The frunk is great if you are in the inner city in a house without a garage or living in an apartment. In that case (as in my case) you just use the trickle charger and a 100' 10 guage power cord. The frunk is very useful in that case. Obviously I have the full electric car...I love her incredibly.
2014 i3
hi rolohaun
I'm 14, and I bought this exact car for $1600. It's super reliable!
Looks from the dashboard that the power was pretty severely restricted due to battery temp - did you notice this?
no restriction in power, car drove normally.
@@RolohaunGarage I guess (understandably!) you weren't trying to use full power. Looks like the second half of the full power wasn't available as the power meter was only half lit with the rest greyed out. Some of the regen power also greyed out.
@@dopiaza2006 yes your right I didn't push it, was hard to tell if there was any reduction
Great info..... will be doing mine in a few years.....
Very nice car and video.
Watching this in my 9 months old to me C55.
awesome, C55 and v8 is nice too!
Which BMW i3 option is good?
any 2017+ it is good, I do recommend one with the Range Extender
You should remove cheap out of the title. There is no such thing as a cheap Benz. They all cost the same to maintain... expensive.
if you DIY most of the repairs and buy parts from FCPeuro and such it can be cheap performance
I am selling a Black Opal color 2003 C32 on Ebay and Craigs list has 18800 Miles, I also have another 2003 C32 that I have had 13 yrs now.
Nice
Favorite car I've owned. Wish I would have kept mine.
they are a hidden gem, I still see some for sale but they are getting rare
Like your videos but this one unfortunately seems to be a video just to pop out a video. This had so much potential...the "problems" you listed are super rare. Should have mentioned the much more common ones: ...#1 leaking valve cover gaskets and breather gaskets (all Mercs from that era). Easy to fix yourself just a little time consuming and will cost less than $10 if DIY. If garage has to do it they will most likely charge $1000+. Many videos on youtube explaining the process step by step or forums like MBWorld. #2 Crankshaft position sensor. This will cause your car to stall when the engine is hot. It will not start but after a few minutes it will start again once the engine has cooled down. Also a simple DIY fix but some mechanics who dont know how to work on these cars usually don't diagnose it right away. Sensor is held in by one bolt and relatively easy to replace, just in an awkward position/spot but inexpensive. #3 O2 sensor. Same concept, but less promonent. #4 Relay Control Module (RCI). Takes less than 3 minutes to replace, sits under the engine in the black box on the passenger side and has two bad soldering joints that will leave you stranded on the side of the road. This is one where clueless mechanics suspect startert, battery and much worse and yet if you take a two minute crash course on soldering you can touch the joints up yourself or dish out the $70 to buy a brand new relay. And that's pretty much it. But should have mentioned these and how to diagnose. Seems like a lazy video for clicks.
thanks for your comment but 1, 2 and 3 are very generic and common on most German cars. 4 seems like a good tip. I wanted to cover specifics to this car and that's what my video did, sorry you didn't feel that way.
The only real issue with these W203 models is, as you can see, rust everywhere on the body parts such as doors, front and rear fenders, front windshield and so on ...
yes a shame it is common on these
I've had my SLK32 for a year and 2 days! I've absolutely loved it but, just like my CLK320 the transmission is starting to feel a little iffy! Everyone swears these 722.6 trans are bulletproof but I tend to disagree!
you might just need a fluid change or maybe you have a leak starting at the connector?
@@RolohaunGarage I have tried just about every trick in the book! When I took the electrical plug out the fluid was nasty, but it did not appear to be leaking! BTW I would 100% recommend the needswings dual cold air intake. It makes the SC just sing! ND_72 has a decent discount code for it along with a lot of m112k parts.
@@Valsmercedes it's so expensive for me 700 USD, I am going to build a SL55 / E55 intake for mine
This car always has good reviews. My luck with cars have been so bad that im scared to buy this
get a prepurchase inspection and you should have no troubles!
Your missing the cabin air filter which is located on top of the battery
ya it broke, I need to order a new filter cage
I bought a used 2018 i3 BEV with 46k miles on it 2 years ago. I just changed the left motor mount last weekend, otherwise it's been a troublefree car. Looking at picking up another i3 once my youngest starts driving...they get this i3 and I'm hoping to pickup an i3S for myself. 😊 Former E30 owner myself, 1987 325e. Lovely car to drive. Also owned a 1972 2002 which is one my favorite cars of all time.
awesome! Surprised you had to replace a motor mount,
Good review mate
I just wanted to declare I subbed to your channel when you only had 100 subs. ;-)
thank you!
Hey Brother, I'm just purchasing the exact same colour C32 in Australia. Should be in my hands within 2-3 days. Its my first proper AMG my daily is a W204 C320 Cdi & I have another W204 C320 Cdi factory option with lots of AMG bits that'll be modded to do Drag n Drive events. Keep the vids coming.
awesome! I have been trying to find a w211 E320 CDI but they are rare here
@@RolohaunGarage The W211 has an inline 6 OM648 201hp & 5sp 722.6 as I recall, where as the W204 has the V6 OM642 220hp & 7sp 722.9. I'm not sure what countries got them but here the Avantegarde (both mine) are the highest spec C series before the C63 AMG.
@@DukeOfTwist yes that is correct, I heard the OM642 is not good?

