where did you get that leather cover for the Fujifilm x100vi?
This one is from Smallrig which I bought from Amazon. I looked at the official Fuji case but I think it only comes in black.
Weymouth is my home. I shoot similar locations with my Holga.
That sounds awesome, I’ve never owned a Holga but they look like a lot of fun. Weymouth must be a great place to live!
Hope you spent some time at east ball while you were there!
Hmm I’m not sure I know of east ball, is that in Dorset?
What an amazing camera! Never seen one before but seen the brand mentioned in camera shop emails that I get! Your walk along to the stone pier from the Nothe Fort steps onwards, traced my very steps from a couple of months ago! And yes, I saw the turnstones, took some images, (wildlife is my thing) and they are VERY hard to see against the shingle. Great little birds. I enjoyed watching this especially as it is from the town where I was born, 69 yrs ago! And thank you for making sure the ladybird was safely on a leaf! Will finish watching the rest of it now!
Thanks! I’m so happy you enjoyed the video. The reason I was so excited to see the turnstones is because wildlife is my main subject too! My channel is mix of all sorts but there are quite a few wildlife videos too. Weymouth is a great place, it must have been a wonderful place to grow up in!
@@carl_hall I've watched one or two of your wildlife ones - but I see there are a few more yet, for when I get a quiet moment! 🙂
I'm a new fan of you! love you camera
Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate and hope you liked the video
Awesome shots Carl! Fab stroll around too! Good to see you back on film too 🤓 hope you enjoyed it!
Thanks Scott! Yeah it was great fun to get out with film again, photography so much fun when you strip it back to its basics. Going to have to get out and do it more I think!
Beautiful wildlife footage and photos😍 Thanks for sharing! I will gladly leave a subscription 😉👍
Thank you Thomas, I’m glad you enjoyed the video and I appreciate the support 😊
Nice video and some great shots 📸
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video
Some great wildlife shots Carl
Thank you Stephen 🙂

Thank you!

Thanks!
Was interested to find you video of street work in Bath, I often visit there and enjoy street photography around the southwest. Loved the lady between the pillars (around 7.40). My main genre was wildlife before it all became too much to carry - I now use a Ricoh GRiii & iiix.
Thanks for the comment! Yes it was a stroke of luck that she walked down the sunny path between the pillars. Oh that’s cool, I have a GRIII as well, it’s a great camera isn’t it!
Try the river Lyn for dippers. I’ve had some cracking shots there
Thanks Stephen, that’s not a location I’ve heard of so I will have a good look! 🙂
@@carl_hall it’s near Lynmouth. Beautiful location
Great video
Thank you Stephen!
Wonderful video, Carl! I found your insights whilst shooting especially inspiring.
Thank you, really appreciate the comment and I’m glad you liked the video!
great video - did you visit Lancashire a few months back?
@@LeeMansfield thanks Lee! I don’t think I’ve ever been to Lancashire, aside from driving up the M6. Looks like a nice area to visit though!
I loved this video Carl. It was good to see the difficulties of finding the otters and great to see it was worth it for you both. I'm really glad I found your channel today!
Thank you Stephen, I really appreciate the comment and I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I do try and show the real side of wildlife photography rather than just the success, as more often than not you don’t find what you’re looking for!
Love the secret location with a sign post in the opening shots
Thanks for watching David, thankfully there are lots of bridleways in Dorset so the signpost doesn't give anything away.
@@carl_hall just being mischievous great video
Thank you David 😊
That’s awesome!! Great job on the video too. Found the “subscribe”
Cheers Jack! More people have found it so far than I was expecting, thought I did a good job of hiding it this time 😂
I have never seen any owl's in the wild, and I am hoping one day I will ! Great video by the way,...
Thank you! I’ve not seen too many, thankfully this one is quite reliable!
What time was it when the Barn owl showed up?
I think it was around 7pm, about an hour or so before sunset.
Fabulous! Great work Carl 👍
Thank you Nick! 😊😊
Awesome video guys, what a trip! Good way of doing it in the 2hr stints. Superb footage and photos of the otters 😍👍
Thank you Scott! Glad you liked it 😊😊
Your photos are amazing, I really love them! Makes me wanna pick up my camera and go take some pictures in the street
Thank you for the kind comment! You should definitely go out and take some photos!
