Sanam sahb, it is disappointing to see that instead of choosing a dedicated government school teacher-someone who truly works at the grassroots level, understands the challenges of the teaching-learning process, and is aware of the real implementation of NEP 2020 in classrooms-you opted for a forum representative. This decision undermines the credibility of the discussion, as the chosen individual seems disconnected from the realities of schools and student enrollment. As a teacher, I can confidently state that NEP 2020 has already become an integral part of our education system, even at the grassroots level. Learning outcomes are being prioritized, and efforts are being made to bring meaningful changes to government schools. However, the representative from private schools appears to lack awareness of the flaws within their own institutions. Many private schools continue to rely on outdated, traditional teaching methods, emphasizing rote learning and even resorting to corporal punishments. Unfortunately, private schools in Kashmir have largely turned into profit-making enterprises. The representative's defense of such practices only highlights their indifference to the actual needs of students and educators. On the other hand, the government school representative seems either unable or unwilling to bring these harsh truths to light. One represents selfish interests, while the other remains oblivious to the reality on the ground. It’s high time that voices from the ground level-those who live the struggles and triumphs of education every day-are given the platform to ensure a fair and constructive discussion. Education is too important to be misrepresented. Let’s bring in voices that matter.
