This is a review of the KG-1000G plus
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.Год назад
This is one of the first videos that I’ve ever made in my life. I hope that somebody gets enjoyment and it helps anybody that is on the fence about buying this radio decide what they want to do for their self. I enjoy the radio so far the last two months. Before I bought this radio there was not many reviews showing the different conditions for the power you get and how to take the front face...

KG-1000G plus scan speed on both sides A B
Long winded in getting hot. Waste of time.
😂
You can make it so the p1 through p6 buttons do what you want. Also depending on what frequency youare on I have seen 27wts out of my radio.I really am glad I have this I ended up getting two.One for a base and one in my jeep .I love the can feature.
Long press your func button for menue
If you long- hold the 'func' key it'll display an interactive menu.
Got mine delivered for $103..............cant beat that with a stick. Hooked to a Diamond X30 it;s making a great little base radio in my geewrage.
Which antenna you using for GMRS?
Browning BR-450 UHF Land Mobile Base Antenna, for car and Tram 1486 UHF Land Mobile Base Antenna, Silver, 63" Tall for the base antenna with Messi and Paoloni 10 coax that I feel was the biggest and most important thing for Gmrs is good coax so you do not lose your power transferring it from your radio to the antenna
What power adapter do you need to be able plug in at home when not mobile.
I use the cord it come with in to a power supply.
@@RangeRadio101 What power supply would you recommend? I'm new and very confused with power supplys
The biggest problem I have with this radio is on the mike my hand hits the unlock button
Yea and the button that flips the screen haha
I’ve had this radio for a little over a year now and it’s a very good radio for the price, and also, it’s very easy to program without a computer.
Great video ! 2 questions: I live in USA in the northeast "ct." What band should i be on ? You mentioned that the at 778uv gets air band, how do i get to it ? Keep up the great videos ! Thanks.
So do you want to do gmrs license or a ham license and or just listen if you’re looking for repeaters for Gmrs you can go to mygmrs.com to see if there are any in your area and ham you just look up repeaterbook.com and for air band you could try www.Radioreference.com I hope this helped 👍🫡
You hit the fun button and the six others will change on the screen, then “at least mine” will be the bottom right button “p6” marked BND for band, hitt that button until the screen comes to the air band which will be between 108 and 137 MHz. The lowest 10 MHz of the band, from 108 to 117.95 MHz will be narrow band while the others are wide band.
Just confirming this radio will work on Ham and GMRS repeaters? Transmit and Receive?
Yes mine did but I got mine almost a year ago but I bet they still are sold the same 👍
@@RangeRadio101, can this radio be plugged into the vehicle cigarette lighter outlet? TIA! 73
@@rickramirez7710 this is only my opinion it is not professional advice. It only goes up to 25 W on VHF and UHF it’s lower so I would feel it would be safe with the proper cigarette, lighter adapter
But with anything it would be safer to run it straight to the battery, but it also depends on how many amps your cigarette lighter can pull
This is a GMRS RADIO CORRECT Any Tone 778 UV . Thanks 👍👍👍👍 can you receive HAM channels
it can do both
WAS HE TALKING ON THE SAME RADIO
i received mine a couple of days ago. I love it! I am a new ham and I think this is the BEST dual band radio for the money. I just had an extended QSO with it through my local club repeater, and yes it gets a little warm. It wasn't an issue. The display is excellent! Anytone radios might be Chinese but they are good. This is no exception. Inexpensive and capable. 73.
15:50s - don't key up your radio without an antenna or dummy load connected ! You probably forgot that you removed the antenna earlier and then got distracted with your commentary. Easily done.
yea I seen that the day after I put it up lol was a long work week my dad actually noticed before I did lol
779 is garbage
It’s definitely not the best radio ever but for the price it does the job but it will never match to the $500 Icom or yaesu
Is the meter accurate?
Yeah the meter Accurate
@@RangeRadio101 I noticed my power for high reads 20 watts not 25
@@Kens1966 on 2 m mine was 25 watts on 70cm it’s lower on mine one thing I have seen not every radio is the same.