I made the same trip (well I went north to south) on the initial weekend after "winning" the opportunity to buy one, I placed mine in my backpack and got out of London and headed back up north Didn't even open it for a week as i had not decided whether to keep it or not. I'm so happy I did, as it has become my favourite camera, it is just a joy to use
That’s awesome, I guess there were a lot of “winners” there in the day you picked yours up? It was really weird being a backup winner, I just sort of went in and picked it up like picking up a click and collect at any other shop haha. You’re right, it is such a nice camera to use. First thing I did after getting home was order a screen protector, leather case and lens hood for it though as I’m terrified of scratching it!
@@carl_hall I got the leather case, got the protection kit on back order, the day I went there were 2 others there (I guess way more on the Saturday) I just said why I was here, waited a few minutes then was taken to an area downstairs away from main shop, where they checked id etc went to the photography gallery, then waited for my train back up north
Amazing footage and photos. I've booked to stay in a bell tent on Brownsea in a couple of weeks and am even more excited after watching your video. Do you have any tips or recommendations?
Thanks very much! It’s a wonderful place to visit and even more special when camping. The biggest tip I would say is to make the most of the time when the day visitors aren’t there. There are a few hours after the sun rises when the boats haven’t arrived yet and you will see a lot more wildlife. As soon as the day visitors arrive and the island gets busier, the wildlife will hide and be a lot harder to spot. I hope you enjoy your trip!
@@carl_hall great tip thank you!
Heat haze means, it's time to either go home or change over to underwater photography for the day lol
Haha yes I bet you don’t get much heat haze underwater 😃
Nice and beautiful video. Thanks for sharing so wonderful footages. Big like 11
Thanks a lot for watching and commenting!
Nice one Carl👌. I love Aylesbeare. I know exactly what you mean about the heat haze, however it was the mist and drizzle that got me on my last visit. Grest images👍
Thanks a lot Trevor! I’ve not been there in mist but I bet you can get some great atmospheric shots.
Wow It's great😮 happy heavenly
Thank you!
Great walk along Carl, unlucky on the Yellow Hammers 👍
Thank you Scott! I’ll get the yellowhammers one day, be a good reason to make another video haha.
First of all loved the video!!, also I wanted to know if the fuji 150-600 fits in your lowerpro backpack without problem.
Thanks a lot, I'm glad you enjoyed watching. Yes, the Fuji 150-600 fits in the camera bag I used in the video (the Flipside Trek 450) with no problems, but because it's a half & half-style bag I don't think it can be stored attached to the lens. My other Lowepro bag is the Flipside 200 which is actually smaller, but because the whole bag is one section, it fits in the bag whilst attached to the camera.
@@carl_hall thanks for sharing man, it's pretty hard to find backpacks that fit this lens
Cracking Vlog guys, hope you don’t mind me asking how your finding the Fuji 150-600, it’s just I’m on the edge of taking the leap, but worried that I will be disappointed having to let my 100-400 go to get it. This is my only hang up at the moment
Thank you Alun! It’s a great lens, nice and sharp, good IS, and quite compact for a 600. My only issue is that it’s an f8 lens, but I guess Fuji are limited with what they can do without making it much heavier and more expensive. I would recommend the lens if you are not going to be using it for very low light shots, such as wildlife late in the evening.
Great Video! Do you just keep eating Breakfast all day long?
Thanks Peter! Yes pretty much, if I have time between first breakfast and lunch I like to try and fit in second breakfast and elevenses.
wow, i love the images. especially the first two of the male bearded tit. such great colours. I'm using the xt4 for wildlife photography as well, i've just bought the tamron 150-500. there are not that many fuji wildlife photographers on youtube, so i'm looking forward to more of your videos. i was sceptic about the fuji 150-600 because of its maximum aperture, but the images youve taken a great! how do you feel about its perfomance when the conditions are not that favourable? cheers from germany!
