PJ Harvey gives me a n idea, 💡 if I owned a sheep with wings, maybe I would fly there.....❤
Always enjoyed Miss Powers' work over the years. Glad to hear PJ interviewed by her.
Her voice is so calming. She could do a podcast and i'd happily listen to her talk about myths and fairytales.
Love the new album!
Brilliant interview! Thank you for uploading it here.
It's a decent record but I'm getting a bit bored. Its been mellow since White Chalk.White Chalk is my favorite aside from Stories but I wish she would pull out the electric, the high heeled boots and leather skirts and mesmerize us again.
I love you Polly
Love her
Polly is so wonderful. I'm loving the new album and hoping we get some great recorded performances of the songs.
perfekt
This interview brought me to life again. Total inner peace, a state of pure bliss.
8:10 I've always thought that a large part of the art of poetry is being aware of all these meanings: the associations words carry for your target audience. When I write poetry, I'm usually hoping not to accidentally add meanings that destroy the effect I'm intending (though accidents can also be beneficial). This is obviously hard since words mean different things to everyone. Still, I wonder about "Elvis". Some of my first associations with Elvis are: pop, fame, glamour, chic, commerce, sex symbol. For me, those jar with the raw earthiness of Orlam. The fact that we are bombarded with ads also makes it harder for me to hear any reference to Elvis or any star as innocuous, i.e. not a veiled attempt to sell something. This is a gut reaction. I don't accuse Polly of trying to sell him or ride his fame, I just say that his name, for me and perhaps many others, carries a lot of baggage, so using it in a poem is risky. I would like know what Polly's thoughts here were, whether this crossed her mind and what made her do it anyway. It's certainly interesting and I love the album as a whole.
When I turned on NPR and heard Harvey's speaking voice for the fist time ever, I thought it was Kate Bush. Is this a typical Southern England accent?
there are a lot of different accents in the south of England
@@mattshaw4061 Thank you, Matt
They are very different accents but both are ethereal and softly spoken. Kate is Kent Home Counties and PJ is from the West Country famous for producing cider.
@@ECCENTRICERIC69 Interesting - Most of my exposure to English accents is from BBC comedies, but Ive heard plenty of Kate Bush interviews to notice that it is something different and that was my only other frame of reference.
This interviewer is great
Her new album is pure magic. An outstanding artist and musician.
Behave yourself
A west country jewel.
Mind blowing & fantastic interview
Wonderful interview - thankyou for adding it here. I so enjoy how articulate Polly is. She never ceases to inspire. ♡
how do you find these treasures?
Just years & years of being a fan and scavenging online! I thought it would be nice to share them on RUclips for posterity in case my hard drive explodes one day or something.
@@pjharveyfanarchives good idea, and thanks for sharing. i search for videos, and have never found any radio off RUclips. thank you for your hard work!!
@@BlackThyme Likewise!
The advice from Steve McQueen is inspiring
Loved the interview thank you.
Thank you for sharing. I really enjoyed it :)
Great stuff, the Album is Devine!
I really want to enjoy a concert performance, Polly and her band on stage with this latest work... let's see if I'm lucky and play as close as possible to the Canary Islands. But it seems to me!!😅🤞🏼
Can't wait to see this album performed live. Some of my favorite performances are on Jools, Leno, & Letterman. What a great thing to look forward to this year.
Hearing PJ speak is as good as listening her records.
Great to hear these three friends chatting about the honesty and familiarity of working together. Ms. Laverne brings a gentle respect to the interview, also -- very welcoming and not intrusive at all. The album sounds great to me at this early date. Thanks to PJ and the rest.
Thank you so much for posting this! Polly sounds so happy. Love from Australia!
This is the greatest listen ever! Go PJ, love all the way from So Cal
Love all the way from NorCal ❤
@@waterdragon2012 oh yes, NorCal, SoCal, PJ never got the the hype here on the West Coasr as our music in Ca was very territorial. My friend grew up on the East coast and says she got way more hype than what I've told him how if was here. Cheers, PJ is fabulous
This interview made my day Love these people From Orange County Ca I give you my heart and soul to the best wishes for a great tour, I can't wait til you come to America
PJ john and Flood, all in the SAME ROOM during an interview!?! Wow! Thanks a TON for uploading this
My pleasure! Grateful to Lauren Laverne for inviting the whole team for a chat
