What the difference between the premium and sell back ? Is the sell back the spot price ? Sometimes it isn’t, right ?

Would you say $100 for one is reasonable?

I look forward to buying my 1st 1/2oz 🥇 Britannia (I only want the purest gold, just a personal preference 🏴‍☠️). I will also be buying a 1kg Silver Bullion Cast Bar. It will be interesting to see how much it will be worth in 10 years and how well it’s performed against inflation.

The only real issue to take into account is VAT as they're both considered 'legal tender'. The Sovereign is 91.67% and not considered 'investment quality. Current Britannia's are 99.99% and considered investment quality (as a bar of gold would be). Saving 20% on the cost makes this a no-brainer for me. The premium would have to be through the roof in comparison for me to even look at a Sovereign. Immune from VAT for the 99.99% and immune to Capital Gains tax for being Legal Tender... how can you beat VAT and CGT free? (I live in the UK and this is true there)

1. Do you worry about buying graded coins or it doesn’t really matter as long as you buy from a reputable dealer? 2. If buying non-graded, how best to store them? I see these lovely cases of yours and wonder where you get them from? Are they very protective long-term? Thank you.

Sadly the Royal Mint has released a 2023 dated Britannia showing the late QE!! who died in 2022. Very poor taste. The gold should have been recyched to show the new king.

The main thing with using gold is that there is only a fixed finite amount of gold. Meanwhile, fiat money can be printed.

Fractionals are never as good value for money as the full coin, so, if you can't afford a full Britannia don't buy a quarter, instead buy a full Gold Sovereign at a similar price.

Brittanias are the most beautiful coin in my opinion. I don't have a 1/10 oz gold but i do have one in platinum. Not only is it the most beautiful coin but it's the most beautiful coin with the most security features to date

the premium is higher on the quarter oz britania , the sogv is a quarter oz . so thats why the premium is like that . if you compare the quarter brit to the sogv you will get a more honest output . premiums on oz coins are always less than the fractural coins .

I like your videos and obviously I know they’re a couple of years old now I’m thinking of buying some gold sovereigns or Britannia one of your other video seems to contradict the findings on this one and I wondered if the premiums are much different buying from the Royal Mint rather than one of the other gold retail specialist. do you have any views or advice and have you ever done the video or considered one which you show the process of selling one or 2 ounces and how much loss is made based on the premium? Plus how do you go about trying to sell something, do you just put it on eBay. How do people prove authenticity, and if I wanted to prove authenticity of some Britannia I’ve got should I own some specialist weighing scales or some kind of chemical thing that detects improves whether something is gold or not? The last thing I really want to do is break it open the capsules start rubbing things on the coins but it is something I think about. I’ve got a small amount right now but I’m considering making a hefty purchase because I’m fed up inflation reducing my savings. Best regards.

What about a coin that is rare (as the mintage is 250 or less). It would be £1150 over the spot price. In other words the coin is £2995.00 and the rate of gold on that day is £1850 gbp. Is this coin worth it?

New subscriber here. I started stacking a months ago mainly silver Britannia. But i wondering is it best to start gathering gold sov or stick to a few brits a month rather than 1 sov every 2 months im from the uk also.

2.8% premum on Britannas, and 5% premum on Sovereigns on 7/4/2024 based on Atkinson's Prices, the Britannia is definitely a better deal

Even without the VAT it is a 33% premium roughly meaning the price of silver per ounce has to increase by 33% just to break even on your investment on the second hand market. And this is assuming you can sell at the spot price which isn't always the case.

The tenth's and quarter's will be easier to sell if you need some money in a hurry in the future. The way things might be going a quarter might be worth what a full ounce is right now in about 20 years.

i agree mentally it feels better to get 24k gold but the 22k gold is not as soft so it can take being handled more.

Out of interest, 1 oz Britannia’s seem to have the smallest premiums. Why buy 4 x 1/4 oz and pay huge premiums?

I collect Sovereigns here in the US. I love them. I only own one Britannia. I would rather stack Eagles or Maples than Britannias, but I adore Sovereigns. There is something just magical. I own coins with Queen Victoria and George and Edward and the recently departed Queen Elizabeth. Here, I can often get Sovereigns at or close to melt. For Maples I pay $100 premium. For eagles I pay more like $120-$150. Sovereigns are the better choice (my last Elizabeth was $6 ($25 per oz) over melt. So I love sovereigns. So even in the US Sovereigns are the best, but these are all used.

If the price of gold goes a lot higher, it would be a good idea to have gold that you could actually sell more easily than 1 oz. But I feel 1/4 oz is the smallest a person should stack, based on high premiums of 1/10 oz.

Yes but when peoples jobs don’t keep up with the devaluation of the currency, their dollars aren’t going to go to a $20 lb box of chocolate. It will go to good fuel and repairs.
