Great scenery 👍
Thanks for the feedback; this is a very special place in Winterthur.
Pretty impressive and even fitting music 👍 Really a nice and clean workshop.
@@porsche911g Thanks, Texas Country Music 🤠 and, indeed a really special place and workshop.
Dream garage 👍
What a nice collection and garage!
Indeed, and also an absolutely dedicated team.
1964 1/2. True ❤😊
@@ANGEL-sp4yz Thank you for your lovely feedback 😍
You left out a ton of details about the trim. It is more than dates, engines, and codes
You‘re right. On 9:26 I focus a little bid on the colors, but outside only. But what about these videos: 1) How to identify from the inside 2) See real differences in the interior 3) Correct seat belts 4) Correct arm rests 5) Correct air vents, radio, heater operations 6) Original sales brochure (find the option list on page 6). These are all interior specs. But I did not focus especially on trims. Can you recommend a source for that? What would interest you most? Best regards and I would very appreciate your feedback and then do a special video on the trims.
Sexiest car ever. Being born in ‘93, I always knew the legacy of the original mustang. I am subject to say the new edge stangs are my fav but a restomod from the 60s and early 70s are perfect
Absolutely, you are so right.
My first car was a 1st generation 64.5. It was on the registration. A long time ago.
@@angeloavanti2538 The good old times; but what remains and counts are our memories.
Why was it being towed? Was it parked illegally?
@@AlicePearlJam The car was parked in a rented parking space and the renter called the tow truck 😔 even there was lot of free space around. Just a fine wasn't enough for him 😕 But it was our mistake, no question about it.
A classic car and great info. Thanks for sharing it!
You're very welcome.
Perfect setting for that beauty.
A real beauty😍
Amazing parking garage.
Yes indeed amazing. This public parking garage is located in the middle of Winterthur in a cool former industrial area where steam and diesel engines for ships and railways were once manufactured.

Its not exactly a Ferrari
@@davidsaldivar4302 you are absolutely right 😅; nevertheless, we were a little shocked when we noticed.
and we are proud of our old Mustang even it is not a Ferrari 🥰
You were lucky😂 and by the way, nice car and definitely worth the fine 😜
Thanks for your kind words.
Omg how expensive was it in the end?
Since the car was not completely towed, I only had to pay 450 swiss francs, which is a bargain compared to 750 if it had been towed 😢 Of course not a bargain (!); just a disgrace and these prices are a rip-off 🤨
@@1964FordMustang So you guys got lucky then. I hope the guy treated that beauty of a car well!
I can't complain; the old lady was treated well and she enjoyed being the center of attention for once more.
good to have it back🎉
Indeed better than walking home
What an evening cruise 😎
Seems to have gone really badly 😅
You can't fight fate 😂
How much do these go for these days? And what can I expect the price to be in maybe 5 years from now ?
I would say, it depends on the condition of the car (fully restored to as original as possible or just plain and preserved like a time capsule). It also depends on the market place. In the US, prices are probably between 40 and 60K but here in Switzerland, where I live, they are more likely between 60 and 80K. Mine is currently insured for 90K. Early Fastbacks are more valuable because more rare and early K-Codes anyway. But always be careful, there are so many fakes and poorly restored cars on the market. Get advice from a professional workshop and check the papers and proof of history of the car. The more papers and documents the better. If everything is like that, so maybe in 5 years you make a 15-20% increase of value. But always and certainly, if it is a proper and genuine car with papers, there is certainly no loss of value like with other cars. The early Mustang is an icon of automotive history, But one of the most commonly counterfeited.
That’s weird . My 1964 does not have seatbelts
It was also not a standard item. Deluxe Color-Keyed Seat Belts with Retractors were a safety option. You can find the first Sales Brochure from 1964 in my videos (including all options listed).
😮
60 cumpleaños del fantástico Ford Mustang 🎊👍🍾
It looks like there are many fans and enthusiasts in Switzerland. Really a incredibly history these 60 years. Great impressions, thanks for sharing.👍😁
Pleasure 😀 and yes, there are quite a lot of nice Mustangs here in Switzerland, including some beautiful and very well preserved and still original ancient Mustangs from the 1960s.
It’s a beautiful thing when dreams come true. 🤍
Thank you and YES, I will love it and take care forever. Such a nice piece of history (the good old days, the Sixties)
I had a mustang 1965 Ford Mustang 289c.i. 225 HP, 4 Bbl carb convertible Dark Green, White conv. Top with White interior
Dark green and white, what a stunning combination 👍
I know this isn’t on topic, but I actually think the 1971-73 mustang actually looks pretty good. (Even though it is a bit hefty it still is pretty good.)
Absolutely and completely agree, also a very nice Mustang series. Very different and special design and meantime a cult vehicle and also a legend.
Nice. Amazing all the different places cars end up.
How true and this country „South Africa“ is always worth a trip 🇿🇦 It is such a nice place with all this wildlife, unique sceneries, nature and especially the lovely people.
