The Fang
Просмотров 30Год назад
Finally got on The Fang (WI5-6). It was pretty picked out in the actualy column and final roof so it was probably WI4 conditions. Amazing setting. Bucket list climb for sure. Glad to have led it!

The Rigid Designator (WI5-) in Vail, Colorado. Climbed on 26-Feb-2023, seemingly in WI4 conditions. Pretty picked out but super fun regardless. Could see it being very intimidating on virgin ice. Used ~10 screws for the 115' pitch, belayed my partner up from the top and then we rappelled down with a tagline/70m single rope, though it seemed like the 70m rope would have been okay by itself. Supe...

It's a guidebook 5.10c, personally I feel it to be solid 5.11. Either way it was a tough project, and it was super fun and proud to have finally redpointed it! Trimmed around 6min in, skipping about 30 seconds of shaking before the final moves to the anchor.

I climbed that years ago, felt super off balanced, my face got pasty white. Stomach was sweating.
Awesome job, now do speed trap!!
Nice. Thanks for posting.
Good job on the Dez.
5.6+
Wow that little wall is pretty!
How long is the crack pitch looks sick
Nice climb on critter!
This is definitely Critter Crack. At the very start of the video the climber is adjacent to the flake that climbs into the Le Gourmet, whereas Crispy is another dozen feet to the right. Furthermore, the climb in this video is a hand crack whereas Crispy is a finger crack.
@@dzb33you are correct. I am an idiot lol 100% critter crack.
Thanks for posting nice memory for me !
How's the approach? Did you have to go through private land?
Foot access is 100% dependent on private landowner permission. The only way that does not involve trespassing is boating the Potomac or down hiking from north fork mountain.
10:38 Now you’re scared? Lol. Great video, awesome climb!
did u need two ropes for the rappel?
I believe it can be done with one at the numerous rap stations but we brought a 70m single rope and a 65 m static 7mm tag line and did two raps
@@alecmanougian9510 thank you!
@@ZacharyRanck it was about a year ago. I forget exactly how long the other anchor stations are, I recommend the 2 ropes or 1 and a tagline
Nice! That's my favorite route at Seneca.
Were all four pitches 5.9? Hoping to make it out there this summer and was curious of the pitch beakdown. Nice video.
It gets a little easier the higher you go. Bottom is the hardest (5.9), then the last pitch is ("Seneca") 5.7. All of it is wide. All of it is awesome.
That’s the only trad climb I’ve ever been on, I followed and cleaned. It was one of the most fun climbs I’ve ever done
4:00 - That slot is begging for a pink tricam!
Wait, I thought you were supposed to lay-back the entire thing!? Why didn't you place a "head-piece" 5' off the ground!? I'm calling shenanigans!
Too funny. That fail video was nuts! Appreciate these guys showing the right way.
Nice channel! I think you deserve way more views. Oh by the way, have a look at Promosm!! I’ve been using it to promote my main channel and it helped me get my videos higher in the search results!!
v dope
Did you use anything bigger than a #5?
we brought 1#5 and 1#6 and was glad we had them.
Very cool!
Easy climb. Be real bro
Nice job, Alec!
I was chilling on that little beach there last week with my girlfriend. Had the pond all to ourselves and we saw people climbing there. It was inspiring.
can you free solo seneca
Kinda liberal on the slack.
Nice
"If that's 10a I'm the King of England" hahaha! I thought the same thing the first time I climbed it!
Glad to see nobody has stolen the quicklinks I put on there last year.
Don't give me any ideas
there is not a lot place can put pros on 2nd pitch, right?
I've been looking for videos of this problem forever! I'm planning a trip out to Coopers this weekend on the 24th and I'm super stoked to get on this line!
Chantz Petrie glad it's useful! May see you out there.
Do you live in WV?
Did you setup a natural anchor? I'm thinking about climbing some routes in this area and was curious about how the protection was.
Nice video! Nice beta (map at 2:06) How long(time) did you climb this route? I see you start from early morning? I am going to do it next week.
We climbed it in ~3 hrs including eating lunch on the large ledge prior to the last pitch. Didn't rush it by any means. We started around 6:00am to get the sunrise over the mountains. Be prepared for 50'+ runouts with no gear but it is low angle and not hard.
We did it, that was great route!
