2019 Ford Fusion Energi Titanium Plug in Hybrid Tour and Review
Tour and review of a 2019 Ford Fusion Energi Titanium. The Energi is Ford Motor Company's plug-in hybrid variant of this mid-sized family sedan.
From an aesthetic standpoint, the Energi offers the same Fusion look we are all accustomed to, refreshed slightly for 2019, the outgoing model year of this vehicle. Exterior highlights include a new grille design, updated full LED headlights/daytime running lights, and mirror puddle lights. From the interior standpoint, the aesthetic is consistent with the rest of this fusion generation, with unique highlights including the Energi specific gauges, and Sport Bucket Seats.

I'm glad I got the regular non plug in hybrid. I thought my battery took up a lot of trunk space, this almost sacrifices the entire space. That would be a deal breaker for me. I average over 55mpg in city. Once I got as high as 84mpg. Don't see too much benefit given the much higher cost for the plug in.
Does an indicator light come on when an oil change is needed???

I'm getting one of these on Tuesday from Carvana only 17,000 miles. Trading in a 2014 Ford Fusion SE Echoboost. This will be my 1st Hybrid of any kind of car too.
You over paid why tf you carvanna don't be dumb, I bet you paid north of 21k bahahaha I only paid 20,300$ before taxes an fees for a titanium hybrid only 6500 miles on it, you got SCREWED 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ji really wouldn't sacrifice that much trunk space for 20 miles of EV range. I would go with the hybrid.
I live 15min from that location lol, small world. I’m buying a 20 hybrid and was wondering if I should get the plug in version. There are a few for sale. They are done with fusions after 20. Don’t know the cost savings when paying for electricity. Thanks man
I’m really thankful for this video! I watched it before deciding to buy my first car (a 2018 fusion Energi Platinum). I like these sorts of videos that are detailed and go through everything since I’m really picky about those things. So far I’ve loved pretty much everything about my car. I bought it earlier this year, certified preowned with 29k miles. I thought about getting a used 2019 model since they are newer but decided I wanted the 2018 so I could get the now discontinued platinum trim. Which I’m really glad I went for since I love the medium soft ceramic colored leather, the stitched leather dashboard, and the self parking. The only things I dislike are the fact that when you connect CarPlay the built in infotainment becomes very difficult to access and some features are actually disabled. Also, I wish the climate controls were completely independent from the screen so that you don’t have to rely on the touchscreen for certain modes and also I wish there were knobs for temperature instead of buttons. Besides that I basically love everything else. I did have serious electrical issues shortly into my ownership due to wires that got stripped off on the frame and were shorting out. Fortunately Ford fixed it under warranty after two attempts but now there’s a loud rattle from them tearing apart my interior. So trying to decide if I’m going to go to the dealership again. Overall though I really do love the car and if you can find a good deal with a good warranty I would go for it!
@SG 100 I got the Ford certified preowned warranty that comes with the certified cars. I think Ford uses a standard warranty that’s something like 3 yr/36k miles bumper to bumper, 6 yr/60k miles powertrain (although I could be mistaken). So since your the car you’re looking at has 33k miles the bumper to bumper original warranty should have ended although in theory you’ll still have coverage on the powertrain. But I would strongly recommend getting a full coverage warranty of some sorts seeing the problems I had. Certified preowned is usually the easiest way to go since the dealership has to go over a list of things to inspect for the car and if something doesn’t meet it (exp: tires are worn) they have to replace them but they also detail the car and include fords 1 yr/12k mile bumper to bumper and 7 yr/100k mile powertrain warranty. The other thing I would suggest if you haven’t looked into it is actually looking into buying a 2018 or 2017 fusion Energi platinum. They’re slightly cheaper since they’re older but they actually have more features like fords active park assist, diamond stitched leather with leather dashboard and a few more that Ford discontinued for 2019 as I think that’s when they started wanting to discontinue the fusion. The only main downside to the 2018/2017 models as opposed to 2019 is the EV only range is a few miles less.
how do you feel about this car a year and a half later?
Still love it good luck trying to find one with low miles an a decent price a year or so ago you can find one with 6500 miles on it for only 20,300$ you are going to pay up now for them cause bs covid an inventory shortage. 21k$ that has 80k miles on it!!! 28 29k with 10k or lower miles on it before taxes an fees!!

Do you have to charge it when the lithium battery is empty?
Just bought this car in the same color, Platinum White Tri Coat paint. Got 1,500 miles on it and I really like the car in a lot of ways except the lack on truck space and short EV mode range. Initially, I was only getting 30 mpg, so I started pluggin it in, it's up to 42 mpg and still climbing. So time will tell I guess on how much I plug it in, or just drive it as a hybrid. I can't believe they are stopping production of this beautiful car, that's what happens when you have overpaid clueless CEO's making important decision in a company, these mental giants will be handing over all their sedan customers to the import companies. Real smart. This type of counterproductive thinking sound familiar? Glad I was able to get one of the last of these cars.

