    Quite enjoyed your video, first one I have seen! I think most of us have trouble convincing our brains that not everything needs to be representational! I start out abstract then find myself overworking the painting! I like your methods.

    Lovely tutorial, Sondra. I am an abstract painter, here in the Canadian Rockies and happy to say that I am older than you and still reap the benefits of painting, for myself. I too, see the influence of landscape in my work but sometimes struggle to incorporate all the happy colours. I am encouraged by your pleasant voice, to work more spontaneously. Thank you.

      Oh Thankyou. Yes it’s hard to see and evaluate your own work. I find it hard to not put too many bright gappy colours around the canvas. Then I can’t go d the focal point. It’s like a dance adding and subtracting.

      That’s fine it’s just a reminder for me. They are What is your initial impression of the piece ? What 3 words describe the art? What are the best features of the art ? What makes it strong ? What makes it weak ? Put the artwork away first and few days or a week and come back to these questions Time out is always helpful. Just go for it and don’t overthink it. Hope this helps. Xx