I hope to look that good at 60.
😂
Beautiful location for a classic car show.
A very beautiful place, indeed. And especially if you don't have a sea, like we do in Switzerland, these beautiful lakes are a real joy and pure quality of life.
Sweet! Very clean and looking smooth.
Glanced at your video library and had to sub.
Thanks for your lovely comment. It is really a great car and always a pleasure to drive such an old piece of US history while remembering these days in the Sixties.
Great you told me absolutely nothing other than the the obvious. Commentary to show your cars way would be nice.
@@richardhall5699 I invite you to check my other, newer and more specific videos. Maybe you learn then more than the „obvious“ (this video series was at the very beginning, but simple and easy to understand what is 1964 1/2 and what is wrong)
Unbelievable, really not restored, just well maintained all these years?
But certenly, just look at the sheet metal numbers. All still original. No rust, never welded, just regularly maintained.
Ahh, I made some comments in one of your other videos about the carpet not covering the sill plate before seeing this, you mentioned it here, bravo. The gas pedal pad I never knew as well as the striker plates on the door for the courtesy light switch, those two are new to me. Everyone knows of unit 00001, the convertible that the pilot got and then later returned to FORD, but when you have the chance, look up unit 00002. Its a U code inline 6 with manual transmission, coupe in Caspian blue that still exists. It was sold and spent most of its life in northern Canada before being found and restored. Its is a pre-production car, featuring a Fairlane shifter and Ranchero rear axle, its a nice one.
Yes, I heard about the story too and then I saw the video on RUclips. Thank you for all your charming and valuable comments. I am very pleased. It's crazy what you know about the car and this first year of construction. I am looking forward to more details from your side and your opinion.
In addition to the color keyed lock knobs ("65" and later were smaller and chrome no matter the interior color), the window felt molding was also different. The molding for "64 1/2" had black beading as part of the molding where "65" and later had the bright metal beading as part of the molding. Also, and this was only for the coupe body style, the carpet stopped short of the door sill and did not go over the sill and under the bright metal sill plate. The carpet did not cover that part of the floor that was vertical under the door, but was covered with a vinyl strip matching the interior color as well as the carpet having only a heel pad as opposed to the heel and toe pad of the later carpets. My "65" coupe had the carpet that went up and under the sill plate, but upon restoration when we removed the carpet, surprise, vinyl red colored strips were glued to the floor under the door hidden by the carpet, this car had an Early August build date out of the Dearborn plant. As far as the trunk, in addition to the carriage bolt and slot for the spare hold down, "64 1/2" often had a "burtex" mat instead of the vinyl mat of "65" and later. Early on, there were vinyl seat with cloth inserts option available, uncommon to find today. The radio being different I never knew, but the fuse block on "64 1/2" was different than on "65" if I remember correctly. Sorry, but I have been a fan of these cars since the age of 10, and I am 55 now, information from all the books and cars you see tend to build up in the brain. Big thanks for the video series.
What a knowledge you have, unbelievable. Thank you for all the specifications and additions. I did not know the issue about the window frame molding. I am sure your detailed and very precise comments will be read and certainly very much appreciated. I definitely do.
Were all the 1964½ features phased out at once, or over a period of a few months?
Unfortunately not. Many old and original parts were installed until the end of 1964. To be sure and in case of no papers or history available, check always for 3-4 (ore more) specific features 😉
Its important to note that FORD titled all Mustangs up to the 1966 model year as 1965, therefore all have a 5 as the first number of the VIN. The 1964 1/2 label was shown on some early FORD advertising due to the car being released in April of 1964 as opposed to later in the summer or fall as usual. There are actually more differences between "64 1/2" and "65" than there are between "65" and "66", but due to the grill style, side ornamentation, wheel covers and the like, there appears to be more differences between "65" and "66". Due to different plants using up different components as production went, and FORD running all 3 plants for 3 shifts to try to fill demand, there are often mixes of some parts of "64 1/2" and "65" when the lines were switching over. The only real concrete difference between the two was the electrical system which changed from a generator "GEN" to an alternator "ALT" charging system. This also was the reason for the battery vents as well as the bigger dual horns used for "64 1/2". That is taking for granted that any one car in question had not had its charging system changed at some point in time. I used to own a "65" coupe that had an assembly date close to the cross over. It was a alternator charging system car, but had the "64 1/2" wipers and pivots, air fan switch had the off position in the middle, had the clip on door handles and window cranks, and the spare tire hold down used the earlier carriage style bolt and slot as opposed to the hook and loop style of later. It also had the early 13 inch wheels, no backup lights, but did have the cable attaching the gas cap to the body. This was a great video, and I am now off to watch your others to see what else you find between "64 1/2" and "65", cheers.
You are a great connoisseur and obviously a very proven specialist. Your comments are very valuable and I am sure you will find some of them in one of my videos. I am very pleased that I have visitors and experts like you on the channel. Thank you very much.
