Love your cat, but I can't say the same for your daughter...

As a senior who has a cat who is my little companion, I can't imagine a loved one would want to sadden their mother by suggesting she give up her cat. How cruel. Wait until you can't care for the cat then decide if having to leave your home.. But knowing how much the cat is needed then find someone that can come in and tend to the cat as well as the person. I agree Seniors find great companionship in pets, provides a reason to care for something else, nurturing their pet. If she is functioning alone, then I am not understanding the need for her to give up her cat. How cruel and would hurt me deeply if my cat was taken away. If the daughter cares about the mother, then the cat would be there with her.

Please do not give up Mr Whiskers. If he goes into a home he may be put to sleep. There is no reason to give him up. Your daughter sounds like she has never been a cat owner otherwise she would not be putting this pressure on you. I have cats and will always have cats in my life. Life without a cat is worthless.
