Hiroyuki Imaishi: Master of Sakuga
Hi, today I wanted to take a look at Hiroyuki Imaishi and his work on shows like Kill la Kill, Promare, and Gurren Lagann. This man has been able to change how the world views anime, and animation as a whole. So I'm gonna take a look into what makes his Sakuga so effective, and how this attention to detail really pays off in the grand scheme of things.
So sit back, relax, and I'll show you some of the animation techniques Imaishi uses in his works.

In This Corner of the World - Hope in Tragedy (Spoiler Free Review)

In this spoiler-free analysis of the anime movie In This Corner of The World, I dive into the core themes of the film and attempt to explain what this movie directed by Sunao Katabuchi is all about. While most war movies set in World War II focus on the front lines of battle, this movie takes a more reserved approach when describing warfare. This makes the anime feel much more real in compariso...
How Gacha Games Cause Gambling Addiction

Today, I wanted to talk about how games like Fate Grand Order, Genshin Impact, and Princess Connect Re: Dive can potentially lead to gambling addiction. I feel that many of these gacha games are exploiting people, and are using anime designs to lure children into gambling. While this video may make some people upset, I feel that something needs to be said to better educate people on the dangers...

Gambling is bad, gatcha is no different. But atleast there are gatcha games that are VERY f2p friendly, like battle cats. In the game, there's a unit called bahamut cat which does MASSIVE amounts of damage and does even more when you get it's true form. The thing is, the game gives you bahamut cat for free pretty early in the game. There's even really good units that are also free, but they are locked behind challenge stages that can be beaten without uber rares.

I think there is a huge difference between classic gambling and gachas. It's the guarantee line. So if you want character X you'll get him/her after a certain amount of pulls/summons. In the casino it's never guaranteed to win something. Plus the fact that you actually can win real money makes it even more dangerous. It's clear that you can't win money in games like genshin. Fifa ultimate team for example: You can purchase gems for 200k $ and don't get a specific card. It is dangerous still but not life ruining-dangerous.

Look I 100% believe it’s gambling but if we’re going by that definition then we should call arcade games based off luck gambling or card packs gambling. I do not defend gotcha I’m just saying that the controversies shouldn’t just be limited to gotcha it should be for any gambling aimed at kids.

Well said, gacha game is both a blessing and curse. Is a blessing because they have ever evolving worlds and stories, some are genuinely well designed/written. Is a curse because most, if not all the new story content are focusing around the new characters they want you to pull, some ‘good’ games are better at disguising this, while the predatory ones do not even try to hide it at all. The developers themselves are gambling as well, every new release could either make bank or break them, I can’t imagine the pressure they get, the last minute crunch must be a common sight to behold. In my opinion gacha games are doing gaming industry more harm than good. It promotes predatory game design, putting more focus on neural marketing than the actually game play, creating more pressure on the game developers and cultivating a cutthroat culture that worship profit over anything else. Those gacha games will earn more money than any traditional games, but they will leave no legacy behind once the service ends, legacy can’t be measured by money, is a treasure for both the present and future generations.

Is it considered a gacha addiction if I only spend ingame currency to roll on character banners? I'm completely F2P, but am scared that even using the ingame resources as frequently as I do will result in the development of gacha addiction. Any tips?

    • @phiuzu5487
      @phiuzu5487 6 месяцев назад

If u r close to believing that u can get the banner character by winning 50/50, then you will gain a gacha addiction. My best advices are NEVER spend real life money on gacha games even if you want to spend little AND if you are gonna pull the character ALWAYS make sure to have enough currency to successfully get the character despite losing 50/50. Ofc this advice works only for games that have 50/50 win loss mechanics where after you lose the x amount of pulls needed to get the character....your chances to get the character in question within next x amount of pulls is 100% guaranteed. Never be fooled and always be careful even if the gacha game you are playing makes you lucky at times

