Just A Minute - Series 67 Omnibus (Part One)
1:54:47, the profound depths of Nicholas' ego, conveniently remembering that he was part of Marias dream, but also conveniently forgetting that it turned into a horrible nightmare. As kenneth would say, his behavior is a disgrace. Its Aimi Macdonald all over again
1:43:14, Nicholas objects to Gyles flirting and flattering Maria, cuz he feels that ony the chairman ahoukd be allowed to flirt and flatter the lady guests.
1:32:45, the audience awww in sympathy cuz they hatedthat someone interruoted Marias put downz and immediately afterwards, Nicholas' vanity and ego cant help but think that the audience were turning on her. Nevermind that Nicholas was at the age that if a girl says 'no' he should be profoundly grateful.
132:02, time for everyones favorite drinking game, can Nicholas get into Maria's Knickers?
1:55:02 paul goes in order of ehat he takes off and to anofholas thats nit him saying thats the irder he takes his flothes off and then assumes hes a perverted.oerson because he thonks he has his underwear on the outisde of his trousers? ,
2:21, yes it was hesitation, Clement stopped.
1:16:50, Nicholas hacking up a lung
1:16:17, you can actually hear Nicholas' disgust and revulsion
Too much Brandreth
It is so fun to find episodes that I have never heard before.
There are a lot of things/phrases that Nicholas used over the course of his career on jam that become quite irritating if you happen to binge listen to these shows like I do. He has a tendency to 'right, there we are' often in quick succession when he is trying to string thoughts together or can't think of anything else to say. In addition, during the latter half of his life and career, he tended to use the phrase 'benefit of the doubt' more often than was necessary, so much so it became a humorous commodity on the program, especially when Nicholas once erroneously claimed that people bribe him for the benefit of the doubt. Or he tries to 'redress the balance' in order to maintain the delusion that he is being fair to people, despite the evidence to the contrary.
Ive always been of the opinion that if you were under the weather, u shoukd stay home. And if youve lost your voice and cant use it properly as part of your means of earning a living, why not juststay home? Do the Bbc nit provide health insurance for it performers or is it all National Health
7:39, five seconds after Linda challenged Tony, nicholas forgets that she was the one that challenged. And yet he bores people to tears with inconsequential anecdotes from 39 years ago!
Oh, now Nicholas is admonishing panelists for playing to the audience? Thats rich given he allowed Kenneth Williams to play to the audience frequently.
1:06:34, ah the infamous round on Green Fingers and the Herbacious Borders incident. This was an absolute classic, especially with Nicholas trying to say that its possible that herbacious.borders can outwit someone, but doesnt do a good job trying to justify that rubbish.
1:03:19, anything for a laugh. Yeah, its nice that you do that Nick... Its a shame they still dont come in spite of your best efforts.
58:34, you hesitated on your pausing. As we journey further into the 2000s, Nicholas grasp on English slipped more and more
Episode 9, on Achilles Linda is correct, there is such a thing as extra wide fittings for shoes, you see them in every damn shoe store! What the hell do you think the W on certain shoes stands for? It means it's a wide fitting! And yet Nick has the efforntery to say that Linda 'hasnt got a leg to stand on'. The arrogance of this man, staggering.
Episode 7, Nicholas says that contractions and the use of apostrophes is part of colloquial English... No it bloody isnt! Its part of basic English, not even colloquial English.
37:46, 'hes deviating, im never asleep' You couldve fooled me aith the amount of times he's stated 'oh im.sorry i wasnt listening, i wasnt paying attention, ive got to eake up now'.
I surprised Paul didn’t say Tonto when talking about Gyle’s spaghetti western
Remember when the BBC gave us quality entertainment and not rigidly imposed diversity?
52:57, the exchange between Ken and Sheila is definitely one of the funniest. Ken tries to do his usual chauvinist tirade and then tries to put forth the erroneous idea that he is the personification of all that is butch and masculine on the program, to which Sheila can only counter by saying 'so am I'. Absolutely brilliant
49:45, it wouldnt be the anniversary of JAM without Nicholas grabbing someones buzzer and pressing it. But lord have mercy he really stepped in it when Sheila, for once in her life, didnt come to Nicholas' defense. That was hilarious, especially his reaction
41:43, Nicholas putting on a three act play explaining that hes got panelists on either side, which is why it was difficult to hear 'corn' and 'corner'. Sheila points out she heard Paul say it and shes firther away from him, which indicates shes got better hearing than Nick, and his only rebuttal is that she bites babys bottoms.which has nothing to do with good or bad hearing.
