I Don't Care By This Point

Nathan. Weeb, degenerate, poor tastes. Whatever it maybe, I'll be on the look out for anime, anime culture, history, memes, and the community and industry as I take on a journey with you what makes the art so heart-stopping, soul-shaping, mind-bendingly renowned and simultaneously the world's biggest mistake.
Comedy, editorials, analyses, reviews, and sketches about the anime landscape and its idiosyncrasies. It's a quest to seemingly cover all that anime can offer; even the most obtuse and padded-out of subjects aren't safe. Why? Because I Don't Care By This Point.

My Neighbor Totoro (1988)︱Ani-vember Review

Saying Totoro's the Mickey Mouse of Ghibli's like saying Mickey Mouse's the Mickey Mouse of Disney. It's kind of expected with how iconic he is. So, how does the Mickey Mouse of anime's 1988 movie play out? Well...very much in a very modern Mickey Mouse-ish spirit. "An American movie? In my Japanese animes review series?" Yep. We're taking a little detour to examine 1982's "The Last Unicorn", a film I'd consider as "anime-adjacent", not just in its studio ties, but in the actual animation. Is it worth a watch in this anime-only world, or am I just blowing smoke out my butt? Music (Lovingly) Used: "Lost My Way" by Cold Cinema - Link: bit.ly/3U79QRs "The La...

It's an experimental 80's film that's with Osamu Tezuka's name attached to it, so it must be artistically genius or complex, right? Well, it's.... good, at least. Sorta. It's the first X-rated anime film, and it's surprisingly headed by the father of boyhood dreams, Osamu Tezuka. I guess an increase of adolescent wet dreams count in that category... Your a good reviewer and need more views!
While i can find this movie to be oddly paced at times the theme of immortality and legacy kinda hits deep and i find Smendrick to be very relatable rather than a comic relief.
I just finished watching the movie on RUclips. As you say, it's often hard to watch, and my eyes did get a little moist at times. There is a scene where there is a review of the navy ship and the music is reminiscent of a Japanese musical theme from the Epic WW2 series, "Victory At Sea." It's a film I would definitely encourage others to watch.
I’m enjoying watching your videos this month. I might try to watch some of these.
Grave of the Fireflies is one of the most underrated war movies in existence and one of my personal favorites but I've only seen it 3 times. Also I'm really liking your videos, I found you on your Evangelion video. I feel like your channel has the potential to be huge.
Can I offer you a hard candy in these trying times?
Fellas, if your friend is a loveable forest creature who would do nothing but hug you everytime you needed it or even didn't; that's not Totoro, that's Winnine the Pooh.
Man, Ghibli's first movie so good, no wonder they're a powerhouse still around...wait, it's not Ghibli? It's TOPCRAFT? Cool, I'm sure they're still going strong with this showing...
I sometimes wonder what if....New York City and Chicago! Certainly not a pretty thought to ponder.
Laying it all bare here.
I remember I had this movie as a kid is there anyway to watch this online?
A lower quality, legal dubbed version can be found on TubiTV.com (or Amazon Prime if you want to pay for a better version). For other versions, you may have to go sailing on the high seas, even here on RUclips's oceans. Not that I would know anything about that.
I watched it here on RUclips some months ago
I'm alive. (This is a reference to the movie, not IRL events🫠).
Great review man keep It up
youtube reccomendations gave me a good video for once.
Apparently I released this early while I was asleep. Oops...um...merry Election Day.
Ah, this must be the famous Shakespeare character I've been hearing about. Cool to see the god of anime talk about her life. *after watching video*: Man, Shakespeare had a lot of weird ideas.
Magic is all around us. For example, I just cast the spell pixelus deletus.
Did I actually see a Popeye look-a-like?
Yes, it was! Remember that as a propaganda film, it was very much anti-American. And if a pillar of American strength like Popeye were to fall to the heroes of the film, then it'd stretch its messaging even more.
@@IDontCareByThisPoint That makes sense - sort of.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it's time it's time it's tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime!
In the words of the great philosopher David Coverdale, "Here I go again on my own." Except this is the first time...and you're presumably joining me too. So, yeah...Whitesnake was a bit off on that one.
Pfft. 1945? You're not a real anime fan if you haven't seen "Dental Health", 1923, or "Katsudo Shashin", date unknown.
Marathon time! Which is your favorite anime I talked about here? What's to come for this November? Am I full of bad opinions? Slowly approach those questions' answers over the video, and enjoy!
This channel is going to go big if the quality stays the same.
Thanks a lot, but I'll aim to make the quality better and better along with my skill and writing just in case.
Nice review!
Thanks. Look forward to more soon.
Wow, really thorough, well done essay. (Now time for my 2 cents that nobody cares about.) As much as I appreciate and respect everything the original series was able to accomplish, I'm simply unable to hold the Rebuild films in anywhere near as high of a regard. The storyline, if you can call it that, greatly suffers due to its compressed runtime when I think it would've benefited by instead being expanded upon with longer intervals between angel battles. This could've allowed for improved world-building and more in-depth exploration of the characters and their relationships to each other. I still find the entire introduction of WILLE, the AAA Wunder airship monstrosity, and its bland, nameless crew to be completely unnecessary, out of place for the franchise, and downright silly in its execution. When I think of how much time and money were probably devoted to their inclusion... Just Ugh Not to mention, I would've gladly sidelined the Mari Illustrious Makinami character in favor of seeing Touji Suzuhara finally get his moment in the spotlight, piloting a completely non-corrupted Unit-03 this time around and delivering an epic old-school curbstomping of Bardiel's true form. That, plus a scene where he fully surrenders to the temptation of tuning up NERV's now defunct Dummy System with a baseball bat. The whole sequence could play out much like the one involving the printer from Office Space. Viewers unfamiliar with the original series would have zero context, but it would be the very apex of fanservice to see the Fourth Child settle such an old score once and for all (but I digress). I'm confident you'll do an excellent job covering the Rebuilds, but I'm actually looking forward much more to hearing your thoughts on Steins;Gate, which is on my short list of favorites.
For what it's worth, I appreciate your two cents. Thanks for the insight, I hope to do you proud on future videos not just on Steins;Gate, but topics and media. -Nathan, IDC

