The title cracked me up. That is me too. Motorcycle Poor.
A British guy designed the Big twin Evo. I learned about that from Gixxer Foo.
It's going to look good i like the rear fender man 🤘
That's just a fiberglass fender that came with the bike.. I have a 55-57 repop on order
@@Sands-32 sweet 😎
Those are welding Vice-Grips, for holding sheet metal while you're welding it.
I like that 2 into 1 cripped fishtail and a Thunderheader or fishtails that don’t go past the rear fender
I like teng ⅜ ratchet. Looks a little cheap being plastic but it's done great for 25 years. Doesn't chip or dent. Anyone who thinks they will never slip or clank a tool doesn't do enough spannering. Heat shields are already obsolete for my 1999 twin cam dyna.
Phone holder and little tripod(s) ;-)
Since you're going with the look of a hardtail, I would go with a 2-into1 exhaust, with the crimped fin tip.
That's my plan b if dual exhaust is too much of a pain to do
Those vicegrips were for compressing spring on pneumatic control valves when servicing Cut off disc's dont take side loads well and dont work well for grinding, having them explode aint fun, also for contouring sanding discs work really well, i dont like any of those 4" grinders, get a 5" with a handle, it keeps your hands away from disaster if your guards are off, you might have a lot of steel impregnated in your belt
I understand how difficult that decision is to chop on such a sweet bike. I'd be ok with a model more generic like a plain Dyna or older dresser.
Nothing like a Heritage and Fatboy to make look good best bikes out there and Heritage Springer
@@ronniedeciantis1978 I'd love a springer for this bike, but then I'd have to start all over again and make it look like a 48 panhead
I like your channel. You at least show every step of the way. Keep up the good work! I'm also subbed to Angel's channel too.
@JeffTucker-j1p That's awesome I thought I was done with projects, so I left all the good tools with angel 😅 Now I wish I lived closer to her
Cool video bud. I seen the post your sis Red Rider made about the work you would be doing and wanted to check it out.
@@Anthony071177 Awesome Thanks!
How long was the screw in your tire?
I first noticed at @8:20
@officialwildcardadventures About 1/2.. I noticed a crack in the tire as well, so will need new ones at some point.. Would love whitewalls
I wish I knew how to do stuff like that. Oil change, brakepads, and sparkplugs is about as technical as I get. 😄
@@positivelynegative9149 My dad taught me most metal fab stuff I know; some things I learned myself. RUclips is definitely a good resource to learn
Red sent me
Hahahahah 🤣 What movie is that intro scene from?
Wayne's World
I'm amazed so few people know the softtail story. A guy in the Saint Louis area came up with the idea. I don't think he made much if any money from H-D. The only new Harley I owned was a Fatboy.
My main ride is a 1982 low rider shovel with drag pipes. Been looking for a set of those softail mufflers so I can fab up an exhaust with mufflers. Trying to keep the piece with my neighbors. She’s a little loud early in the morning when she fires off and I’m getting to old to push her down the road before firing her off. You take care bud and stay safe I normally say ride safe but I know you’re not doing any riding where you live this time of year lol.
it looks pretty damn good, clean job
Thanks!
Coming along very nice the time you took with your measurements, cutting and grinding is really paying off. My dad always told me if it’s worth doing it’s worth doing right. It’s a shame yourself, Angel and your dad aren’t close enough to all work out of the same shop. You all could bounce ideas off each other. Take care and stay safe bud.
Very cool I had heard some of that story before but not all the details. Your dad is a fountain of information on the older Harley stuff. I would love to set down and just listen to some of his stories. You take care and stay safe.
looks nice. doesn't look like a hack job.
clean it all up and throw a little black paint on there. it'll be a lot easier to see anything you might not be happy with.
@o.u.t.olduglytroll3712 Yeah for sure Gotta get Angel to send that seat when I get paid
@@Sands-32 ya, gotta wait for the postal strike to be over too.
Turned out really nice can’t wait to see it done.
@o.u.t.olduglytroll3712 Nah I'll just get her to ship with ups or FedEx.. its not much if any more cost
Really nice job!