I keep my volume at 30 also
Yeah it’s not very loud I keep it turned all the way up to 33
I never checked the power on a meter. I checked my swr
I thought the hand Mic on this radio would of felt cheap but surprised it didn't
Have.
Or do you mean "would feel cheap"
just bought on of these. I like it. I had to look up the buttons and functions. I hit every repeaters I usually talk on with 5 watts. I like to program by hand. I could use my pc but I have to take the radio move it by my pc. I bought this cause of the price and reviews. I did buy a alinco from a halfway. It didn't have a hand Mic. I went on eBay and ordered the during Mic. The seller refunded my money. After that I sold the alinco for what I had in it and bought this good review
I like it, great bang for buck. What power supply do you use at home for it? I cant hit my repeater with my Anytone 878 from home as im in a valley.
The radio requires 13.8 volts. No less. If you’re going to use this as a base radio, you need a power supply that supplies a fixed 13.8 volts or an adjustable one that will supply more than 13.8 and dial it in. The radio will tell you what voltage it is getting.
Whenever I put it on a 13.8 volt 30 amp power supply it did 46 watts.
Let’s assume I know absolutely nothing about this, because I don’t. My knowledge is when I press and talk there’s a chance someone else will answer. So hearing all this might as well be Chinese. Will this replace my CB and then also give me GMRS, FRS, VHF, and UHF? And is it reliant on cellular networks? And the warming problem…is this just when you’re transmitting or can you monitor without burning the unit up? I’m looking to put a unit in my Ford, Suburban, and my travel trailers.
Unless you’re looking to replace your cb with different frequencies, then no it won’t, it’s a uhf/vhf Ham radio, not a cb radio, no it’s not reliant on cellular, it does however work with repeaters that are usually high up in mountains or tall buildings, and no it’s not reliant on repeaters as you can talk simplex,”radio to radio” and yes, once you perform the mod to the radio which you can find on RUclips and is very easy to do by the front face and hand mic, you can “program gmrs and frs frequencies” into it, no need for instructions as you can find everything you need to know on RUclips for this radio. With all that being said, as a cb radio hobbyist and a ham/gmrs license holder, I would never ever replace my cb radios, if you’re having problems with the cb, you’ve done something wrong in the initial set up.
@@bobdillashaw4360 Nope. CB is fine, but this will be a good addition. Will probably mention it to our manager as well for unit to unit comms on fire standbys.
it's terribly hot when broadcasting, it's better to pay extra and buy anlico transistors, they're not well grounded on the cooler, only through the flat, it's a shame they didn't make it better
I have the KG-UV980P and the UV9D+. Wouxan makes great stuff!
Yes for gmrs they make good stuff I think too
I've got two of them. At the moment, car 🚗 to car. Working on my own repeater. 73's
Very cool I want to put my own repeater up soon too
Is that wideband?
Yes wide and narrow
Early versions of this radio the dtmf tones did not work useless for dtmf programing if a repeater controller. Do they work now? 4/2023 . 1-0 and A B C D keys .
How do you enable the scan feature
Pick whichever side Left or right and hit scan on the hand mic or B on top of radio Should be programmed to scan from the factory
thanks, got it figured out, now in scan mode when it stops during a transmission it does restart the scan automaticily ? Can you change the scan speed and how?@@RangeRadio101
you should add a mini fan or a pc fan to it that should help you out with cooling the radio on long sessions.
That is a great idea I will see if I can work one in I know on the 50 watt amplifier from Btech we did that with big success.
@@RangeRadio101I'm working on one this weekend, using a thermal switch at 60 degrees C, and a chassis fan for a computer. I'll be bonding the switch and fan directly to the cooling fins using sikaflex.
IT SAYS IT HAS FAN Mic,Built-In cooling
@@francisharvey1811 it doesn't have a built-in cooling I own one these radios
Nice review thanks. I am currently living in the Philippines and there are abundance of these Chinese radios available. I might look into this. AB0HI
Yea there are some that cost more but this money is a good pick unless your looking for more power.👍
Nice radio…👍
Yea I feel for the price it’s a big player in the radio world I started the review should be out in a day or so 👍
I am going to do a part two because I took a video of taking off the face of the radio and forgot to put it in so any ideas or ? Let me know 👍