38:29, once again, Nicholas lying his pants off, and taking umbrage at being made fun of and is all like 'i wouldbe given it against anyway'. He says hes never spoken to the audience except to encourage them. Nevermind he chastised the audience near the start of the show by reminding them that theyre pmaying a game and they may not like panelists being i terrupted but those are the rules. Thats not encouragement is it?
26:14, Sheila finally gets her own back!
23:45, clement did say 'epitomizes', he managed to bluff nicholas and Paul.
20:58, thats the third time hes denied Sheilas challenge despite it being legitimate.
17:16, it wouldnt be the anniversary of JAM without people poking fun at Nicholas for his nonsense amd Nicholas again taking umbrage at being made fun of
16:47, sheila had legitimate challenges and twice was denied.
Ah, the 35th anniversary special, with Sheila Hancock back representing the shows early days alongside Clement
1:53:14, despite making another recording in the same location not that long ago, Nicholas forgot they were in Dorset and thought they were in Hampshire and just as the audience were rising up to lynch him, he tried to cover up his mistake by saying Bout emouth was in Hampshire when he was a child, and that he only said it was in ahampshire to mkae sure the audie ce were alive and awake, once more taking no accountability for his monumental screw up.
1:30:50, Nicholas states at the end of the round on Cantebury Tales, after learning that Clement has the whole of the Cantebury Tales memorized, that its taken Clement all these years to show that his education wasn't wasted, and once the audience turns on Nicholas he tries to defend himself by saying he didn't mean it as a snide remark but as a compliment. I'm sorry, but when you state that its taken someone a long time to show that their education wasnt wasted, that seems to imply that you personally think that they haven't done ANYTHING useful or meaningful with their education during the whole of their life up to the point where they can recite from memory The Cantebury Tales on a stupid panel game.
1:30:03, we were reaching a point considering that Clement was the last surviving member of the Original Foursome, that Nicholas would say things like 'Clement loves getting his points', as though he was talking about an old man in a nursing home that loves stewed prunes.
1:16:50, Derek: 'repetition of I' Nick: 'shut up!' After all the confusion of Nick thinking Derek made a humorous comment when he challenged and Derek trying to explain what really happened, and despite the fact that Kenneth was allowed to get away with challenging Liza for three 'hers', he tells Derek to shut up for challenging on 'I'? I find it both frustrating and hilarious when Nick proclaims that he isn't going to allow repetition of small words, and yet people still challenge on them and cuz he has to be fair he allows it.
2:14:16, Nicholas admonishes Clement for the way he rubs it in on Graeme by saying 'hesitation, repetition of filming'. the hypocrisy annoys me greatly because Nicholas FREQUENTLY does the very same thing, rubbing it in that a person did this this and the other thing, saying they were dreary, boring and devious and any number of other things that don't need to be brought up by the chairman. why is it perfectly okay for Nicholas to do it, but not when the other panelists do it?
Again my sincere thanks for uploading these wonderful memories.
Good freaking God the First episode the audience applaud Derek's insult to Sheila and Nick unsuccessfully tried to claim they were clapping in sympathy for Sheila.
12:35, 'we dont want Just a Minute to become a battleground of the sexes' Its a little late for that quite frankly
10:19, 'i think im gonna disagree with everything Derek says from now on' When has he ever agreed with Derek? One of the primary running gags was Derek and nicholas butting heads with each other over Dereks challenges and decisions being made by the chairman.
Graeme gardens debut is pretty cool, but I didn't like how Peter was treated by Nick. But I did love how Peter just threw caution to the wind and did whatever the hell he wanted since it was clear Nick wasn't going to be fair to him, as usual.
They danced by the light of the moon.
I listen to JAM every day while work - I have always wondered though did Paul Merton have a huge tantrum if he didn’t win? The excessive bonus points from Nickolas on some episodes were ridiculous.
You don't happen to have an archive of the Kitchen Cabinet do you?
I'm afraid I don't.

👍
“Dear gardens world; my husband cant find my clematis” 😂
Some of these later episodes are funny but its really difficult listening to Nicholas get more and more elderly and doddery and senile and whatnot.
the David Jacobs episodes are pretty funny, although I initially confused David Jacobs with David Jason, aka, the voice of Danger Mouse/Count Duckula.
