@carlmerkey9370 The second time is a second spraying of glyphosate. I do it either a day before I drill or right after. You need to do it before the plants start to emerge from the seeds. Spraying a mist onto the ground will not affect the seeds' germination.

@davidgrove1241 the turnips will not survive a heavy frost. The leaves don't wither and die, though. They stay greenish, and the deer actually pound them once they have a good frost. I have always heard this "increases the sugar content and makes them tasty". I've never eaten one to test that theory but the deer certainly do gravitate to them after the first hard frost.

@user-ft3oc7ks9z the clover turned light green with maybe a yellow hue, but never turned brown. I have tried drilling directly into established clover after mowing it and had almost no results. The clover choked out the brassicas. I would highly recommend giving it a try.

@user-ft3oc7ks9z it was about 1 to 1.25 quarts per acre. Basically, I run the same rate but drive faster.

@@bowhuntingforlife that was a bit embarrassing. 😳 It's nice to be able to just hop in and drive and not have to swap equipment around. Now I can just leave my chainsaws and such in my truck.

I'm running a Kubota B2650. With no added weight, it picks it up no problem. With a six cinder blocks added on the back holder, it is right about at capacity.

I think between my brother and I, it has already paid for itself. It is a huge time saver and the results are far more uniform than broadcasting. I'm planning a video on it.

@bowhuntingforlife I think it is a great drill for anyone wanting to plant small seeds fully no-till. For larger seeds, it will work if your soil isn't too hard. After a couple of rains or in loamy soil, you're probably good. If you have clay soil or the ground has been baked in the sun, I suspect you won't get great seed depth for larger seeds. This could be a problem if they are seeds that animals are interested in picking out. I will add that I drilled through brassicas last year to put rye in, and it did really well at that. I need to take a look here soon to see how it did pushing through live grasses.

Sorry for the delayed response. I just now saw this post. If penetration is the primary concern, why not hunt with steel rods with pointed ends? Why use a broad head at all?

@@huntingscienceexplained9825 I think they should make those kinds of arrows. I think they’d do great! Basically firing rebar that has a sharpened point.

RUclips didn't alert me to a bunch of comments on this video! Sorry for the late response. You are correct. A heavy arrow with a single bevel will do great on a bad shot on the shoulder. It will do poorly on a too far back hit. It also reduces range by giving more flight time to the arrow and more time for the deer to respond. It is all trade-offs. What matters is trying to put every last bit of energy you put into the bow's limbs into the animal before the arrow exits the other side. Heavy arrows with small broadheads, on a good hit, carry most of their energy to the dirt on the other side. You are leaving damage on the table. However, if you do make that shoulder shot at close range, the heavy arrow and flat broadhead will prove more effective.

If i recall, this was about a quart to a quart and a half per acre. I ran my normal mix rate but drove at 12 MPH instead of 8MPH.

🤣 So far for me I have run 14 Flex cameras. Only one has given me issues and it is fairly minor where it stops communicating after a month or two of being set to each detection.

The Flex uses a more aggressive (and accurate) curve for battery life than the Micros so I think a lot of folks believe it uses more battery than it does. With that said I am thinking it likely uses a bit more power.

It will only be able to use 1GB of the card. The Flex creates 2 partitions when you format the card in the camera. It creates a 1GB partition and then a second partition with the rest of the card. In a Micro it'll only use the first partition which is the 1GB partition. BTW it does this to allow the camera to be able to take a photo and send a photo at the same time. Only the Flex can do this from the Spypoint products.

I have done exactly this in a pinch. It does make your camera a bit easier to spot but works if needed.

Alkaline batteries should last a couple thousand pictures. The Micro does very well on batteries from my experience. I put Energizer Ultimate Lithiums in it and they will last a season getting a couple hundred pics a month.

Yes you are. It is basically a little 512MB SD card itself. The pictures are stored on it until the Cell Link wakes up and sends them, then it moves the photos to the micro SD.

@@ethanguidry312 to see both the pictures on the adapter waiting to be sent and the pictures that were taken and sent on the Micro SD you'll need one that can read full size SDs and micro SDs.

It's the exact same 12V hookup on the Flex as every other SpyPoint camera. If it weren't I would have made a big deal about the change. The Micros are nice and use far less battery as well. They just don't send as nice of thumbnails.

Thank you. I actually sold my disk when I bought the no till. I do still have a rototiller but would be too much. I tried to directly drill this year without spraying. I'll post the results here today or tomorrow. Just need to finish editing the video.

@@huntingscienceexplained9825 i had a client go over some bad plots with rotoriller and used it to incorporate seeds. Check it out on my yt channel its the buck forage oats one. Good results but its a bandaide. Werds will be back in spring

@@ChilcoteForestryServices the idea is to spray the clover just enough to set it back a couple weeks. That way the brassicas can pop up and get some light. The hope is the brassicas use up the nitrogen the clover puts in the soil. That way I don't get weed problems in the spring.

@@huntingscienceexplained9825 I spray clover with "Volunteer", Clethodim. Knocks out all the grasses and doesn't set the clover back. Expensive but 1/2 ounce to the gallon isn't bad. I thought it wouldn't be enough so I called the company and they promised me it would work. Wow did it bun the heck out of the weeds. Just my two cents.