Ford refreshed the Fusion once again in 2019 which got rid of the chrome bar all the way across. only the 2017- 2018 has the chrome bar (and is one of the best looking fusions imo cause I own a 2017 lol).
would this be a good patrol car for security ? The hybrids got now are horrible, sitting idle sucks gas more then my Jeep... even with the battery full the engine still runs (no ac or heater on) kinda a joke if you ask me...
This is definitely the best bang for the buck in terms of features, comfort, efficiency and range. Don't sleep on it!
Just picked one up 3 weeks ago. LOVE IT !!!! Avg. 78.0 mpg. 400 miles on the same tank of fuel it had when I picked it up. Gauge is just above 1/2 !!

2 quick questions, do you have a hood mat under the hood from the factory, mine does not. Also, after it uses the plug in power, is there a way to show the battery in the display at all in hybrid mode? my 18 was able to but cant seem to find a way to show it on my 19.
I personally have a liner thing under my hood on my 18 Energi. And as for the battery display you CAN enable it to show the battery percentage after the plug in portion runs out. I think it’s under display settings under battery display.
Eric, i noticed when you enter your vehicle and start the car. Your lane keep assist indicator was displayed. I just got a 2019 Energi. However, my lane keep keeps defaulting to off on the next engine start, unless i use a MY KEY. (Which is worthless for me) Could you tell me if you are using My KEY. Thanks, no body at ford can understand what im trying to ask??? And BTW, the the microphones are part of the noise canceling system. Great review BTW...
Bill, appreciate the kind words. I do not use a MyKey, my suggestion would be to look under vehicle settings in the left gauge cluster and see if there are any lane keep settings you can mess with to address the problem. Worst case, the lane keep is easy to toggle with the button on the turn signal stalk.
Could a spare wheel fit above the battery?

No room for spare tire in the "rear glove compartment" of the Ford Fusion Energi. It comes with a air compressor and tire sealant as a replacement.
Pressing the plug cover closed with your finger on the indented circle from start to finish will swing the door into place and securely close it reliably.

The amount of decontenting for 2019 is honestly really interesting and this video is a good example of it. The change from a nice dual tone horn to a cheap single tone horn and the omission of the trunk handle were the only ones I was aware of, but the exterior mirror surrounds have changed too. Prior to 2019 they were a piano black ring to match the pillars, but they moved to a cheaper textured plastic around the glass. I can see that they're trying to save costs in the last few years of production, but I'm puzzled by the things they chose to get rid of.
I completely agree that Ford is moving in a cut costing direction and overall their vehicle do feel cheaper compared to even a couple years ago (2016 fusion). As for the rhyme or reason, I'm not quite sure.
AGreeed! I own a 2015 fullyloaded titanium and we're in the market for a 2019 for my wife.. No metal gas and break pedals, no 12V AC plug in the rear, no glossy piano plastic no front parking sensors and self parking.. they keep cutting these things to bring the msrp down.. I guess 2017 platinum is a better buy than 2019.
But honestly tell me another car sub under 40k you are going to find these features plus taxes an fees bet you can't now there 40k an up you can't even find ventilated seats or adaptive cruise control on a 40k vehicle
I am sort of perplexed by this comment. My mother has a 2016 and I have a 2019. Both are SE trims, no additional options. Both of us agree the 2019 has a far superior interior. The 2019 has the same trunk handle as the 2016. The horn does sound different by only a faint difference. I'll have to check the mirror surrounds...neither of us have never noticed a difference. The 2019 has an actual screen nicely built into the console. This makes the backup camera actually usable, the 2016 is so small it's useless. The new rotary knob takes up less space and is easier to use than the older shifter. It also goes straight into park when you turn the car off. This also allows for bigger cup holders and more useful storage space. The materials on the 2019 console feel better and easier to clean than the 2016; the older gloss piano black trim looks great brand new, not so much after awhile. Smudges very easily. The 2016 I believe has 6 speakers(could be wrong) but the 2019 has 9. The 2019 has rear vents and rear armrest; neither on the 2016. Not to mention standard tech. 2019 SE came standard with lane departure, adaptive cruise control, emergency brake assist, voice controls, navigation, dual power seats. The 2016 SE either didn't offer these or were optional. I dunno, but given the respective cost of each model brand new, the 2019 gave you more tech and a better interior.
