SpaceX Falcon 9 Launch Caught on Camera from 500 Miles Away!
On the morning of October 29th, 2023 a SpaceX Falcon 9 left the launch pad at Vandenberg AFB at 2am PST. My cameras were recording the flight from approximately 500 miles away in Prescott Valley, Arizona. The black and white footage was captured by a Lorex Home Security Camera mounted on our house. The color footage was captured by a Sony A7S3 at 16mm, f/2.8 lens (ISO 32000 and 1/25s shutter speed). The feed from SpaceX is also included to provide critical event timing and general "play by play".

Here's a short video I put together from tonight's mission into the active volcanic eruption zone in Leilani Estates on the Big Island of Hawaii. The chronicles of a recent trip to Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories of Canada to photograph and record the northern lights. Yellowknife is a terrific little town a few hundred miles south of the arctic circle and is perfectly positioned under the auroral oval to get northern lights views nearly each evening.
