1960s Fairchild 658 Spring Reverb / Ace Tone Rhythm Producer Dub Demo
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.16 часов назад
This is a Farchild 658 Spring Reverb, a very cool verb with a built-in optical compressor to achieve different reverb tail lengths. All three spring tanks are active at once, and they are positioned veritcally on the grey rackmounted panel. We used Mike's Ace Tone Rhythm Producer to test it after repair and I must say... it's a lot of fun. The reverb was sold as perfectly working, but the compr...
AKG TDU 7000 w/ GEM PK4900
Просмотров 22916 часов назад
This is a very rare AKG TDU-7000 14-bit digital delay with the coolest switches ever. This is four channels of delay with up to 399 ms each; this may not seem like much of a delay time - and it isn’t - but the coolest part of this delay is not the longest delay times, it’s the shortest. There’s a x.1 switch, allowing down to a tenth of a ms for some cool, subtle phasing techniques. There’s also...

THE Dub Reverb: Grampian Type 636 (drums, guitar, vocals)
Просмотров 71514 дней назад
This is an extremely rare and coveted Grampian 636 spring reverb; this unit came to us with crackly audio and no wet output (though it left the client’s house with working verb!). They have a vero board circuit that is hand-drilled and screen printed with component placement markings, it’s really quite beautiful - and it requires a steady hand with attention to detail to get it right. The high ...
Marshall AR-300 (NOT a gun) Tape Eliminator
Просмотров 64414 дней назад
This the exceedingly rare and sought-after Marshall Tape Eliminator paired with some acoustic guitar. This box provides a slapback delay at 7.5, 15 and 30 ips with “varispeed” modulation capabilities, and changing the delay time with the varispeed knob really does feel like adjusting the speed on a tape machine. These units are highly coveted, which is interesting because the internals are esse...

Vox Percussion King, or How Tom Gets His Finger Exercises In
Просмотров 98321 день назад
This is Tom’s Vox Percussion King, a drum machine that doesn’t actually make beats, only sounds. This one had a nasty crack in the plastic button housing, so I whipped up a little aluminum plate to hold it all together.
Shulte Compact Phasing ‘A’ w/ Prophet-5 and Lexicon 224

This is a demonstration of "Room A" on Matt's now-fully-functional Lexicon 224, paired with Mike's Schulte Compact Phasing 'A' and my Prophet-5 rev 2. This is, in my opinion, the greatest Kraut combination I have encountered!