My only question is - "What does the main theme of the Choral Movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony have to do with a lonely kid on a subway?"
Little known fact, Shinji's depressive state was actually Beethoven's inspiration for writing a hymn-like piece
@@IDontCareByThisPoint Are you saying that Beethoven was a fan of anime? :)
Hmmmm, I don't know about calling that a planet. I haven't even come across its direct mass, but there's no way it clears the other necessary parameters to ... Oh, that's not the point of this video? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Whenever I have a cataclysmic existentialist breakdown, I sure hope I get a nice soundtrack to accompany it like Shinji does.
Pretty cool~
A new video! Now with 50% more carpal tunnel!
The office couple in #8 reminds me of me and my wife. We are very different in so many ways; yet, we find ways to be helpful, while also sometimes getting under each other's skin, so to speak. That reminds me, a friend from years ago was so mad at his wife that he wanted to just "skin her alive" (of course, he didn't). To that, I answered, "If you skin her alive, then you'll find out if beauty really is only skin deep!" Somehow, he wasn't amused.
College was the time that my otaku side would go on overdrive. Its my way of decompression I guess.
I still have nightmares about being late for a class I never took for a test I never had with people I didn't go to college with for a degree I never majored in. Just PTSD things.
@@IDontCareByThisPoint It’s been a long while, but I used to dream that I was late for a BIG final! However, I couldn’t remember which class it was at, or even what building on campus! Then, I remember my notes are in my locker, but I can’t recall where my locker is! Then, I stumble onto my locker, but can’t remember the lock combination! Yeah; it was scary!
real nice video, short and sweet, it gets to the point. although the mic sounds a bit muffled and is kinda hard to hear at times.
Thanks for the feedback. Will try to work on that. In the meantime, feel free to turn on closed captions if you need them.
underrated

Everybody gangsta till the 700 year old immortal lady has her eyes on you.
@@IDontCareByThisPoint So, this 700 year old immortal lady is not just your everyday normal babe! I have a granddaughter who - according to my son - is really into Manga. BTW, I had to read online what the terms Gansta (not to be confused with Gansta Rap) and Manga involved. Completely different culture; definitely not “Bugs Bunny.”