Thanks!
For your first time doing this, it's turning out good. your patience with the grinding paid off!
I just finished the grinding today. I'll be uploading that video soon
I thought it would be cool if you put a bobber style spring base seat on it..
I have a nice k-model racing seat made by Corbin that I had gave my dad with my old shovelhead; they didn't use it, so Angel is going to send it to me
😎🤘 can't wait to see the outcome gonna be awesome
that'll hold up just fine
don't throw those away. i might be able to use them
The fender struts?
@@Sands-32 yes
@o.u.t.olduglytroll3712 Yeah I'll definitely save them for you The ends of them would make great oldschool forged mounts for a heavy duty application like engine mounts
those vice grips are for welding
Yeah probably for clamping pipe and stuff
@@Sands-32 they'd work good for clamping exhaust pipe
@o.u.t.olduglytroll3712 That's what I'm thinking I'm going to be making my own exhaust too
that went by way to quick. when's the other half coming out?
I'll let you know
Interesting story. I hadn't heard that before.
are you sure it was olive green?
Yeah I looked it up.. the plane was pretty much the same gray as the first fat boy motorcycle
Also, the original fatboy had a very airforce inspired logo on the tanks
@@Sands-32 oh ya, i remember that.
why don't you ask angel where that screw for your seat went ...
ya, notching that angle would be the way i'd go. you could notch it out pretty deep before you compromise your structural integrity too much.
zip ties can work for that too.
That's what dad uses, I think
Manual sets the rear tire to the side already 😅
Good tip!
Angel steered me this way from her channel. I liked and subscribed. Anxious to follow your journey with your Heritage!
That's awesome Good to have you here

I will have another Heritage. I loved my 2011.
You are doing really well one handed. I would have dropped something or broken it.
Just take the back tire off. You've got a coupla' Christmas presents coming your way. Having the tire off will help with what's coming your way. Can't say more, it'll ruin the surprise. Merry Christmas Sandy.
@@mattmattes3913 😮 All I can say is, in the words of Wayne and garth, 🙌 I'm not worthy 🙌
@@Sands-32 Having the same bike, we need to talk. I've got a hundred tales that'll make life easier down the road. I'll try to write it all down and put it in your Christmas box. Can't send the box until the postal strike is over. Take care partner.
@mattmattes3913 Oh man, that's awesome Yeah there are definitely a few things that are unique to pre '89 softails. It will be a learning curve for sure
It will clean up great. '87 is the way to go. It's the second year of the Heritage with better paint choices. Looking forward to seeing it restored.
@gorn9161 Yes I can't wait
2:15 - I don't know why I didn't think about that, before. Maybe you could make fender struts that go on each side of the underside of the part if the fender that the seat goes on. Or you could move the existing fender struts to where they would go on the inside of the fender, then get some 40s or 50s saddlebags with the half-oval saddlebag brackets, so it looks like that's the reason for the bolts going through. I think they had acorn nuts on the outside. That was, you get the look if a classic bike, but you don't lose function.
Yeah I've thought about many options, but I think I'm going to follow through with my plans to mount the fender to the swingarm. Gotta get a fender and start measuring, etc
@@Sands-32, Wouldn't that be bouncy for your kids? That's like the Rocker C, but with the seat directly on the fender. I like the direction that you're taking your bike in. That's very cool. I would love to see a modern classic-styled bike
@RayfordRaySiegel Not really planning on riding the kids around; I'd rather build it to look cool. If I change my mind, and my kids show interest, I guess I'll have an excuse to buy another bike 😁
Wouldn’t be easier to take the fender struts off then put the fender in place then re install the struts?
The fender actually rubs the struts on the frame. And it's just the fiberglass fender that does. The stock one fits fine
you need a tripod
I need a bunch of stuff 😅
that yellow is 100% line paint
One time a lost a GoPro door that fell onto my bike, and I never saw it again 😱 still don’t know what the heck happened. I searched an entire 14 foot radius for it… nothing.
I think there's a secret dimension where all the 10mm sockets and parts we drop end up