MXR 150 into the ‘42 and ‘Ned’s Yur Auntie’
I never noticed how the PCM42 is basically a 1U mini Super Prime Time... neat! I recall you recently worked on a SPT, how similar are they internally as far as era of electronics, board styles, components etc?
That drum beat with the delay added reminds me a lot of the pigface (gub) version of "suck" as opposed to the men broken EP version.. I always preferred the gub one
This model along with the PCM 41 was the backbone of Skinny Puppy during the 80s and even till this day cEvin Key and Ken Marshall swear by theirs! 🎛️🎧👌 BrAp oN!!¡!✋✌️
Cricket Banger 🦗
Wow what a sound from that Roland!😮 Mutr9n is absolutely great! I love filters so much too..just jamming with my Waldorf 2-Pole right now🎉
NICE! Two of the coolest bits of analogue kt ever made, together 😁
First comment
Looks like my spring reverb isn’t the only one to pick up radio signals 😂
yes!! Awesome vid, thankyou!
I had an opportunity to buy one of these for $150 once, but I passed on it because it stunk of cigarette smoke and was missing a knob.
@@ambientstereorecordings3528 I had girlfriend like that once....
What?? Richard can’t fix everything!! I’m glad he’s not the everything man. Bravo to Thump.
Good grief I was never able to get mine to sound that good!😢
never seen this before (but proudly owning the great AKG ADR68K reverb, made in cooperation with the Ursa Major development team). There were a lot of rare delay units, aimed at the PA systems market, for delay lines in churches or at large scale concerts. EMt 444 and 445 comes to mind. and those wonderful sounding video sync compensator delays, like Lexicon 1300 or AMS AVSync. The later sounding as good as the DMX 15-80, sadly without feedback and modulation, though. Or the Eventide DDL1745M used on Thriller…
Very cool gear. The insane prices don't turn me off, but the scarcity of reliable repair information makes me pass every time I see one.
Well, you are commenting on a repair channel for a shop that repairs these all the time!
@@foleytronics I recognize that. And I love that you guys are doing it. But I hit you guys up a couple months ago for a repair on an AKG 68K and never heard back, soooo.
@@stevenpagano huh. Are you sure it was us? I’m looking through the shop email and don’t see anything. I’d be stoked to work on that!
@@foleytronics it was through your contact us webpage. I got that machine covered, but I'll be in touch again, Im sure.
@@stevenpagano would you mind checking to see when you sent the email? I am disturbed if it never arrived and am wondering how many other folks have reached out to never receive an answer!
Sounds amazing
Awesome! Never seen a demo. I have one of these with 7 M720 units, Sounds amazing when they're all linked. I was thinking of selling a while ago but had no idea what to charge as they're so rare and come in so many forms! Very difficult to find a figure.
My goodness that reverb!
Sounds like some queso filter going into the spring so there's no excess bounce.... pretty perfect if not all the way how spring should process noise
Lucky Rick!
Thanks for sharing, sounds great!
Thank ya!
If the next season of Black Mirror's soundtrack doesn't sound like this, I don't want it. But I do want it because it's Black Mirror, this really sounds insane.
Thank you! I think I ran the arp 2600 into its own preamp to get than gnarly sound. It was either that or I ran it into an ADR Compex, I can’t remember exactly!
@@foleytronics It's pure magic
I see he got the Spanish version, "EL H3000 SE"
Wow!
wow. never heard a spring reverb that sounded like an actual physical space as much as this does.
BOINGY!!! Yeah!
So springy
Ohhhh this reverb!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEST SPRING I EVER HEARD! Where can I get one?
1970s Jamaica
I got the springs from this thing but not the top part. Want to build me a box?
Well of course!
beautiful! very cool spring reverb unit, i did not know about this one. not so common that Ace Tone rhythm box, sort of programmable?! excellent demo!
Incredible
Beautiful creature, I repair ams dmx’s myself but I’ve never gotten to use an emt
Unique sound
When an industrial operator is in charge of the doors of perception
Is that thing sitting on top of a Yamaha RA 200?
Indeed it is!
More effects units need stick shifters
Those things sound... amazing.
one of those units you could meet in those classic big studios around the globe. Most of the times, sadly, disconnected or not to be touched… „Oh, could we use this, how cool‘s that? - No, we‘d have to wire it up first, and it hasn’t been powered up for at least 5 years, so who knows if it might blow…“ So great to hear one in actual working condition. I own an EMT 252 and use it every week.
It looks like something out of Willy Wonka's factory
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Super rare! 👏🏼✊🏼
What song is this?
Thank you 🤘🏼
I once was invited to a party at this random crazy mansion near my house, they had a full recording studio and had an EMT with the levers running on wires controlling the reverb unit that was in the wine cellar...bonkers. They also had a Cooper Time Cube which I had always been interested in.
Glorious
The playing and the reverb had me in a trance..🎚️🎧😵💫👌
amazeballs
Funky
I’ve been trying not to buy the 500-series reissue… this makes it so much harder. Great vocals/guitar fed through it too… Sounded great.
Just get the plugin bro lol
@@GalileoandtheStars plug ins: butt plugs
@@GalileoandtheStars The UAD plugin isn't very good. It's not accurate at all, especially the non linear reverb that the RMX16 is famous for.
@@cjmpyt The 500 series is just the UAD plugin in a container
