We strive to be self-reliant. Our core values are; to produce as many of our inputs as possible, respect and enjoy the outdoors, and blend traditional skill sets and mindsets with modern technology to become more independent. We aspire to achieve these values through; gardening, food preservation, bush crafting, general preparedness, hunting, and fishing. We do these things because a simpler life brings us closer to our creator and enables us to live a richer and more fulfilling life, freer from societies wasteful consumer culture. We don't want to be like everyone else, we want to blaze our own path.
Why I Prefer Wooden Handled Tools
This is the reason that I prefer traditional wooden handled tools over other options typically.

Szco Sodbuster Review | Hard to Beat For $4
Some suspenders wearers speak against wearing suspenders with alligator clips but I personally have been wearing alligator clip suspenders without any problems. At work I wear the Perry trucker style suspenders with my belt and they secure the suspenders very well to my belt and the feel is very comfortable for the work environment. When not at work I wear the trigger style and clip style suspenders. Also I do wear my alligator clip suspenders to work everyday to hold up my Long john thermal pants because the elastic in them has gone bad. They are worn under my clothing and they aid in keeping my thermal pants up and in keeping me warmer. So basically I'm wearing two pairs of suspenders at the same time.
Will you ever do a video on off grid living?
Suspenders are essentials when moving a lot when outside in the wild. Thanks for the video, well done
Thank you!! I think they are underrated for sure!
Does not mean much when the price per gallon of kerosene in Selma Texas is 11.00 dollars a gallon. A national disgrace.
That is crazy!
Thank you for the video!
Thank you for the support!!
I LOVE Kerosene! It has been a blessing. I heat, cook and light with it. If you don't already, please try an Aladdin series blue flame heater, and one of their mantle lamps. It changes everything. Thank you and have a great weekend!
Thank you for the support! I have not tried an Aladdin blue flame heater but it sounds interesting!
After 12 month a battery leak causes the batteries to stuck inside like a rock, I used 2 pillars to try to open it but in vain. Finally I force open it after damaging the aluminum surface badly and the swich to adjust the light levels is not working anymore.
I had a similar issue with batteries. I haven’t been able to get the light working after that. Although I haven’t tried super hard. Overall I feel it’s a battery issue not a flashlight issue.
Where do you carry your wallet when wearing a suit?
Like the HeadgeHog
It’s a nice little tool I like it a lot.
Dude!! I hunt in the mountains of the PNW in the winter. That seems like way too much clothing. 3 layers of gear is for temps below 0.
Personally with wind I would rather have to many layers then not enough. You can always take more off if you have them.
A cheap flintlock is the same price as a cheap AR. If you think otherwise, feel free to say where you're getting your rifles.
The steel and mechanics might be awesome, but the ergonomics must be shit with the naked slim metal rings.
That isn’t the case these are very nice use. They are highly polished.
@@resoluteoutdoors Polished or not, it is just thin metal, ergonomically this is a XIX century design. Good quality scissors of XXI century should have shaped handles covered with molded plastic. I have recenlty bought Wiss scissors and they feel amazing in hand (look at their handles!) and cut like huge nippers. Also Olfa scissors feel very nice at hand and cut amazingly.
How can we prepare our food for freezing without dumping plastic bags and plastic coated freezer paper into our garbage (landfills) over and over and over?
I don’t know. Freezer bags and/or freezer paper are the only ways I am aware of when it comes to freezing meat long term.
If you are serious about this desire then you should research ancient or colonial methods of food preservation. Or watch homesteader channels.
If all citizens in the world did this, the amount of plastic and freezer paper would only amount to a tiny fraction of the waste that governments produce. The waste from our crony capitalistic society sure adds to it, but I would argue that this 'throw away culture' is the result of a broken money. My point is, keep doing what your doing, educate people like myself on how I can be more thoughtful of our environment. But don't worry about the effects on the planet, it produces unwanted stress on a problem we have no control over. And I believe mother nature always has a way to cleanse itself.
The second manner you identify is called "cradling" or "cradle carry."
Thank you!!
Where do you get your first hole in your jeans?
Hey Don gtsy! Great tutorial!
Thank you so much!! gtsy too!
just bought one intend to harvest a deer this weekend, i got traditions deer hunter flintlock w wood stock , out of the box hitting bullseye, its not traditional , has fibre optic sites but my old eyes need them
That’s awesome! Good luck!
@@resoluteoutdoors thx
I love that I stumbled upon this video. My mom solely managed the Buddy’s Jean store from 2004-about when they stopped production in 2016/2017. The production of Buddy’s Jeans was a huge part of our economy in the little town of New Hebron, decades before e-commerce. The Buddy’s brand story is not well-documented, but those jeans have always been made with love in Small Town, America. Buddy Steverson was the founder. Jane, mentioned elsewhere, bought it in the early 2000s. I don’t expect a comeback, but I still hold out hope. Growing up in that store, I wonder what it could have been sometimes if the owners had held on for another 10 years! I’m sure I still have several pairs, too.
Awesome to hear the history! I wish they still made them too. I feel like there is a growing market for quality clothing made in America and if they started again with a strong social media presence they could do great.
I like bibbed overalls, You can load your pockets up and you are not constantly pulling your drawers up. It eliminates the back crack and the bibs give you an extra layer on your core in cold weather. Suspenders work great in small game season when it is warmer outside.
I like the name of the series Resolute Reads 👍🏾. Good to see all is well. Stay Ready! Stay Safe!
Thank you! You as well!! I hope all Is well!
Nice review. Youre one of the few people ive found on youtube to review this knife. Smkw has the same knife on their site for 3.99 but its stamped pakistan. Its a beast for the price. My go to yard work knife
It’s a great knife for the money!
