CHRISTCHURCH QUAY AND GARDENS
This was early January 2025, just a bit of a stroll around the Priory gardens, The Quay and the Norman house in Christchurch Dorset. I didn't have my usual camera gear with me, just hand held phone. Bit of a spare of the moment filming to pass some time while I was waiting for my car serviced.

Bournemouth gardens & Pier December 2024
Просмотров 12721 день назад
Following on from my walk along Bournemouth's Westover Road, I continued on through the gardens and along the pier. I did the Christmas light trail after dark the last two years. As it is always much the same there was no real point in repeating it this year. I will put out the third video in this series shortly, where I carried on to the town centre Christmas market.
Westover Road Bournemouth 2024
Просмотров 502Месяц назад
Don't know if this is of interest but, this is Westover Road in the centre of Bournemouth. I can remember when it was reffered to as the Oxford Street of the south, (although that has sunk downhill also over the years) many years ago. Over the years it became very run down, with the loss of cinemas and many high end shops, leaving big scruffy boarded up holes in the block. Now it is an odd mix ...
POOLE TOWN QUAY NOVEMEBR 2024
Просмотров 419Месяц назад
This is a stroll along the Town Quay in Poole Dorset, filmed November 2024. With a quick look around the old lifeboat station at the start. Sadly I haven't been able to do many fishing videos this year. Almost every boat trip I've booked has been cancelled due to high winds and rain, hopefully I'll get out more next year.
Wareham in Dorset 2024
Просмотров 244Месяц назад
This was just a quick walk around the ancient market town of Wareham in Dorset. November 2024. I started at the quayside and walked along the high street and a couple of side streets. No commentary or chatter on this one just the walk as I saw it.
SHOP TOUR NOVEMBER 2024
Просмотров 452Месяц назад
Hi folks, another of my quick, fairly, walks around the shop. Just pointing out what we have and a few bargain items. Please be aware that this is end of November in 2024, thus some items are likely to be sold out shortly afterwards. Especially the one or two off items. As most of you know I do a lot of reel service and repairs. From time to time I get odd items from the wholesalers which altho...
Christchurch Model Railway Club Exhibition

this is the CMRC exhibition on the 13th October 2024. The club was formed by a small group of enthusiasts back in the early eighties. We met in a corner of Jim Etheridge's garden shed at first. Work on layouts was done in the workshops at the water company where Jim worked, for the early years. The club held a yearly exhibition at the water company club house on the island at Knapp Mill for man...
Romsey Vintage Tackle Fair

This is the twice per year vintage tackle show held at Romsey Community school every April and October. Yep this year it was 29th September. The second one of the year is always a bit quieter as I explain in the video. However still a first rate event, with lots of stuff on offer.

BOAT FISHING BONEY M POOLE

This is a day I spent afloat with the crew from the Christchurch And District Fishing Club, Aboard the charter boat Boney M, Skipper Louis Medley, out of Poole in Dorset. Filmed early July 2024, a reasonable day's weather considering the appalling summer we had been having. A distinct lack of Mackeral, in fact we only caught about a dozen between us. However the Tope where happily taking frozen...

Bournemouth Model Railway Exhibition 2024

Well folks this is maybe a little, perhaps a lot, sort of “off piste” for a mainly fishing channel. However it does come under the heading general interest videos. Many years ago, more than I want to admit to, I was a founder member of the Christchurch Model Railway Club. This major show came up so I thought why not go along and film it. An absolutely first class show, with at least twenty layo...
Shop Tour Bargains February 2024

Just a quick look around at a few bargain items in the shop at the moment. Do keep in mind this is February 2024 and these are one only and likely to have been sold if you are viewing it later in the year. Yes I can take paypal and post but postage on bulky or heavy items is not cheap these days