ONLY 65.5 ARE THE DOOR LOCKS COLOR CODED TO THE INTERIOR, AND THERE IS A SLIGHT DIFFERENCE IN THE SIDE MUSTANG LOGO LENGTH BEHIND THE FRONT FENDER.
Absolutely correct and thank you for your feedback. I have made 3 special videos on this very topic. How to identify and differentiate such features that makes a real 1964.5.
I had a 1964 1/2 in my youth and didn't realize what I had. A coupe with 260 V8. I acquired another coupe with 260 V8 built May 27, 1964 and code J Rangoon Red. So this color was also available on early mustangs.
Sometimes many years pass before you realize what you once had. But as I understand, now you have again a 260 (very rare) with the correct build date. Congratulations, enjoy and thank you for your comment.
The beveled headlight extensions are not an absolute guarantee that it is a 64 1/2. they seem to have been used sporadically during the production run. Possibly due to different suppliers of the parts. Mustang serial # 1 at the Henry Ford Museum actually has the later non beveled headlight extensions on it.
Thanks, good to know and absolutely possible. Therefore not a single characteristic alone verifies a real 1964 1/2; several distinguishing features must be present, including the correct VIN number. Including some papers documenting the origin of the car would of course be the best of the best. And even without all this stuff you can have wonderful fun with any classic Mustang. Just don’t pay a premium for something which is not true and verified.
Excellent series if videos, thank you. I took possession (from a family member) of what was THOUGHT to be a 1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible a number of years ago. It isn't, rather a 1965. Nothing matches up including the Dearborn production numbers, the biggest clue of course. Again, thank you for the very informative videos, well done.
I hope I didn't unsettle you too much with these videos. The main thing is that you have fun with your classic car, regardless of whether everything is up to date and time correct. Most important driving safely and without accident. Thank you very much for your compliment.
People still won't believe that Ford manufactured Mustang in mid-1964. They did😂
That's what they did indeed. Thanks for your comment.
Some great information. I sometimes see some and I'm not quite sure. Thanks for sharing.
Kool & The Mustang
Get down on it, really a fitting song 🎶
Love the color and all ❤❤
Thank you - it is prairie bronze; a color rather popular in the Sixties but not so much today; but I like it (very natural, warm and lovely)
In nicaragua we have a 1964 1/2 and is black and it looks , sounds and runs incredible
Guess it must be amazing, driving your classic Mustang in this beautiful country.
So I kinda have a 64 1/2 ford mustang it's my dad's he is the second owner in which he inherited it it belong to his cousin who had ordered it new and had it special ordered to have the 302 instead of the 289 in baby blue has 2400 on it unfortunately my dad's cousin had only seen it before he was shipped off to Vietnam where he lost his life now it sits in a climate controlled barn in all original condition except tires an oil
What a great and impressive story. Thank you for sharing and your kind contribution.
If Ford never identified these cars as 64-1/2 why does the general public continue to perpetuate this narrative?
Very valid question. The Mustang is undoubtedly an iconic car. The start of this legend was at the 1964 New York World Fair in April. Usually and until today, car manufacturers change their model year after the summer holiday in September already for the upcoming year. April therefore was to late to become a 1964 model and so Ford decided to let these cars became 1965 models. Because of this speciality and the legendary status the car became in the following years (which nobody expected), the first batch of the Mustang production probably got just this attention. Suddenly collectors and enthusiasts would like to know how the car was originally presented to the first customers. What exactly made the enormous demand and what attracted so many customers to became one of the biggest car launch successes until today. That are maybe some reasons why the first batch of these cars and its original specs got so much attention to be perpetuated with this narrative.
It looks like a 64 Mustang 100%
Yes it is from 1964 but according to the VIN, the car was build in the second half of that year. VIN numbers for „1964 1/2“ cars must be between 100001 -220317 (Dearborn) or not higher than 104363 for San Jose build cars. This white Mustang has VIN 234898 and therefore it is just outside that range. Key differentiators are also the lock knobs (chrome), the wiper pivot (not flat) or the power steering (not Eaton). That indicates that it is not a Mustang „1964 1/2“. But that doesn't mean this car, as seen at Laude classic cars in Cape Town, is any less attractive or desirable.
Well explained, thanks
On Ford's up to sometime in the seventies the date the year of the car is on the tail light it's written on the taillight that's all you need to know
Thanks for the wonderful clue and additional feature for the identification.
Just a few other differences that I can think of offhand. The passenger seat is usually bolted straight to the floor rather than having a sliding adjustment. The door handles are held on with spring clips rather than having screws. The T handle on the shifter is a different shape on the 64 1/2. (The handle tapers to a smaller diameter at the ends of the T)
Very true and thanks for your feedback. Except for the very special „spring“ for the door handle I mentioned these differences already in specific earlier videos. You are welcome to watch these films and leave your more detailed explanations.
As an owner of a 65 mustang there seems to be more 641/2 then all mustangs put together 😂
That's obviously true. Seems everyone wants to be among the first, even though everything are 1965 models.
