going away any time soon. It sounds like Steven wants to create ways to be able to offset a zerg guild through tactics. That being said, I do hope there will be multiple servers to chose from, should we be stuck with an unfortunate circumstance of having a more toxic zerg guild.

Other games have had similar roles of “support” before I think it was…. FF that had a dancer or card like class that was essential for raiding proficiently GW1 had necro batteries - mana wells GW2 was almost designed around support and eventually players found a way to make heals and tanks a thing for raids. Extra 10% dmg- +Mana -+regen and heals Depending on how the other classes fan out- no way you can play without bards