imagine genshin but no wishing menu, gave all the new characters during events by completing them (no characters rarity included). no hard artifact grind, u consume one resin point to select wich artifact main stat to get after each run, substats fixed (crit rate comes with crit dmg, def comes with def%, hp comes with hp%, healing bonus comes with outgoing healing...), resin points are obtained in chests and events. no RNG in farming, farming drops and difficulty is indeed based on your level, but you don't have to spend months to grind max level, u simply have to do quest to level up, no exp count needed, then do a domain fight each 10 levels to test your strength, so that world level can increase. the story is released chapter by chapter by each version, but the events are not necessary for the story, they just temporary fun side games, with not much dialogue, they come with some story to explain their relation to the lore, you can go through its story in 2 to 5 minutes and then play the event game as you like. abyss is a permanent event just to test your combat strength, and get used to new enemies. the enemies in it are never higher level than those in a max world level open world. everything from chests and events to abyss gives free resourses and resin points, those resin points are used for farming. there is no daily login resin or daily battle pass, there is no battle pass in fact so don't worry, you can skip a few days and not miss out. you can skip a whole version update if you don't like the events and their free characters, weapons, and rewards. it's not like you're supposed to obsess over gathering some primos to spend on gambling after 6 months to get one character that you love, and skip 3 others that you like too but decided to sacrifice getting them. A paid game to download but totally free to play in their server, that's exponentially better for my sanity and comfort.

a very important aspect is the manipulation or the induction of false sensations in the mind with sound design , there was this day when i played my final match on the game super mecha champions before i unnistalled it, i closed the game and some sound got bugged and it would keep playing in the background, generating anxiety while i was listening to music and browsing the web, in one moment my mind couldn't take it anymore and decided to stop it, i realized that the sound that was bugged and stuck on repeat was the sound effect used for the footsteps of the characters inside the game, in that moment i understood that every time i would feel anxiety or my pulse rate would increase inside a match was caused by that fucking sound, the constant sound of tap tap tap tap tap would generate a constant sense of anxiety in my mind, that was the reason why i would end up with my hands shaking after a stressful match, and i wouldn't have realized if the game didn't bugged itself while trying to function as supposed, once i shut down the app from my settings the sound stopped and i would feel relief and my mind would finally relax you know, it is common knowledge in things related to our consciousness , about how you can influence your mind to generate things for you, just like you can influence someone to like you or to convince someone to get help, well here the same strategy is used but to induce many false sensations, anxiety, desperation, the creation of a need for something you don't actually want or even require, and like it happened to me, the creation of a false psychological sensation that wasn't actually there, the sensation of an anxiety that didn't even exist until it was forced by that little sound, these people are not idiots, and they know not just how to influence the mind, but to influence consciousness, to make you believe that every choice you make inside a game and even before you decided to enter the game comes from you and not from an entire system manufactured to force you to choose and be part of it, and once you get inside all your choices are controlled by specific aspects that functions according to an order which keeps your choices in line so the game can lead you where it wants you to, of course the main goal is to make you spend money like a whale, other goals are addiction, emotional responses, nostalgic feelings, a false sense of responsibility, a connection with characters so it becomes hard to abandon them and the progress you have with them, and if you abandon them you get a sense of guilt that only goes away if you return to the game, and when you return the game incentives you with cute free gifts, thus making the confirmation that returning to the game was the only reasonable choice that could make you happy and remove the sense of guilt from your mind looks like i described life in general haha, let that sink in for a moment.

@Weebus Supremus. Good video! I was thinking about how much things have changed in the US (and maybe elsewhere) with regards to gambling. When my wife and I were growing up, it was difficult to gamble and gambling was seen in a very negative light by most people (waste of money, for "loser" people, etc.). You had to physically travel to Las Vegas or to a few other small places in the US to gamble. Now, you have sports gambling over your phone, state lotteries and scratch-off games that are available at your local convenience store, gacha games, lots more casinos, etc. The ease of access to gambling is much more pervasive so it is likely that there are lots more gambling addicts now. I must see 4 to 5 gambling ads per day on TV promoting sports gambling in particular, although I also see Hoyoverse ads a lot on youtube promoting their games. Unfortunately, I don't see an easy solution because gambling has become widely accepted and ingrained into society now to point where if you DON'T gamble in some form, you are a minority. Gambling addiction is particularly concerning for young people because these gacha games and other forms are gambling are often a way for them to feel like they are socially-accepted and part of a trendy community. And, many of the gacha games realize this, and promote the establishment of social communities on youtube and other social places in order to keep people addicted and gambling in the game. Therefore, youtube and other social media are also indirectly promoting gambling addiction. This is why I say that the gambling has become so ingrained in society that there is no easy solution to preventing gambling addiction.

