Does anyone know from which year this is? Tha IBM 350 was released in 1956, so it must be some years later. 1958 perhaps? The 1301 with several heads is not invented yet, otherwise the would have shown that for sure.

A full 5 megabytes of data storage is virtually all you will ever need. I think the cost was about one and a half million dollars in 1950's dollars.

Thanks for posting this video. Never seen so much detail on the development of the RAMAC. Not sure how relevant the STM video at the end happens to be, but nevertheless interesting anyway.

Fascinating documentary of an important piece of history. The overuse of alliteration at the beginning is cheesy, but the clips of the RAMAC drive in operation are priceless. This is the chronicle of the very beginning of the technology that today enables us to have exabytes of information available worldwide for instant access on our home and mobile computing devices!

"A machine that would do everything for everyone would priced out of the market". Nonsense. That wouldn't be SOLD on the market. It would be used covertly.

Awww! They're adorable! Gotta love getting a toy for the kids knowing they'll enjoy it for a short while before eviscerating it!
