    USA ≠ all Western civilization. Everything shown then is ONLY relevant to American animation, when European animation is still releasing art after art. Don't Americanise everything around you, please.

    Hey, remember when companies made 2D animated movies that weren't based on an already-existing TV show? Remember when Disney poorly funded, poorly marketed, and mistreated their 2D animated movies in the 2000s and then used the poor box-office returns that came about because of it as an excuse make all of their future movies 3D animation? So let me get this straight. Animation companies, through mostly their own doing, screwed over 2D animated films and then used the fact that those movies were doing poorly as an excuse to make all of their films 3D animated. Okay, look, maybe 3D animation companies like Pixar may have contributed to 2D animation's death because people were interested in, what was new at the time, animation technology, but it's not like people were completely sick of 2D animation, they were just tired of the usual Disney-esk films.

    The only thing missing on this edit are a buncha TV shows. The likes of Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, Batman Beyond, Disney's Gargoyles, Star Wars: Clone Wars 2003, Cybersix and so on, have many moments that can equal if not surpass even the best movies of then and now.

    Animation used to be a whole universe of possibilities, it was a beautiful world where everything is possible. Now half the time it's either used to push politics, or it's just an attempt to recreate past success by "adapting" old cartoon for today. Can we just have anything nice?

    • @boop004

      Very true! 20th century animation actually dared to be creative and use the mediums as INTENDED, to tell a story. Lol. Cannot understate the disconnect from those times.

    The thing i hate the most is that they pretty much got completely rid of 2D and hand drawn movies. Obviously i get that it‘s a huge amount of work but it at least really paid off since i do really miss watching movies that were like the old cartoons simply because of how they looked like. Don‘t get me wrong, there are good CGI heavy movies that look beautiful too but simply seeing a movie again that had the same looks to it like all the old cartoons.

    I miss the 90s and early 200s. Your identity was what you brought to the world. Atlantis is great because it made diverse characters not feel super imposed. All members are physically capable. And experts in their field. Their identity was their profession not their skink colour. A large dr also he is strong. A small young mechanic. A sleepy bomb maker. An ocd earth scientist. An old woman in charge of listening for sounds in the ocean. All of the characters are amazing because their profession is opposite to what you expect. A dr is supposed to be smart not big. A mechanic is supposed to be an old man. A bomb maker that is sleepy and isn’t on edge all of the time or excited. A earth scientist who exist is in a world full of chaos but tries to sort everything. An old women who is in charge of a task that requires good hearings.

    The thing is that 2d animation is a lot harder than 3d animation as it requires an artist to draw a frame by frame version of the movie which is a whole lot more time consuming and obviously as a result would be more expensive. However, because each frame is individually constructed and not synthesised artists are able to give more attention to detail whereas 3d rendering is enough of a challenge to smooth and make sure that arms don’t go through torsos and stuff like that, stuff that would never unintentionally happen when made by a human. Because of this, newer movies that use 3d animation are easier to make and resultantly are more common in modern film media but undeniably the visual spectacle of 2d animation is unmatched. The attention to detail allowed movies to better represent the scale and brilliance of settings/characters which emphasised the awe and wonder of what you were watching. I can guarantee that everyone here has had a memory in their life as a kid staring up at a tv or theatre screen with wide eyes, open mouth, still and silent in awe of the magnificence of a scene, the colours seem brighter, the sound apart from the movie fills and you truly feel like you are in the movie, you can feel the magnitude of the scene. It’s sad that the newer generation will never get to experience that pure form of childhood, new 3d animation just doesn’t do it like it used to. The absolute brain rot of modern kids movies doesn’t help either, there’s no wonder, no boundless imagination; just cheap potty humour and even cheaper moviemaking because sadly we live in a world where no matter what companies produce people will buy it. Does anyone else remember how it was?

    • @boop004
      @boop004 8 дней назад

      I may have missed the golden generation of animation ... but I was at least I wasn't born yesterday, with no framing of quality. 2000s and 2010s was my childhood, it had some serviceable 2D animation and good enough storytelling in the wider industry, though it was in decline. Looking back into the 70s, 80s and 90s though, I see apparently everything good's already been written! 😂 Not that it's a good excuse, but your average modern director or producer will try anything to excuse mediocrity.

    • @liamfredrick9284
      @liamfredrick9284 8 дней назад

      I’m also from the 2000’s and I agree that the over abundance of stories have made it more difficult to break apart from generic structures. However, so long as there are people who are able to think in the world there are people who are able to dream, people able to dream of what could be. These dreams inspire wonder in people which on a near spiritual way can connect a person to their innermost self and even to others. This connection of wonder held deep in the heart of humanity is why we an are drawn to stories as they essentially are a person revealing their innermost being and allowing others to reflect on their own. This “heart and soul” behind storytelling is why it exists in the first place and is why regardless of how many stories exist in the world there will always be stories that will resound within our innermost being. The only problem is that the over abundance of stories makes these difficult to find and large companies created by growing consumerism which seek only to take your money will purposely hide these cinematic masterpieces by sabotaging small cinema companies seeking to provide quality stories and flood viewers vision with low effort quantity over quality focused movies as can be seen with was Marvel is currently doing because we as viewers have in a large part lost the knowledge of what is a good story and mindlessly follow big companies’ movies because of the faint memories of what they used to stand for and the movies they once made. I’m not even going to go into how Ai’s heartless scriptwriting is causing people to forget what stories are supposed to be as I’m writing this at 2am but would be interested to further discuss your opinions on the film industry (Yes I know how weird this reply sounds, I was just writing a theology paper)