Useless stuff just salted rag
how can it be useless when people have been catching fish on salted baits for decades. One of the staple baits used to be collecting Mussles and Slipper Limits and salting them in kilner jars or Lugworm salted made a very tough bait..
You can keep ragworm alive for weeks in the fridge in a shallow tray of seawater just got to keep checking on them and removing any dead ones and change the water every 2 or 3 days
@tonywojcik6097 found that lugworm will keep for a fair while in shallow water in a very cold fridge. Never known it to work that well with Ragworm though. Needs running water in a cascade system
You went at the right time of year it seems. It is teeming with grockles in the summer and morons on jetskis. Steamer Point and Highcliffe beaches are a bit more zen.
Do you know what size carp are in there would love to head down there one day live about 5 mins from there in binnegar
I honestly don't know, there are I'm told a few decent ones in there, loads of Tench and Skimmers. As fish tend to grow to suit their environment there should be some good size ones in there
@ thanks mate just wanted to know if it weren’t just wanted to know if there weren’t like 1lbers and atleast worth catching
Nice! Tony here, got a few vids up 😊
Absolutely shocking the way it is now. Used to be really nice to shop.
That's the oddity still some really high end shops mixed in with empty premises and boarded up stuff
It's become a ghetto...needs sorting!!
Not sure it in anyway fits that description. The strange thing is that it is a mix of very high end shops and empty, often boarded up, premises.
Happening all around the country, all by design
Absolutely , thing is around this area there are some shopping streets where there's a mix of smart, sometimes upmarket, shops and empty often derelict premises.
Spent my childhood in westbourne 1950 through to 1960 very sad to see the decline. Westover Ice rink Linden hall hydro etc
Absolutely agree the whole town has declined from what it once was. Strangely enough Westbourne is not looking too bad these days.
@tackle914 That's good. We lived in McKinley road but my parents decided to move to Jersey That was in 1959 West Bourne was great I went to school at the Collegiate in Poole road I think with high income tax of the late 50s drove many people out of England you probably won't remember but it was 19/6d in the pound at the time so for every pound you earned you only got say 10 pence. That is the reason for the decline in the high class entertainment and shops. I loved Bournemouth.
@@12dougreed I vaguely recall those days, that was the max rate for higher income tax payers, you had to be on serious pop star type money to hit that level though. I'll try and do a walk around Westbourne in the new year,
Thank you, a real blast from the past, used to live up the road from here in the 90s. Hasn't changed that much, all good memories, especially the pubs.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you so much for posting this, finally find a fix for my vintage abu 4601 gunnar
good to hear,
WHAT??? Speak more clearly please.
???I think you must have an issue with the sound on your device
Yeh looking for tackle shops Dorset, possibly some fishing, get random train videos👍 Awesome continuity.
@newforester1408 hope you enjoyed it, plenty of fishing related videos on my channel. But also a few general interest videos.
Great vid mate. Much appreciated. The plastic cog/drive on mine does have some wear on the teeth... any idea whether there is an easy fix or if spare parts are still available? Thanks again. Cheers 🍻
Parts are still about for those reels, but there are a number of variations of that gear. So would need to compare it to a selection to find the correct one.
very interesting, thank you
Best way to keep rag is in sea peat and not broken! I used to be a digger!
This is aimed at keeping it long term not just for a few days.
just came back from anglsea where another fisherman gabe me 3 lots of rag still alive got a trip on the 27th and don't think I can keep them alive for 2 wks might try this saves wasteing them and as they were free wont hurt trying
Great video, all the best Rich A 🦈🦈

Berkley ' fishing rods ... hot rod , series one , bionix , spin cast , salmon steelhead ? Help .

