Starting things with Guitar, but there's also Sandsculpting... and all those cool old, abandoned places I like to explore. Oh well, might as well try and do it all!
The Leidos Sandcastle Logo
SandcastlingGuy (aka Ron) takes on the Leidos logo, showing you some tips and tricks for how to build. Along the way we take a look back on some logos of the past. If you've got good sand, and some patience - and a picture of the logo you're trying to replicate - then maybe you'll leave your mark along the beach someday.

Phil Keaggy 1996 Concert - Merritt Island, Fl

Filmed on a rainy 1996* "monsoon" of a night in Merritt Island, Florida, Phil entertains in ways that only he could pull off. My video recording starts out shaky, but I left it in because of all the hilarious things that happen prior to any songs. ("Does anyone have any duct tape?") Don't rush ahead or you'll miss them. My video handling gets a bit better too. Shot from the front row of Calvary...

Guitar Sessions EP4: Phil Keaggy “Full Circle”
Просмотров 6811 месяцев назад
My best attempt at the intro lick to “Full Circle” from Phil’s 1981 album, “Town to Town”. I can still remember my guitar teacher (from Banjoman’s in Satellite Beach, FL) showing me this lick. Certainly has it’s challenges at times and some crazy bends and then throwing a pinky finger in there. Still, one of my favorites. Thanks for all the great tunes, Phil! Guitar Sessions EP3: Tom Scholz - "Don't Look Back" What's not to love? That iconic chorusing riff... followed right after by that iconic opening lick. Its just a fantastic song! To achieve the "Rockman" sound, I'm using my own recipe constructed inside of Overloud's THU (an amp simulator). I stumbled on this DLB type of tone while recording one of my previouss RUclips videos: Boston/Scholz Gui...

Guitar Sessions - Episode 2 Jerry McPherson Solo - “When The Walls Come Down” It seems like I’ve been seeing Jerry McPherson’s name on albums for at least 50 years! You’ve likely heard his session work with Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Johnny Van Zandt, The Neville Brothers, Wynnona, Rhett Walker… and didn’t even know it. He even toured as Amy Grant’s guitarist for 19 years! Today, I fe...

Excellent cover of this great band, I have time listening to them and you have done a great job. I would like to buy a Zion Radicaster guitar or a powerglide but I never find where to do it, could you help me or tell me where to buy a zion guitar please?
There's always reaching out to zionguitars.com/ or Reverb/Ebay. I took me 20-years to find the PowerGlide. So, lots of patience. Also, watch FB under the Zion Player's Coalition. They sometimes list Zions for sale. Hope that helps.
Very clever!
Another awesome display of Sand Art with your musical background.
Cool!
Spain:.... ¡¡¡YEEEES!!!
I’m sure you meant Phil has only four fingers on his right hand … if he’s got nine fingers there, then that’d be a pretty awesome (but kinda weird) hand… don’t ya think?
I'll always remember him holding up his hand at a concert saying to the audience "Gimme a high four and a half".
Do these guys have talent, or what?!!
Well done, that sound and chord progression at 6:30,is absolutely incredible.
<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 where is the duck tape :D
Bloody brilliant...simple but well thought through
You've made a mistake. You're trying to play two guitar parts at the same time. The peace of mind solo section you're playing was done by two guitarists. Tom and Barry.
I have a show from Merritt Island 3-11-1996. Did you record this also? Actually my video is the same as the show you posted. Do I have the wrong date?
I think you may be right. Not likely that Phil could pull off the same zanny events. I believe that 2006 was when I digitized the concert. Thanks for catching. I'll have to update my notes.
Patrick Star has declared war
Wow. I won't be moving there. You have about 100 yards to walk your dog along the beach. Really stupid.
Don’t use a tube screamer use an MXR distortion plus
You should of used the Spray Can to Hold it together
I feel so bad
The sand needed more water
What a GREAT story!! Wonderful to hear your voice narrate it as only you can do. Loved it, Ron. What a meaningful time for this young couple…one they will never forget. Loved that the whole beach was in on it! Haha.
I have one of these Ken Hoover Zions. I love hearing someone who can actually play it.
When it comes to playing, I've found it's always a continuing journey. I practiced this one for over a year... and it never fails that when you hit record on the video, you forget everything! Lol. What model Zion do you have?
@SandcastlingGuy I honestly don't know. It's got the body of a strat. I'm not sure if it was a custom one or not. It has a strange feature where you pull up the tone knob to activate one of the pickups.
Not if it ends up looking like the Leaning Tower of Pisa😂
Looks like a real structure or building crumbling.
I feel so sorry for him 😢
Look before he starts to remove the sculpture mat it was leaning to the right from the beginning never stood a chance
How do you do a pick slide?
It's pretty much holding the pick like a scraper against the lower wound strings (I mostly use the E and A strings ). Back in the 80's after a Petra concert I found a used guitar pick on the ground. Upon examination, there were two deep grooves along the edge. I''d watched the pick slide being done on Bob Hartman's "Judas' Kiss" solo, but I was very surprised at how damaged that poor pick was. I don't usually dig that deep with pick slides (keeps my picks from getting too ragged). But, ymmv. Go ahead, give it a shot. See what sounds good!
It reminds me of the collapse of Sauron
your recipe sounds awesome. Have you tried Overloud's new Rock Guy? I just got it yesterday, sounds pretty great, love to hear what you think needs tweaking if anything
So informative. Not sure you can ever replicate an analog-generated tone with apps.
Or just get a Rockman, done.

The half-cocked wah sound can be replicated with a Crybaby Q zone pedal. Or, in Tom’s case, a wah pedal. He was doing this in the early/mid 1970’s. Not nearly the available choices. He also knew what made sounds and how to manipulate them. THAT is the part everyone is missing. We’d all be better off creating riffs of our own, and sounds of our own, rather than chasing a ghost. Tom doesn’t do social media in any manner. So no, he’s not watching.
earthquake here caslte fall guard: RUN king: dies king girl: NOOO KING all guard and king girl died 1 guard: huh
Or buy an original Rockman! Like I did …cool box.
But that's cheating. Lol. If I ever spot an affordable one, I might just pick it up. Loved my original one, but boy could it eat batteries.
Very good, you've come very close, short of overlayed tracks. The sound is like violins on steroids. So, why not get a small orchestra together? That's basically what Tom did digitally.
I thought the course went back to the 80s but was remodeled in the 90s I remember playing it back in the day, fun times. Thank you for filming this.
Rip to all sand people who died in this collapse.

I don’t understand😢😢😢 the fast lane is on the left so why would the speed decrease on the left and increase on the right???Oohhhhh waiiitt maybe the pictures flipped..??
The speed limit is 45 except when making a left turn, then it's 40.
It appears to be for the turning lane approaching an intersection
I thought the same, till I drove the other way - same signs - no turning lane.
@@SandcastlingGuythat’s just not true. It’s definitely for the turning lane. Why would you waste your time posting this crap?
You need a Dimarzio super distortion pickups to sound like Boston. Put them in your guitar, you said your pickups suck. Its basicslly that, and a cranked marshall with punched mids. A wah wah pedal for leads.
I remember this exact moment...nice photo work! :)
Dude! It sounds REALLY good! I will say that's seems like a LOT of work and probably a lot more money, but it's the closest I've heard. I recently got the idea that if I picked up an old Rockman, ran my guitar through it and then sent the output to my Blackstar amp, I could get close. I haven't tried and it's not really how that device was intended to be used, but the chorus on the original Rockman is THAT Boston sound!
