Most likely Goku sensed Kami's ki. Which is how he was able to figure out who he is. Kami used a little ki to knock Yamcha out. So he recognized it. The problem is that if Goku could recognize Kami by ki, why couldn't he recognize it was Beerus instead of Monaka?
