That’s slick as hell.. I have never seen a model kit like that one. Do you have a email? Would like to seen you some photos of my builds
Thank you for the motivation… next kit I build I will be using this technique… where do you get your foam from?
Hobby Lobby. Thanks 👍
@@DanDModels cool.. Thanks the paint jobs are next level…
Absolutely incredible 💯🔥🙌🏾
Thank you 👍
Wow, cool paint job.....
Thank you 👍
Beutiful work Dan!
Thank you 👍
That is one gorgeous wagon!
Thank you 👍
The only thing missing is a dome light. Any suggestions on what can be used for a scale dome light? Thanks.
I used the dome light that came with the kit. Thanks 👍
Thank you!!
Thanks for the quick and easy tip!!
Thank you 👍
Thank you for sharing this video. You have some great ideas, and your model building skills are other worldly. I am so impressed with this 49 Ford. What an inspiration you are to others. I can hardly wait to see your next build. 😅
Thank you 👍
I just watched the video on headliners, and I was thinking how beautiful the flames came out - and I'm not much of a flame guy! This idea with the masking and using a Pyrex dish is a neat idea - makes me want to try it. I won't be able to get anywhere near this kind of result, not being able to use an airbrush and limited to brushes and rattle cans ..... but it gives me ideas!! Somewhere recently, I saw an idea that if you put a fine layer of the base color or clear over the masking material, it helps to seal the edges and reduce/eliminate the bleed-under.
Cool! Lots better than simply painting a plain roof .... I think, no matter whether I foam up the rest of the interior, a foam headliner will be a must now, in cars that have a headliner (many are simple painted metal from the factory)! On the diamond pattern (this is the third video in a row on this method), I'd think you could go in and put a daub of paint in the centers to simulate a small stud - chrome or contrasting color..
I forgot - these videos have earned a subscribe!! 👍🏻
Nifty!! I like the diamond pattern, and the hole punch idea is fantastic!! (And the piping idea from the 49 Ford is great - I've got SO many old charger cables that no longer work... Same color, contrasting color, the limits of the imagination is the limits of what can be done!!) Only real complaints I have is 1) here, the foam seems a bit thick; would using a thinner foam help that? And 2) this is especially for the 49 Ford - there's no delineation of where the doors would open, and no hardware (window cranks, interior door handles). The delineation would go a LONG way to make the interior more realistic, IMHO... And as far as the stitches being where only we know they're there, I've found that even the tiniest unseen details help the overall illusion of realism; there's no glaring "toy" appearance like you can get with just slapping a kit together. This is DEFINITELY a method I'm going to employ on my upcoming builds. The added detail will look SO cool! Thanks!
Great! Something I can do with my issues with the smells of things! (Can't do ANYTHING like the ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL job done on the paint job!! Anyone who hasn't seen that has GOT to go see it!! That is a work of art!!) I'll be the local Hobby Lobby Tuesday morning - I'll have to make a trip in! That is a GREAT idea! And the idea of the saw putting in "stitching" - BRILLIANT. One tip I've found - to replicate either leather or vinyl in seats, do the same thing as the vinyl tops - use masking tape! I get a piece big enough to cover with a bit extra, then carefully press in the folds and seams with my fingernails, starting in the middle - be careful you don't tear it! No need to get it smooth - it adds to the texture. Then paint over it as you would normally. The result is great!
As a general rule, I don't care for striping like this. B U T . This is an AWESOME work of art!! I just wish that a) I could handle the smell of enamels (gives me migraines), and b) that my home was airbrush-friendly.. I'm reduced to brush paint and going into the porch with rattle-can... ☹️
Thank you 👍
Wow 😮
Thank you 👍
thanks buddy
thanks for making this, totally gonna do the diamond pattern in my current car!
Thank you 👍
A tip I use is from building Aircraft models and that's dipping the whole clear part in Future floor polish. It can be used on all glass parts including windshields and rear glass. Just dip whole piece and wick off the excess by touching it's edge on a paper towel and let dry under a plastic container to prevent dust. It leaves the part crystal clear. You can see it done on aircraft building videos.
I found if I use Tamiya clear red (X-27) on a chromed taillight mount, it wouldn't fog, and I've RARELY had any light come out. If it's a bare plastic mount, I put Tamiya chrome silver (X-11) on the mount, then after that dries I use the clear red to "glue" it in place. Again, I've had no issues. If it's going in an open mount, I'll put red clear on the back, then a coat of the chrome silver. On headlights, I put a coat of Tamiya clear gloss (X-22) in the chrome bezel, then the headlight. If it's bare plastic, I coat it with chrome silver, then use clear to mount it. If I'm using clear or colored resin, I do not touch it with bare fingers until I have a coat of Tamiya clear on it - talk about making the resin pop! (The oils on your fingers can cause a permanent fogging that can only be cured by sanding..) Speaking of resin parts - check out VCG by Reese dot com - the guy is a one-man shop just north of Denver, Colorado. He 3D resin prints a variety of parts for 1/24 and 1/25 kits, including engines, transmissions, driveline parts and suspension, engine parts, off-road and drag racing parts, wheels and tires - at a reasonable price! He also cleans up the parts instead of everything still on the printing mounts. The level of detail FAR exceeds ANYTHING in the kits!! (No, I'm not paid to say this - I am THAT impressed with his products.)
Great work, but what do you use for the interior door handles once the foam is installed?
Did you use an airbrush?
Yes
Wow!! Very cool build. Great tutorial as well
Thank you 👍
Great tutorial! Now I have more tips on seats
Thank you 👍
Great tip Thanks for sharing
I’ve never been found of curbside builds, but you do some beautiful work.
I like building both ways. I like the curbside builds as I can spend more time and focus on the paint. Thanks 👍
It really did turn out beautiful. Great work.
Thank you 👍
Just found you Dan. Amazing Work!

Thank you so much for the tips! I never would have thought of using foam!
Thanks 👍

Thanks 👍
that looks like real car dam you are great at this how did you get this stuff to do this what a mind blowing work you are doing I never seen nothing like this I have no words for this kind work
Thank you 👍
wow great work you do to a model car how did you learn that work
where do you get that foam at love your work please reply thank you
I get the foam at Hobby Lobby. Thanks 👍
Meaning as you completely covered the whole seat with the foam, why not cut a small section out of the middle so the seat and the door panels weren't so tight? I think it would have looked a lot more realistic.
Can the foam be painted? Thanks
Yes, I have used createx to paint the foam many times and it works fine. Thanks 👍
Great, thank you
Hey where you buy the chrome silver? I can’t find that brand
The flake I got years ago off of ebay. I think tcp global still carries the Custom shop flake.
