Oh wow a new revision of the Megagrrl using a micro as card. Great job! 😊 What else have you improved?
The most important improvement of this version is the use of a high-efficiency DC-DC step-down module, which generates almost no heat. And the SN76489 volume adjustment knob is added.😄 If you’re interested, you can buy it on Tindie.
Great video! I like CSM Mode. I enjoy playing with it in OPN2.
😄

Hi @Denjhang, I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask, but in the GitHub project for the OPN-OPLL-MegaMod-v0.4, you mention a component for L1, and I’m unclear whether these are inductors or resistors. The schematic indicates an inductor with a value of 100Ω, which has me confused. I’m not an electronics expert-could you please clarify what this component is? Thank you.
L1 is an inductor, usually used to separate digital and analog power supplies. You can replace it with a resistor less than 10 ohms, the smaller the better. Of course, you can also fill it directly with tin.😄
@@denjhang316 if I want to use an inductor, what nH value I should use?
@ 100uH or 47uH😄I actually think this value is pretty arbitrary, the only projects that really standardize the power circuit are the RE2 sound modules and the SPFM motherboard, that project has 100uH between VCC and A.VCC, 47uH between GND and A.GND, and a 100uH winding inductor is added between each sound module's power supply and the motherboard's power supply.
@@denjhang316 Great I will try it. Thank you 😊
🎧🎶
what's special about this compute unit?
It is a real 68k system and can run programs from an sd card.😄
🎧🎶
Could you make the Expansion chip rom boards too? ❤
@@superdeadite Of course I can do that, as long as you pay me. 😄
@@denjhang316 I just want to know what you're planning to make so I could order more at once as shipping has gotten expensive. Lol.
@@superdeadite I will try to make it and if I succeed you can buy it.
@@superdeadite You can indeed order more, and I can help you with shipping costs or provide a discount code.
@@superdeadite I investigated and found that the expansion chip board you want may not be very useful. Because Mami does not currently support playing nsf format, and vgmplay does not seem to support playing vgm music with fc expansion chip, which is only used through mami.😅😅
Finally, the Fami port! Don't see it listed on your shop yet though.
It will be there soon 😂

Nice work!
Thank you for watching! 😉😄
Nice! 🎧🎶
This is just the beginning, I have so much more planned. 😉
What chips is it using?
OPLL + PSG + Konami SCC😄or YM2413 + AY8910 +K051649
However, SCC is not used in the video.😄
What is this machine? Who coded the tracker?
This is an MSX2+ compatible machine made with FPGA, which I named u2-SX Mini. The MuPlay software was written by the Japanese decades ago.😄
Please add a 15pin Famicom Expansion port adapter. (I want to use the Fami Disk System rom over FDSSTICK.)
I can add DB15 port for you. 😄😂
me too
Thank you for taking the time to describe this
Now that's what I call music!
Is it a player or can you also edit the fm sounds and use to synth? Its got great sound capabilities.
This is just a player. The SPFM I sell can be used for music synthesis. You can adjust the FM parameters at any time and use a midi keyboard to control it.😄

Is there a GitHub for this?

Woah wait there's a device that extracts music?
@Omair1963 vgmrips.net😄
I see improved buttons with matching case, and both cables now go out the back (which is an excellent improvement honestly). Anything else new? ❤
@@superdeadite To be honest, I have always been dissatisfied with the rusty shell, so the more advanced version directly removed the rusty shell and changed to a flat layout, thus reducing a lot of thickness. The new thing is that Xiaoyu is designing a 2a03 hardware player that supports playing NSF and VGM.😄
It sounds like, the game itchy and scratchy type of nes game music. It has same tones insurgent sound.😅
This look so cool ! Awesome Job :D
Nice. Curious, if you connect one of your OPL2 boards to this adapter, and played OPL2 vgms, would it just work? MAmidiMEmo only uses the I/O ports for sending data to OPL3 carts, so it might just work. I always wanted a real OPL2 cartridge for MSX, but I doubt there is enough interest for anyone to ever build a specific cartridge for it, so this would be a good compromise.
@@superdeadite This card is compatible with the full range of OPL chips including Y8950, OPL1/2/3. If you use YM3812 or YM3526, VGMPlay will only recognize it as OPL3, so you may need 2xOPL2 or 2xOPL1 to play OPL3 tracks, which has no effect on tracks below OPL2, because these three chips are register compatible and forward compatible.
@@denjhang316 I already have MSX-Audio, OPL3, and OPL4. Now I just want to hear OPL2 music on a real OPL2. :) Will this adapter be sold at your store soon? I will certainly buy one.
@@superdeadite I currently sell both the OPL series and the OPM sound card, you can buy both. I have uploaded it to Tindie. But you can't open the link yet because it takes time to review. www.tindie.com/products/36250/ www.tindie.com/products/36251/