It's not simple. Ppl don't become addicts without influence from a lot of complex factors. Also while there are individuals who are to be blamed for gambling that doesn't mean the casino can't be blamed for it. Its ironic how you're using cliche type excuses that the blame is only on the one side and make yourself be a manchild by adding a lie to a certain truth. Responsibility isn't only on one side it's on all sides who are participating in immorality.

what is your definiteion of sakuga tho? the way ive always heard it used is high frame rate, highly detailed shots, usually for action or otherwise important sequences. the only sakuga that comes to mind in kill la kill is the transformation sequences (and maybe a few select fight scenes) however i think KLK, and much of imaishis work, is actually notable for how great it looks despite its distinct lack of sakuga. they love using low frame rates (or even a single frame of a character getting moved about) for heightened dramatic impact. IMO imaishi's style isn't sakuga, but rather action-comedy- as seen in jackie chan movies- tons of tension and release, buildup and payoff. Ygg studio has a video called "Explosive Payoffs in Kill La Kill's Opening Scene" which does a great play by play on this. also makes reference to Every Frame a Painting's video "Jackie Chan - How to Do Action Comedy", highly recommend both

Heck I max out Starters, and Low grade characters lol. But I do understand why. Money makes the game function. Real changes in the gatcha game landscape? Like whats your solution? Psh you people would never be satisfied because the "real change" you are looking for is removing it entirely. Causes problem for children and predatory? If you don't a modicum of self control yeah. I actually like games with gatcha mechanics. The way progression works, resource management, and the thrills of the spin appeal to me. I see gatcha like soft drinks. Yeah it would probably massively benefit the world if they were zap'd out of the market cause hey it causes (Health/Gambling) risks in kids and "vulnerable" adults, no inherit benefits aside from making you happy. Personally though id never agree to it and I hope those "real changes" never come to pass.

One thing is that these gaming companies specifically prey on human psychology. When rolling for characters, everything down to the presentation, wait times, audio, etc is specifically chosen to tickle our brains in all the right places. While some have the resolve to stay F2P until the end, that doesn't mean the game isn't forming addictive tendencies in their brains. The fact that games like Genshin can manipulate players into logging in every day to do 10-15 minutes of daily quests as a literal chore says enough, in a way. We're in a world where such companies actually hire psychologists to help make their games as addicting as possible. Ideally desiring to trap people in a kind of infinite loop of servitude to their game and to profit off of people who are more susceptible to addiction. I feel that this cannot be healthy or be, objectively, seen as a force for good. If something is free, you are likely part of the product. Even if you stay F2P, you may go around telling people the game is good and isn't P2W. You inadvertently become part of the marketing team, and you also keep the community feeling alive to attract more players and help hold onto current players. Some of the people you attract to the game may not be as strong-willed as you. Maybe they're even going through some depression and so that hit of dopamine could be an unhealthy vice they adopt to feel 'good' for a few minutes. Paying money for a hit of dopamine is not unlike a drug.

Gacha games are not make for everyone No: The gacha system is here ONLY and ONLY if you fall on it if you can spend hundreads off money in a gacha game if they don't regret or think they lost something then it fine. You say that "Some people you attract to the game may not be as strong-will as you" is like everything you with less extension for exemple i can say too someone that he would like you too do bodybuilding the person doo it and then became addict too it if he was in some system or such, not really but you did indeed attract someone too do it is that make you someone who make people addict. No and is soo too gacha games and too bassicly everything Remember, everything could be a addiction is that make you some kind off evil people too share someone a gacha game that you like .No. For what i sayed before plus you cannot if like something that isn't bad you can share with everyone people can actually and find the game good maybe he could like the community the codes off the community the legends off it ect...) If it affect you in a good way you can share things that you could never be doing in life is for that and some other reason that being addict too gacha games is far more better than drugs, pornography, casino ect...) You can learn something good by almost everything even a gacha game
