From Pricks to Chucks
We are no longer at the Ashes so we can no longer be Two Pricks at the Ashes. Henceforth we shall be known as The Chuck Fleetwood-Smiths and here is our new song.
The theme tune was crafted by Harry Harrison whilst busking in Leicester Square.

Something went wrong with the end of the last video, I blame Alastair Cook and RUclips. So here it is in working fashion for all of those who can't get enough of Andrew Miller making noises.

I remember it all like it was yesterday, never before had I seen Ritchie so fired up. The cricketing world had just about forgiven and forgotten, and we got sandpapergate. I was furious. To be fair, there has been no reverse swing in a test match since, from any country, so most likely just that Australia got caught. If anything positive came out of it, I'm still trying to think of what it was...

No Pakistani can forget Ritchie as he was commentating when the great Akram bowled Alan Lamb and Lewis on successive deliveries in WC 1992 Final. Had the honour of meeting him in Lahore on the eve of WC 1996 final

This commentary by Richie was made after Greg Chappell ordered his brother, Trevor, to bowl underarm to prevent New Zealand from hitting a six off the last ball of the match to level the scores, an act that goes against the very spirit of manly competition. Yes, it was as weak as piss.

Oh boy, and he was right too, really right. It was a disgraceful way to end the match. Richie Benaud, Bumble and Mark Nicholas, the three best commentators out there. There's never be another like Benaud.

Summer to me as a kid in England meant playing cricket in the park with my friends (if the weather was kind). If I couldn't play cricket I'd watch the Test Match on BBC 1. 'Soul Limbo' and the voice of Peter West and Richie Benaud. Benaud is the absolute epitome of a fair, straight talking, witty and deeply knowledgeable commentator. Completely honest and impartial, with the kind of understatement that us Brits love. He never put a foot wrong. Michael Holding is a Caribbean version of Benaud, the same love of the game, the same forthrightness, the same integrity. Both inimitable. I miss Richie immensely.

I would say that is the second worst thing I’ve seen on a cricket field, the worst would be a player (NZ) throw a young boy over the boundary fence because the boy fielded a ball before it hit the boundary. Child abuse and nothing has been said, and that player was knighted by the queen.

The man was an Australian cricketer - yet he was universally loved and respected in England. You simply can't have a better epitaph than that. And this famous diatribe is one of the reasons - he would always put the game itself before any mere partisan considerations. No-one of his stature around today, sadly - he was one of a kind.

Australia vs New Zealand. NZ needed a 6 off the last ball to tie the game and so the Australian captain got the bowler - who was his brother - to bowl the ball underarm along the ground.