the lcd be like : why u do this to me?
I have no idea what this is, but I like it.😂
@@superdeadite This is an electronic music box that you can buy.😄
@@denjhang316 I get that, but what does it respond to? GM MIDI?
@@superdeadite It only has a very simple sequencer, and the sound is very monotonous, because it is all based on a simple logic gate chip, you need to modify the circuit to compose music. If you need MIDI, I suggest you buy the SPFM series hardware.
@@denjhang316 I'm always curious about new MIDI modules. I was wondering if this was similar to how the BeepBlaster works.
@@superdeadite The beepblaster is obviously a GM module based on a microcontroller, but only the simplest logic circuit is used in the video, so it does not support any midi function at all. This is just a music box specially prepared for retro hardware geeks. Among all the music hardware I have made, only the SPFM series supports GM.😅
Nice! 🎧🎶
This is soo cool !! I'd like to see a mod tracker on one of these... maybe a dedicated mod tracker unit. time for me to get to work! :) thanks for the inspiration! :)

One of my first programs where I learned how to connect to other programs and get deep into audio! Awesome loop ❤
So final version will have SSG adjustment? Thank you. ❤ I was worried that feature wouldn't be included.
This version implements many modifications, including adding power supply filtering and ground isolation, changing DRAM, and simplifying the decoding logic. It is close to the final version in terms of functionality. It now provides very clear sound quality, and you can no longer hear any bus noise from the MSX.😄
@@denjhang316 So the final sale version will have all these extras right? I asked Sander about SSG adjustment, and he said it wasn't a planned feature, which made me a bit disappointed to be honest. But, if the final version will have it and all the extras then, I think I will go for one. The Niga cart's SSG is a rear mounted screw pot, so a bit of a pain to adjust during playback, I really like your "side wheels." Btw, will this only be sold at Sander's shop? Or will you be doing direct sales too?
@@superdeadite Sander's plan is to produce the OPNA single card without modifying the case, so the cartridge with any extra features will not have a case. Of course I am planning to design a case for this cartridge, so you don't have to worry about it. But I have reached an agreement with him that he will only release this hardware initially.
What's the music?
Lord Monarch (a PC-9801 game)😄
So are you the one making the supersoniqs version then?
😄yes
@@denjhang316 Will this cart play the weird SSG voice/drum samples in Rusty correctly? (Either by MAMI or MSX VGMPlay)
@@superdeadite MSX VGMPLAY does not have such a high interrupt rate, so it cannot play any SSG-PCM. So far only SPFM and MegaGRRL can play this type of VGM correctly, and MegaGRRL can even play tracks with super high interrupt rates like SNDH. You can buy the two hardware I mentioned, both are in stock.
@@denjhang316 Thanks, I was just wondering if this cart had any improvements over the NigaHP cartridge that I already have.
@@superdeadite I analyzed the original makoto and found that niga's audio circuit design was unreasonable, so the version I made should at least sound much better. However, vgmplay does not have the ability to play SSG-PCM, so it can only make noise.
Cool stuff
Hold the camera straight
can i connect midi and play live ? or is there a way to compose an track and save it as spc ?
If you prefer to use midi, I recommend you to buy my SPFM series hardware, because it supports MIDI control. Currently you can convert IT to SPC format through conversion tools, or use the Furnace Tracker to generate SPC directly.
