Lovely! Brought back childhood memories. I grew up in the Cathedral area but closer to 13th than the Crescents. My elementary school is very close to where you stopped. I love the variety of housing types and the older trees in that area.

Good morning. Have you ever done, or considered doing, a walk east to the Albert St Memorial Bridge from the trail? That would be interesting, although less bucolic. I'd also love to see what College from Elphinstone to your digs looks like now. I used to have a fixer-upper in 24 block Montague. Wonderful to see the Waterfall Park. I've lived here for over four decades and have never visited! And thanks for telling us that it's minimal audio. I can safely mute and not be blasted into the next area code by loud commercials! However, the ambient audio at the beginning was quite acceptable. That SOB speeding past you on the bike at 22 mins deserves charges. What if you had moved left? You need a beanie mirror.

I've walked to and over the bridge many times in these videos, and along College from Elphinstone. So, keep watching and I'll get almost everywhere.

Another great video, thank you Edward. The white building with dark red trim at the corner of Robinson and 15th, that you stated may have been a commercial building at some point, was a corner store called 'Joe's' back when I was a child. I have lots of fond memories of walking to Joe's from my late grandparents' house for penny candy, ice cream or pop back in the 60's and 70s. You almost had my grandparents' house on video here (on Robinson) but just as you approached their front yard, you turned the camera to show the Lady and Lord Robinson apartments...darn! lol

Thank you for this great video Edward. You walked right past my late grandparents house on Robinson, and I was able to catch a quick glimpse of it in your video, so this was a wonderful trip down memory lane. I have so many memories of the Cathedral neighbourhood in the 60s and 70s. I see lots of changes, but it is also nice to see many of the smaller shops still remain.

18:16 - Well, whether they do or not I still, prefer to wear them in enclosed places like buses and that sort of thing. Coming here from watching your video about St. John's, Newfoundland, that popped up in my notifications. 51:03 - OK, so I said I would comment throughout your video, I've been good in not doing so, so far, but here you have reminded me of a great idea I had years ago. I'm thinking we are close to the same age, I turned 59 a couple months back, and when I was growing up throughout the 70s and 80s we had a TV guide that had a comic section in it called "The Adventures of Captain Newfoundland," and in this comic Newfoundland was always, referred to as the "Tip of Atlantis." Over the years, it occurred to me what a great and grand idea it would be if someone made either a book or movie series or both, on this very, novel idea. Sadly, no one ever did and I believe the Captain Newfoundland comic has been out of syndication for ages now. Sad really, because this filled my young, Newfi, mind with so many wonderful, adventurous, fantasies, growing up, and to this very day, I keep wondering how Newfoundland actually, formed, as there are rock formations in parts of this island that are amoung some of the very oldest, anywhere in North America I believe, if not anywhere on Earth, actually. So being the tip of the Very Ancient Continent of Atlantis seems quite, novel and interesting, indeed. The Grand Banks is a sheer drop of a mile or more I think, so who knows, maybe we were indeed, part of a larger landmass way back in primordial times. 34:35 - It has been absolutely, horrendous over this website, over the past several months Brother, as you may or may not have noticed. I get tons of my material removed constantly, and it has been driving me mental, and I've been longing to figure out how I can fight back. I hope when the government changes in the U.S. this site is investigated for this as I'm sure they are breaking free speech laws, left, right and center.

I do this sort of thing all the time and get next to no views. It always, baffles me what others do right and what I do wrong. My GoPro camera records in the fisheye effect, which terribly, distorts everything. This is so, so, much better. Sadly, don't have the money to change my camera, right now. This is amazing, I've been living in downtown, St. John's for over a year and a half now, been here some 35 to 36 odd, years now, living in different areas of town; and you cannot go anywhere in downtown St. John's right now, without coming across people hitting you up for money. I'm looking at your video and asking myself, where the heck, are all the bums to. Not making light of it, St. John's is doing a horrendous job in getting on top of its homeless problem. 23:10 - That bloody, fence, I hate that with a bitter, burning, passion. That was placed there shortly after 9/11 actually, for security reasons and was never removed after. I think it completely, ruins the look of the harbour front. When I first, came to St. John's back in the mid 80s, you could walk the full length of that dock, and get an outstanding view. It was wonderful and I used to do it all the time. St. John's is forever, taking more and more things away from the general public. Such a senseless, attitude to have. I'm one of the very few people in this province that truly, pronounce the name of the place correctly; NEW FOUND LAND. The NEW FOUND LAND, as in New FOUND Land; which of course, got mashed together to form Newfoundland. Not Newfinland. Utterly blows my mind how almost, everybody misses this and how most people don't even, care. I bet Allan too, pronounced it NewFINland, everybody does and it drives me utterly, absolutely, crazy. I see you chat a lot in your vids as well. I do this too. I've suspected this is what puts people off of my vids but at the same time, it does not feel natural to make a vid and never speak the whole time you are doing it. Sometimes commentary does help. My Best. Out. Speaking of Terry Fox; you should have went up to the end of Water Street to check out his memorial there. You seem old enough to remember his run, and I'm sure you know he began that run in St. John's.

@@EdwardWillett : Hey, Hi. Thanks for the quick reply. I live in St. John's as I said, and have made many of my own walking tour vids of the town - I don't consider it a city myself - and find it interesting watching videos of the place from people from other places. Someone in one of the comments here, mentioned the lack of people in the vid, and while I am unsure what time of day you recorded this, it says it was recorded two years ago, so we were just coming out of the pandemic I believe, so this could have been some of the reason too, why there were not more people mulling about. If you were here this Summer, so far, you'd see people all over the place. Here now, checking out one of your vids of Regina. One of your vids walking around the lake - the name escaped me - a few weeks ago. I'm about a quarter of the way through. I may comment throughout, don't be surprised. My Best from the Rock, Out For Now. 🙂🖐🏼

I remember both bus stations and the rail terminal too. I'll share what I remember . The original bus station was kind of a dump, but it did the job. I used it many times to nomad across Canada. I think the new terminal was a mistake, although very pretty and a bit easier to get to by Regina transit. One hell of a lot of walking because Greyhound east was always at the back end. As a solo traveler, I always went Greyhound for safety, speed and bottom line cost. I think I last used it in 2015 or 2016. As for the train station, I saw my mother off east in 1985 perhaps? Attractive station. I believe it closed in about 1986 or 1987.

Thanks for this. I seen a review for his book West Of January years ago and just recently I thought of it again and I read up on him, but there wasn't a lot written about him that I could see. Copies of his 2019 novel Pillar Of Darkness go for crazy prices (ebook is still available though) and I'm wondering if there's any plans to reprint that or anything else of his?
