Thanks for sharng your crochet hook bind off tutorial. It's simple and smart but sometimes it takes lots of frustration to cause us to come up with ideas to catch that yarn. I'm a continental knitter too and I try and use a hook too when iIhave one handy and actually remember that is easier than with a knitting needle!

I always enjoy your podcasts and seeing your beautiful cats 😻. What is the name of the shawl that is pictured hanging on some railings during the intro please? I'd love to knit it.

As usual, all of your projects are beautiful! The construction debacle is awful! My in laws had a situation with a house painter. They gave her a “discount” for paying up front. It’s now almost 2 years later and their house still hasn’t been painted. She threatened small claims court if she didn’t get her money back. He sent her a check but it bounced. So, now she’s turning him in for check fraud. What is it with these people? They are paid for a service, they need to do the work! 🙄

Just catching up on podcasts from December. I made a Timbo vest and enjoy it. Among other mods, I added a 1” ribbing to the armhole openings to take up some of that space.

Thank you for the ideas for the advents! I have struggled to figure out what to make with the minis. These are great ideas.

I’m late commenting, but watched this earlier. Just wanted to say, I had to smile because my name is Cindi ( Cynthia) and my Middle name is Yvonne. So many great ideas for advent minis. Thank you. Even though I live in PA, our temp was the same as yours. But we aren’t dry. I know what you mean about the squeaking, crunching snow with the boots going over it. Some days when my kids decide they are coming for the weekend, I find myself going, oh darn. I love them dearly, but sometimes I also need just quiet time with no cooking and no junk to pick up. Once they leave, I’m sad, and usually exhausted. lol. Our house temp is 65- 66 all day and night. I’d like it a little colder at night, but we keep it steady. I love putting on nice pajamas when it gets dark and love having a cup of tea, good book, tv program, or knitting. My joys are simple. I am sorry your contractor was such a loser. We never know, do we? I wish I could learn to knit continental. I can crochet with no problems, but I think the needle in my left hand messes me up. I keep trying. I love Leslie Friend. She is from Pittsburgh. She is an excellent knitter and designer, too. Love that you take care of cats. My Charlie is spoiled, and I love it! See you next time!

You had so many nice project ideas. Yes we have days we just need our space quiet no children (young adults). We have been empty nesters 10-13 years. Our son loved coming back home our Daughter has not been home since she was a freshman or sophomore in college except to visit. We want to enjoy our time with our family sometimes we just need a little reset. Have an amazing day.😊

Yay that you shared so much about the retreat. I am going as well and it will be my first retreat and I am really looking forward to it. Devin sure seems to have a great group of people in her world and I can’t wait to meet you all. I get the “pressure” of preparing for the classes, but it felt great to get these little projects done, in their bags with their respective tool needs and ready to pack. I’m like you in that I mainly knit sweaters, and increasingly vests, so a project is never just a few days. I didn’t join the sock club, but I am learning to knit socks and am growing in my enjoyment of that. Whew…that was a lot. Yay for retreat in a week. See you there!

Hi Julie! I’m not sure what the covers for the hot water bottles are called either but I did hear one podcast her say that her little daughter calls them hot water bottle, sweaters. I thought that was cute.

One more thing; I really get your description of the mess, food emphasis, and all that goes on with having older kids come back, and I think that is especially true of boys who place a big priority on eating and general activity (ie. commotion). They simply do not understand and being guys, I am not sure they ever will, but we roll with it, right? Thanks for being real!!

Thank you for the little tutorial on the crochet bind off. Good idea! I sometimes think (to myself) that knitting needles are limiting compared to the solo crochet hook. I mean that what can be done with a hook is convoluted with a needle but each has their place and great to combine these two skills for the best outcome. I enjoy your podcast.

Waxing poetic is my favorite necklace.. I have worn the same chain & P ( memory of my late son) for 21 years no issues at all. When I travel I pick up charms which I now use as stitch markers.. fun memories when I look at them ❤️

Julie, I feel your pain about craving “me” time and not wanting your son messing up your kitchen! We just had our 6yr old & 3yr old granddaughters here two weekends in a row. While we love them & love spending time with them, my house is a disaster after they leave. You & I have a lot in common- Coloradans, Christians, bald husbands, daughters who live in Phoenix, and my two favorite yarn stores are My Sister Knits & The Loopy Ewe, even though I live in Parker. I’m sad I’m not going to the KMP retreat this year. Maybe we can meet up sometime soon!

Your podcasts are always so informative and entertaining. I look forward to each one that you do. I understand about children coming home when you think you can have time by yourself. After they are here I really enjoy the time with them but have to clean up after them. The socks look great. Don’t think you have to do one a month. Take time to enjoy the ones that you do. You can always knit socks months after the knit along. There is a pattern for water bottle cozy on Ravelry which has colorwork.

I will be so sad next weekend when you're all in Dallas and I'm not! I will miss you all terribly. So good to see that you and Yvonne were able to connect!! Take care.

Hello from Toronto. Another delightful episode. Thanks for showing the Norwegian mittens- delightful. I use the crochet cast off regularly, but rarely cast off in pattern unless it is a sweater. If it is a scarf or shawl I cast off in all knit stiches as I will finish those with a crochet edge anyway. If I need a stretchy but attractive edge I use the Yarn over bindoff: Knit one stitch, YO, Knit next stitch, pull second and third stitches over and off the needle. Crochet version: insert hook in first stitch, YO (2 loops on needle), pull loop thourgh the next stitch on left needle (23loops on hook) , pull yarn though all 3 loops, repeat

I thought your statement about spending less on yarn than you would on a therapist would make a good, entertaining question for your viewers as in "I spend less on yarn than I do on _____________________." It would also make a good contest question. I spend less on yarn to relax than I do on booze.