@@tackle914 thanks. Regards from serbia
Can’t see what you’re doing. Not very helpful
Great video , thank you. Looking to service my surf blaster penn reel using this video as a guide.
very expensive pub that is. £££££
Do still have any sent left
Probably being frozen should hold the flavour.
Have a penn mk1 surfblaster 7000 with a damaged worm drive, having problems getting the worm drive for the mk1 would be grateful for any help. Cheers
To catch the guy to catch the fish, reel em in ey !
Well explained very useful 👍
Thank you 🙂
Some cracking stuff wish we had them up the north east
It is a really superb show, usually first Sunday in April and October. There is another vintage tackle show at Redditch, not sure of the date but later in the year.
how cold can it handle is the question
We did do a test on a reel by putting in the shop bait freezer for around ten minutes, minus 30degrees. But could have taken less time. Plus on a beach windchill lowers temperature a lot.
Long is good more to see..great design and details on on all of these platforms.thanks for sharing.😊
Thanks for watching!
Just above the bridge my wife and I saw the biggest barbel that we have ever seen and we have both caught double figure barbel and would estimate the fish to be comfortably over 20lbs being both wide and deep as it rolled slightly.
Brilliant how to video, Thankyou RUclips algorithms for chucking it into my watch this list. Did a search to see who you are and never realised you existed and only in Bournemouth! Really must visit next time that way.
Thank you I try to keep it as clear as possible.
@@tackle914 just need to promote you are in Bournemouth and one of the closest fishing stores to one of our best beaches.. It wasn’t obvious where you were based , I am in Southampton but didn’t know you Cheers
Thanks for these videos, very useful and certainly educational.
really do love watching these shop tours
nice video, are we able to fly fish in close season? march to june ?
Like every river in England and Wales fishing is not permitted in the close season, March 16th to June 16th inclusive. Plus like any freshwater yoh need an environment agency rod licence. Very substantial fines for fishing in closed season or without a rod licence.
I believe but not certain fly fishing is allowed in the trout and salmon season, you do need a game rod licence.
hi mate iv come across your channel as i am in search for tackle shop tours as im in the process of opening my very own shop up in essex I loved watching your shop tours gives me plenty of inspiration im now a subscriber to you channel
Thank you and good luck with your new venture. Can I give you some advice. Many times I've seen good anglers go into business and stock what they would use, stock what the majority of potential customers will want, rarely the same .
@tackle914 yeah thats sound advice mate 👍
Great video mate I've always know this as the "up and over" rig.
Sort of but up and over is usually a fixed lead not running lead
Cool.. Not changed much, last time was 15 yrs back for me
Good simple but effective rigg thanks for demonstrating
Thank you if you scroll back through the channel to about two years ago there are a number of other rig making videos.
Thank you for the video. I put 3 x Surfblasters in the 'broken' box 3 years ago not knowing how to repair the worm drive and antireverse. The video has helped me fixed both. Didn't realise Versions 1, 2 and 3 were so interchangeable so now using the spare mk1 spools on the mk2. Thank you! Just need a spare case, gear and a worm drive and could fix the 4th! 😆
Thank you for your comments. The parts you need can be ordered from QM Spares phone 01752 603001 speak to Quentin or Mike.
Very helpful my type of shop strongly recommend 😊
Thank you Chris.
More content like this please
If you scroll back through the list there are a number of rig building videos. Don't know if you've seen them.
Not as festive as your shop window! All the best for 2024.
Its a pretty good attempt, thanks
An old school tackle shop and fantastic service, you gotta love it.....
THANK YOU Darren,
Nice one andy 👊👍shimano customer service is as good as Leeda 🤣🤣
Thing is Leeda do budget reels, shiman no parts back up on high end reels, or charge hideous prices for parts.
Stupidly high prices, many parts are sold in packs now, instead of individuals. Just to push the prices up! @@tackle914
@@tackle914 snapped a new Leeda rod they COUDNT do enough to blame me,shame google has plenty of people that did the same 🤣🤣
Had a customer a while back small nylon cog stripped in an Ultegra 4500 shimano only sell it with a gear set, two brass gears that only ever interact with the nylon one so never going to wear . £22+vat and shipping. Bought just the geat from a firm in Canada 80cents ,ok got hit $10 for shipping but bought other bits as well.
Looks amazing guys .. the idea of a secluded lake nowadays is so attractive.. the walkabouts is proper useful 👌
It is my sort of spot, right out on the countryside. Its on the Ringwood and Wimbourne members books, don't think day tickets are available. Members can get guest tickets though.
@tackle914 already sorted the membership through Dean.. thanks for all the info though dude 🤟
Seeing as I've lived in Bournemouth for seven years now, and had family here all my life, I should probably know the area better. It looks like there could be (on a calm day) some fun fishing for the mini species on the groynes there. Bass fishing for the big, tough boys too, though that's not quite my kind of thing. Maybe some tiny freshwater fish a little up the bunny, if there are a few yards where one can get away with that. Wild fish are the best, no matter how small. Thanks for your posts. A few of us are watching, I am sure we all appreciate it.
Was this on Monday? I think that's me following you out of the harbour 😆
Monday 1st October Shaun