Hi Kristian, sorry for the late reply, it's been a crazy couple of weeks! Thanks a lot for the kind words. The Fuji 150-600 is a great lens; it's nice and sharp, fairly light weight, and focuses quietly and quickly. As you say, the main (and big!) problem with it is that it's an f8. I have used it in poor light and it works well enough, but I end up shooting at max ISO more than I would like! I will admit that I ended up buying a Canon 500mm f/4 to use and I am not entirely sure if I will keep the Fuji 150-600. It's a great lens, but I'd like to photograph foxes, badgers, and owls this year, and they will most likely be in low light so having the extra two stops between f/8 and f/4 is huge. Thanks again!
Hi Carl I've just subscribed to your channel. I've just bought this lens and can't wait to get out using it. I've just sold my Nikon D500 and 200-500mm lens as I wanted to go 100% Fuji (owning the XT2 and XT3) How do you find the AF when tracking birds in flight? Also do you use any NR software on your images because they look so clean but you used high ISO. I will check out your other videos now ☺
Thanks for the support, Paul! The Fuji lens is a great lens, nice and sharp, and lightweight. I have struggled a bit with birds in flight on the Fuji cameras as the autofocus grid isn't fine enough to make sure that you always have the bird in focus. For still birds though it's great! For noise reduction I use Topaz Denoise AI. I think it was around £60 but it's well worth the price as it does a fantastic job and works as a plugin directly from Lightroom or Photoshop.
@@carl_hall I'm looking at getting rid of my XT2 and getting either the XT5, XH2 or XH2s but I've read about AF issues on all those when tracking 🤔 Great Bearded Tit photo's by the way. I've never had views like that never mind photo's
Oh really? I considered getting the X-H2 for the animal eye tracking! I’ve been using my X-T4 with an adapted Canon 500mm recently but I was still struggling with the af on birds in flight. I ended up buying a Canon R7 at the weekend and it’s night and day difference in terms of autofocus on animals. I plan to use the Canon for still shots and then hopefully the X-T4 for filming as I really love the Fuji for videos. Thank you! We were very lucky. I’ve seen them a few times from a distance but never as close as this. It’s worth visiting Radipole Lake for them if you’re local, although I’ve been told the paths are so flooded at the moment that you can’t even get around in wellies!
@@carl_hall I'm actually in Dorset in May for nearly a week so will definitely visit
A bird definitely on my bucket list and this looks to be the place to go for it 👍
Yes I reckon it’s a great place for dippers as the rocky rivers are perfect for them to jump around in 😃
Highly recommend, If your in the Lynmouth Area walk up to a place called Watersmeet beside the river for a couple miles very much the same as where your were here. Or even a visit to Lydford Gorge in mid Devon.
Thanks Brian, I’ve been to both of those places but not for a couple of years and I never thought to look for dippers there! I’ll definitely have to head back and check them out again, thanks for the tip
Some lovely images there carl. The Bearded Tit was one of my bogey birds for years. Finally manged to get them about 3 years ago and have seen them on a few occasions since, they never disappoint.
Thank you Stewart! Yes they are wonderful birds to watch, especially when you’re lucky enough to get nice and close to them
Excellent editing of the video (I laughed out when I saw "Carl says subscribe"). So my question is where did you find the camo cover for the lens? Thx
I think you're the first person to notice that, Greg! I'm glad someone has though because it took me ages to edit that part haha. I wasn't able to find a camo cover for the lens (I assume because it was only released recently) so I bought some of that stretchy camo tape that sticks to itself, and wrapped the lens in it. Doesn't look quite as good as a proper cover and isn't as hard-wearing, but hopefully it'll last me until someone brings out a decent neoprene cover.
@@carl_hall Ahh yes the camo tape, I use it on my thumbs for bass fishing. That's a nice solution. Cheers.
Great vid Carl, the doggo and balloons my fave pic 🤓👍
Thanks Scott, I’d never considered how they transport the balloons but it’s so obvious when you think about it 😂
Nice job, Carl :-)
Thanks a lot Petr!
Superb Carl, love the video, awesome shots too! 😎🤘 i've never seen one before, I used to go out looking with the same pocket book too! Also had a bird version of it. 🤓👍
