    😩 what if was sent to the wrong account number? Im un US I had help my mother pay for some property in mexico and my brother asked for her account info to wire her $, by mistake I gave him the account number of the person I previously wired for the property instead of my mother's account.. the $ has been deducted from his account, we're hoping since name doesn't match that the funds will be returned and not delivered to wrong person

    • @DebtTale
      @DebtTale 27 дней назад

      You need to contact the bank to see what their procedure and process is to initiate a wire recall. It sometimes can be reversed but not always. And if the money is received by the other account then the process is longer and will involve more work. Is the other person's account also in the US or in Mexico? International wires also make it a little more complicated.

    • @MrFerrill
      @MrFerrill 27 дней назад

      @DebtTale their account is in mexico.. shouldn't the transaction be flagged since name and address doesn't match account number?

    • @DebtTale
      @DebtTale 27 дней назад

      @@MrFerrill I have seen it gone both ways unfortunately. So I would still contact the bank in which you initiated the transfer and let them know. Most cases the wire transfer was rejected and the amount was refunded but it was a few days. In the two times it went through, it was a hassle unless the wrong receiver was helpful and trying to correct it with their own bank. Again talk to the bank. I have seen wire transfer forms that put the full responsibility on clients for accuracy.

    • @DebtTale
      @DebtTale Месяц назад

      Depends on the bank and their policies if they will write you a new one and not charge you for it. If you know the payee you can also go with them when they go to cash it to explain the situation. If it is a minor typo in my experience most banks let it slide especially with verification it was an unintended spelling error. Hope that helps

    Correct me if I’m wrong: Don’t put your emergency fund in Certificate of deposit (CD)

    • @DebtTale
      @DebtTale 3 месяца назад

      You are correct. CDs are a good vehicle for money you know for sure you won't need for X amount of years. So like saving for a wedding, a new car, braces for the kids, a down payment .etc. But you can't time an emergency. Having your emergency fund locked into a CD if you end up doing an early withdrawal you might have fees or lose the interest that was being accumulated. HYSA you can depending on the bank either access same day or within 3 business days. So the latter case, you could put it on a card and then pull the savings and pay it off immediately. Hope that helps!

    • @DebtTale
      @DebtTale 3 месяца назад

      I don't know your specifics and mortgage type or programs to give you an answer. PMI is when your down payment was less than 20%. There are a few programs out there that have the potential for a HUD fee. Credit score just affects potential interest rate and for some programs the minimum requirement % for a down payment. Generally a lower score would have a higher minimum requirement to mitigate risk for the lender.

    Savings accounts are a joke. They're not there to make you money but in reality to help make the bank money. On average interests on savings accounts are between 0.47% up to a max of 5% if you have a minimum savings account balance of $5,000. But when the bank loans your money out to other customers, bank loan interest rates are between 10.73% up to 32% depending on the size of the loan borrowed. As you can see, banks are making a lot more money by loaning & risking your money. So when you sign up for a savings account, don't be surprise by hearing bank managers in the back room laughing.

    • @DebtTale
      @DebtTale 5 месяцев назад

      Not disagreeing with you. That is a major component of the banks profitability. They also purchase bonds, invest in stocks, and gain more in fees. The underwriting stats that they have statistically yields that they win more than lose. But for those who would not invest, at least they have an option for some growth.

    Its crazy they make you pay both the upfront premium and the monthly especially when you dont ever default or have late payments… if you are a solid borrower you are just being screwed for no reason

    • @DebtTale
      @DebtTale 6 месяцев назад

      So the Upfront premium goes to the FHA to be pooled with the others in case a homeowner defaults. The FHA posts monthly reports on loan performance and in general roughly 5% are past due 30 days, almost 2% 60 days and around 3% 90 days. The FHA allows for people to get a home without having to put down as much for a down payment, has more leniency with approval based on credit history, and is more flexible on debt to income ratios. While I understand the sentiment that you are screwed as a good borrower, it is the pooling of the money across everyone that allows the program to exist as it is. If you paid at least 10% down then MIP goes away after 11 years. Or you can refinance out into a conventional loan after you hit 20% equity.

      Hi there! So yes wire fraud is a thing. From my understanding of the present case it was multiple wires totalling 4.5 million. Generally there is a form that is filled out and with it supporting identification documents and questions. So it is possible that someone with access to another's information and ability to obtain a signature from them can do this. Wire fraud affects quite a few elderly people annually. In this case although he is not elderly, he could have been told false information and taken advantage of due to him not understanding what he was signing. He trusted this translator and from what it seems like these transfers were to a booking company for betting. Lots of people don't keep eyes on their accounts, especially those who can afford for others to take care of their finances.

      But also could be just a blame game to hide things. I obviously do not know him. I am sure they will do multiple investigations to determine if there is indeed fraud or not. But is it in the realm of possibilities? Technically yes.

      @@DebtTale thank you so much and the more you say about how to commit wire fraud it just makes the whole situation make less sense for Ohtani’s case if he wants to stay innocent.

      Again possible. Wire fraud happens to individuals and businesses alike. Though usually it is smaller amounts and more frequent wires. Or people set up automatic payments or create checks to other people/business for false services/products. Basically to hide tracks and appear as a common occurrence. Sometimes with falsified contracts to bolster the appearance of being legitimate. But again I don't know him or the capacity to which he handled his own finances. Also totally possible for multiple people to be in cahoots cause that is a sizeable amount. I will definitely be keeping an eye out on the case because of how much media attention it is getting overall.

      @@DebtTale Thanks! After a call with a couple of members of the Think team, the channel is going to remain personal finance. They helped me see a way forward that doesn’t rely on constant budgeting and cash stuffing videos, lol!

    Extremely valuable information as I've know half a dozen Self-Employed or Bidniz Owners and many have been royally SCREWED on taxes, insurance and paying into Health Care and other systems that we, the mainstream subservient worker bees never had to worry about [as long as we've filed for our best choices upon hire]. Keep up the fantastic work, Becs!!!
