K9 Scent Wall (The Desperate Man's Edition)
Scent wall constructed with limited materials in the Republic of Palau. Subcontracted, we are carrying out a "first of its kind" $2.6 million dollar contract in the Pacific, funded by the United States Indo-Pacific Command providing and training K9s, training K9 handlers, and future K9 instructors from Palau's Narcotics Enforcement Agency as well as their Customs and Border Protection Division to combat the import of narcotics and explosives.
We wanted to build a scent wall for odor detection training, but due to COVID, getting supplies to the island would take weeks. We were able to scrounge up enough supplies on the island to make a workable scent wall.

Check your egos at the door and expose your handlers to different trainers and training techniques. Fill their mental toolbox. Don't train your handlers everything you know. Train them MORE than what you know. They will be better for it and in return, their dog will be too...and it's all about the dog.

K9 Rudy has 3.5 years of running the show. He didn't respect his handler and his obedience was almost nonexistent. Now that my agency has him, I have to start all over with a real foundation with him. He's coming along and is learning that looking up me gets him paid and play time. Baby steps.

Terrible video there was no explanation of how this works to train the dog. Theres so many more videos that are way better than this garage.
Watching the video without a basic understanding of K9 detection might seem futile. The purpose of a scent box, also known as a detection box is to train dogs to identify specific odors like narcotics or explosives. The boxes you seen here help establish recognition of target scents often paired with systems like KAS (Kong Air Scent) for reinforcement!! (which was used in this video) this system reinforces the concept that the dogs work leads to a reward, typically a ball (Kong). When training dogs the formula is often stimulus plus response plus reward (S+R+R), where the dogs learn to associate the odor (stimulus) with a desired behavior (response) followed by a reward. For example i teach my dogs to sit when they detect the odor which then leads to a reward. I hope this helps after 8 months

@@emilgabl9069 ok...but why are you multiplying that by 5? There's only 1 KAZ ball popper in 1 of the boxes. The others just have a PVC pipe to mimic the one that does

How to give reward ..
Either reward at when you free the dog from odor or pay at source while the dog is obedient to odor and NOT looking at you. Good aim helps.

You just put it in the box with the ball popper. The source odor escapes through the path of least resistance, which is the hole.

Uhhh It's a remote ball popper so the trigger mechanism would be the remote. Shown at 3:10