Afaik the loading time varies highly with ambient and battery temperature. Curious about how fast you can charge from 10-80% in "good weather" (whatever that means where you live 😅) vs when it's -20°c or -30°c
because this is a second car for my I just leave it plugged in overnight and it's good to go. If there is a departure time set then the i3 will preheat the battery
Hi, if you don't mind me asking, What size battery do you have? 94ah? I'm looking at buying one and i'm in canada as well. My biggest driving day on Vancouver Island is 200ish klms.. You think this is a good fit?
yes 2017 and up have the 94ah size. If you have the range extender that's very easy.
Nice! Range will of course be a lot more if you heat up car with it plugged in to a charger, or if you drive a longer distance so you don't have to heat up the car from cold every 11 kilometers. :)
ya it increased once warm
Shame that it has not been looked after. They are great cars in fact my first 4 wheeler. The sunroof actually gives you more head room even before opening. Best Dave
yep very underrated, I love mine
Great video ,just wondering how you heat the battery up?
thanks, the car will do that normally when heating up using the preheat feature.
Ideally connect to charger overnight and program for departure time, so battery and interior will both be warmed up for your trip. If you have dynamic electricity pricing or night time lower price, you can also program the car to charge for the cheaper price.
for sure, I agree
Really cold 🥶 but good to see, the I3 work at this weather conditions 🙌 Thx for the video!
ya the next day it was even colder -32 C and no issues!
Bro i want a video on ambient lighting of bmw i3
m.ruclips.net/user/shortsYaHTGIFO210
not really anything stock
I'm thinking about purchasing, what's the best year and how much is maintenance
you want a 2017 or newer model, maintenance is basic, oil change once a year if you have range extender and that is it
Cool video. 100% agree with you about the numbers game on range. I always look at battery percentage as well or just calculate the blue battery bars as roughly 30 miles (55km) for each bar and 20 miles (32km) per gray bar on the REX. We have had our i3 for over 3 years and never once have i ever had any range anxiety driving around, mainly because this is an EV with a back plan which is genius. BMW i3 is such a great super reliable little car no matter what weather conditions it has to deal with. Cheers !!🤓
We love the BMW i3 sooooooo much that we ended up getting second one for the wifey. Hands down best car we have ever owned, and having a level 2 home charging makes the ev experience absolutely fantastic. Great video, thank you for sharing 👍
Why is the engine warning light on?
I didn't start it, just acc is on
Thx! But I really miss the information of what your battery size is!
oh it's tiny 94 Ah / 33 kWh in comparison a Model Y is 75 kWh
That's pretty cool (huh) but it'd be even better if you said how much time you've spent heating it up both for the first time and before driving back home Is it possible to turn it on and drive off instantly? Can you preheat it remotely? Does range loss affect the battery in a long term? Man you sparkled so many questions
On the i3 heating up takes about 10 minutes in this weather, my model Y is around 5 min. Yes I can turn it on and off and drive when I want do need to worry about anything. The BMW app does have remote preheating. Range loss is pretty minimal for most modern EV's depends on a lot of factors. My 2017 i3 still had 95 percent battery health.
Cool
literally :)
looks sick. Im a fan of the rivet look on this one
but if its a real m tech then its a shame
Ya, from what I can find it doesn't look to be, I checked the VIN and I can see any Mtech options. Looks like it just has the rear seat from some reason haha. The wide body is neat for sure, I like the unpolished look. Hope to get it out in a few months and clean some things up and do mods.
Looks good! Was contemplating getting a wide body kit and this pushed me over the edge.
I really like the stock look of the E30 but this one was too cool to pass up!
I dont know anything about cars, but I must admit I like how this one looks
P.S. do I spy a laser in the background 😳
ya thats my sculpfun I did a video on it lol
shame about the rattle paint. would have been a good project to sand it, prime it and wrap it.
ya it's ok though looks fine for what it is
wouldnt the wrap stick better to this shitty paint than to primer?
@@florider_hd it actually might, I may experiment in the summer
Vinyl adheres just as well to primer as paint. Rattle can paint jobs tend to leave spots that would be visible through the vinyl.
You can manual contol wipers now with new update.
I seen that finally!
Tesla isn’t the only company that only provides radar cruise and nothing less. My Audi S4 also suffers from braking incorrectly, same as my previous couple of Audis.
ya my infiniti Q50 had the same issues
😀 ruclips.net/video/Y5SCklcLie4/видео.htmlsi=KkDZsjPQ7E56tHvO
You don't drive with Chill mode, do you? You shouldn't use it if you want the car to have good acceleration and be fun to drive Although it can be good when it's cold If you want the passenger compartment to be heated most efficiently
no I prefer normal mode
Tesla 3 performance has track mode where you can decide how many percentages should be on the rear and front wheels. but why do you want the drive on the front wheels close-up manufacturers like Volvo have introduced rear-wheel drive on their electric cars it is considered better on an electric car than front-wheel drive. The fact that it is not constant four-wheel drive is probably simply because the car will consume less battery
You have problems with the generation braking, but some others have not at all
I do not have any problems, I like one pedal driving but a lot of users what the choice and I think it would be easy to do. Other EV's let you customize your regen
Your Tesla should have 3 modes for What should happen when you release the gas pedal. And I assume you have installed the latest updates
that is just for when you come to a stop, roll, hold and creep or whatever.