Awesome video. It’s almost impossible to find a belt of this quality anymore, regardless of price. Long live Hanks Belts.
Extremely high quality belts!!
I am a historical enthusiast. I also engage in the fun and educational hobby of reenacting and teaching history of our nation in a engaging and fun manner
That is great. We too often forgot our history.
Loved by drag queens, apparently. I'll stick with made in the USA instead.
What is the purpose of the little shark fin near the handle?
I don’t actually know. I tried to look it up on their site but there is nothing about it. I am assuming it is just for looks. A premium look for a high quality product maybe.
It's a bottle opener, also the ridged part is a nutcracker
I'm retired now and this is something that I think that I would enjoy.
Yes I was thinking about this recently. Having something to grab and eat while organizing the house and adapting to any emergency
Exactly!!
That's enough waffling out of you mate. Dislike.
YES they can t stop you from shooting it you can make powder and anything goes down the barrel
Agreed!!!
Anyone that cannot understand why many people deer hunt must not know the average cost of meat now. Or they are fortunate enough to be able to afford the current prices. Some say it's inhumane to go out and shoot a deer. To me, it's inhumane for cattle to be slaughtered for the meat. The cattle have no chance of survival while, on the other hand, the deer have a good chance of not being killed. Many hunters fail to even see a deer, much less get a chance at killing it. I think I saw the average success rate as being around 41% nation wide.
I am astonished people are anti hunting. I hope this video helped clear up some of their misconceptions.
For me, it's the meat, the memories, the workout. Dont forget it costs a lot of time and money just to get that one buck, but all worth it in the end unless you got skunked that season
The workout is an amazing point too!
Everybody loves deer until they eat your flowers and you run into one with your car.
Since waiting four days to have my request for a return RMA was replied to with questions about "why" i was unhappy and "how do they cut", it was not in my interest to continue more back and forth. I now questioned whether the return would be an issue once I spent another $50 to return them to England, and wait another month or more for the refund. I decided to right off the wasted money completely. The way in which my original request for a refund was handled, I have no further interest in Ernest Wright. My impression of the brand has been irepreprably diminished since Ernest Wright does not consider this defect a defect! Ernest Wright could have resolved this issue simply by sending me an RMA, and a prepaid return label. That was not how customer service treated me.
Dear Mr. Gray, We regret that you have chosen to use social media and third parties to express your concerns rather than communicating directly with us. We believe that resolving this matter amicably is in everyone's best interest, and we would like to propose the following steps: Please provide your bank or PayPal details. We will issue a refund for your purchase immediately, as previously mentioned. If you could inform us of the cost to send the product to another address in Canada, we will cover that expense as well. Once you have received the refund, please return the product to a Canadian address that we will provide. We hope this solution is satisfactory and look forward to receiving your details so we can proceed. With kind regards, Paul
I carry both. One old one new.
The best of both worlds!!
I bought some and was in a waiting list for like a year… well worth it! 👍
They truly are amazing!
I have several BP pistols and rifles all percussion though i just bought my first flinter the exact gun you have there .50 cal. T/C Hawkens i make my own powder so black powder is basically the cheapest way to shoot it only cost me $6.00 a pound so can shoot forever love black powder guns
That’s an awesome skill to have! Nothing like a good smoke pole.
You can make your own black powder. You can make your own bullets. In most states no background checks, No registration, and you can mail order them.
There is a ton of cool perks to black powder gun!!
Absolute independence. With a little work you can even make your own potassium nitrate, charcoal is easy and some places you can even mine your own Sulphur. So long as there are rocks and you can find pee or chicken crap...
Flintlocks are the most useful long term for resupply.
When will you do a full edc pocket dump?
Looks like you have a bodyguard with you.
A great boot!
Glad I have my flintlock too
A person does not need a degree to be a scholar
Great comparison
Awesome suggestions
Because you want to be a man, because the way some women fill out a pair of Daisey Dukes is proof that there is a God and space rocks did not make that. Because there is no way you can just walk by a box of puppies needing a home. Because you would rather wear a worn leather jacket than a tuxedo. Because you would work with a broken spine, bleed all your blood and sweat all your sweat just see the look on your kids face come Christmas Morning when they open their presents, why should you own and shoot a flintlock, because you are a man.
Nothing fun about powder flashing inches from your face.
You do get used to it. It is a learning curve but worth it.
I feel the same way. As my EDC, I've been running that same Buck 345 Vantage Select with my Leatherman Wave (1st gen) for years now. Although I do still carry the SAK Rambler as my key chain knife for the more delicate tasks.
I am partial to my Leatherman wingman personally but all Leatherman products I have used have been solid.
The one thing about flintlocks, is that are great for "tinkering:! Yeah sure, there are "which percussion cap is the one of the week", but nothing beats a nice piece of chert, flint or the latest piece of rock! Caps CAN and HAVE fallen off, leaving you looking at your game's butt!! You can tell a flintlocker by his bare right hand compared to the hair on his other hand ...a badge of pride! Whether a Pennsylvania-school, a Hawken, a Jaeger, a Baker, a Brown Bess/Charleville,, or an English Fowler, there is "a load" yet untried, a "ball/patch combo" to noodle, a "different lock", always a little something! Maybe a "new bag"? a new powder charging tool? And it always brings a smile, a joy, an AH_HAH! And YOU figured it out! (my old load from the '80's fired out oh my DGW kit Pennsylvania rifle was 60 grains FFFg, 1/2 pan of FFFFg, a squared chisel English flint !/2 inch under leather, a .440 ball and .010 ticking patch with 'bear grease'.)
The possibilities are endless you will have a hard time getting board with a flintlock. They are severely underrated!
Some great videos you have on your channel, I’m glad I subscribed. The Chili looks good.
I am thankful for your support! I’m glad you like the videos!
