Bonsai repot: Elevate your skills

It was time to repot this Japanese black pine. I normally don’t remove so much root on a jbp but the soil was very compact under the trunk and needed to be improved. There’s also a change in style from a full cascade to a semi cascade along a pot more suitable for the style and development of the tree.

You know.. for some reason I remember your name! So I went to my previous videos and there you are mentioning this tree is so unattractive and that I should detach the dead wood and make a tanuki. You also mentioned it’s impossible to bend the branches… Now you’re saying it’s a tanuki and that you don’t touch a CJ roots. My man, this tree was collected by Al in the Mojave. He’s wife actually saw my video and mentioned it. I contacted Al and it was nice to know this trees history. Anyway…. I’ve told you before you could see the results in 5 years. It’s been 2 years, so I still have 3 more! The tree structure is basically set so, apart from dead wood work it’s just letting it grow and style better. In end it’s my tree and I enjoy the result very very very much…
