Both sound pretty similar maybe the Artist had a bit more clarityโฆโฆ.do you think the Artist is worth the extra cost compared to the Harley Benton Thunderbird ?
Gibson flat.
Thank you my friend. That helped a lot๐
Thanks for watching and commenting ๐๐ป๐๐ป
Both nice guitars, very similar on bridge, preferred both PUs on the epi
Gibson makes very nice PUs, Joey. Considering the price difference (X5), it's to be expected.
Preferred the DG, good comparison though
Thanks!
WHAT was the name of that FF song?
This is a call?
@@650thunderbird It is or you're asking me?
@@DMSProduktions It's an attempt to sound similar.
@@650thunderbird I know, but I didn't know what that song was called, cos basically I can't UNDERSTAND a word Dave Grohl is saying in it lol!
About a BEE'S dick in it! Epi was a little bit brighter! TAKE the covers off! That will open up (sic) the sound a bit more!
When I break a string.
@@650thunderbird Haha ok. Esp those Bullbuckers, I found them a bit muddy, but once I took the covers off, they were much better! They're only thin pot brass!
@@DMSProduktions How do the covers affect the tone?
@@650thunderbird More treble response & less mud!

What was the gold overdrive pedal? Reminds me of the Boss SD-1.
The ๐ก๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป, at the end?
@@650thunderbird No, the 3rd from last, I can't read any branding on it.
@@trioguitar They aren't real pedals, Joey, just Amplitube's rendition of them. The only real one is the Horseman.
@@650thunderbird Oh, of course, I should have read more carefully! So it probably is emulating the SD-1.
@@trioguitar I guess so, but I am no expert.
I have the GT90, and single coil mode has less windings than a standard P90 and the ceramic magnets make them seem a little higher output but slightly brittle...I replaced the ceramic mags in the neck pup with Alnico 5s which smoothed out the tone and now sounds like a beefy strat neck pup, basically an underwound P90, very bell like and clear with some girth. Also added treble bleed which adds clarity at lower volumes...Super Awesome guitar.
๐๐ป๐๐ป
I agree on all counts, with the exception that the electronics need to be replaced. PUs, no.
Sounds great. I havenโt played a Sire before but would absolutely love to.
They're pretty good! ๐๐ป๐๐ป

The difference between the Artist and the HB in output.
@@650thunderbird Was pretty much the same!
Does Thomann take a ton of pictures of the guitar before they send it like Sweetwater? Not that they probably would've captured that in a picture probably but you never know
No, they don't take any pics of individual guitars. Except for when I got the latest HB Double neck and it was used for the main ad photo shoot. They use generic pics for brands other than Harley Benton, unless it's a one off Custom shop thing, I guess.
@@650thunderbird was hoping maybe they did, but everyone is going to point fingers

Very similar. HB feeds back a little more. Location means it's an Artist buy for me, but I'd be happy with the HB.

Beautiful looking guitar. How deep is the fracture?
I can't tell and don't want to mess with it, Joey. It's hard to see with the naked eye and I needed to really mess around with lighting and camera to photograph it. My thumb found it!
OUCH! I was in Coleman's in the city Monday, my housemate took me out for the day, I tried a USA 335 @ $8K+ and I was not impressed, sounded dead as! Neck was ok. The 60s LPST however was perfect, & resonated like dogs balls! The 61 SG played nicely too but the neck shape did not play nice with my hands!
Thomann is waiting on the UPS investigation, before making its determination. They have always been fair with me. ๐๐ป๐๐ป Guitars are funny things, price doesn't always matter, but can.
@@650thunderbird Yeah UPS are useless buggers! I got an amp once delivered by them & it came BROKEN! (Needless to say, I GOT my $ back & got to KEEP the amp!)
@@DMSProduktions Swings and roundabouts, mate. They sent me a Sire with a broken neck and sent me a replacement, told me to keep the broken one.
@@650thunderbird Well spare parts I guess. WAS it a G style or F style guitar?
@@DMSProduktions ruclips.net/video/bBbIqWFkY40/ะฒะธะดะตะพ.htmlsi=0WZCpMZ9McgVo8gE&t=1
Ah man, that's shit, sorry to see that ๐ข๐ณ
๐๐ป๐๐ป
I got both of them! I would love to enjoy this Revstar soooo much because it was (a bit) lighter, it looked gorgeous and it was a more "prestigious" brand on the headstock (there, I said it)... but in the end I sent it back to Thomann and kept my $170 Harley Benton. I only changed the whole electronics and replaced the pick ups for a set of Bare Knuckle because no matter what I tried the neck was way louder than the bridge. Believe it or not, this Gold Top is simply the best guitar I ever own, and I play for 35 years... At this point the price makes no sens!
Thanks for your comment! Funny that, the differential between bridge and neck outputs, quite a few of mine have it. ๐๐ป๐๐ป
HB definitely holds its own up against the Fender (beautiful colour by the way). I'll mention one thing I noticed, in the middle position, the HB had more highs than the Fender, really jumps out at you, like it's got a treble boost or something.
Hi Joey, I wouldn't pay too much attention to this as a test. They both could probably do with some PU height adjustments. ๐๐ป๐๐ป Thanks for watching!
What do you think of Sire pickups' tone spectrum when you rotate within 1-10 ? I can barely hear the difference between 10 and 2; then the tone changes at 1. Doesn't feel very sensitive. Great video btw

Thanks for watching. I haven't even tried it, to be honest. You are probably correct, though ๐๐ป๐๐ป
Both sound good, BUT the Fender had more mids all round,
๐๐ป๐๐ป
No contest. CV sounds like a Tele, Artist does not.
๐๐ป๐๐ป
Liked squire bridge artist neck๐๐ค
๐๐ป๐๐ป
I love that gold top....but...I wouldn't mind me that black flying V either!
V is awkward in the lap position, Joey. ๐๐ป๐๐ป
I've orders the non relic version should arrive by end of October im pretty excited. Thanks for doing the video. Helps affirm my decision ๐
Thanks for watching! ๐๐ป๐๐ป
So cool. I have the non relic sea foam green one on pre order. Sounds awesome, thank you ๐
๐๐ป๐๐ป Your welcome!
Looks very similar to a brand called Vintage.
๐๐ป๐๐ป As does Harley Benton.
I know the Vintage models you refer to, the main difference however is the Vintage hardware is relic'd as well, I tried one recently in Dublin. Where as the Artists hardware is all new!
@@davidhowe6023 Vintage has both, new and reliced. I worked at a store that sold them.
They are both BRIGHT for Epis! Both do sound a bit different. ARE you using 2 mics on your amp cos I can def here a stereo space around the sound!
Yes, you are correct, again! You have some set of ears on you, mate! Should I not use two mics? ๐๐ป๐๐ป
@@650thunderbird No, 2 mics are fine, as LONG as you keep them IN phase with each other or make sure they are totally separated in the stereo field, so they don't cancel each other out!
@@650thunderbird On another note, my housemate treated me out to a day in Melb, & we went to the only remaining music shop in the Melb CBD: Coleman's Music in Elizabeth St. I played about 4 Gibsons, & 1 equiv Epi LP! ALL were different! I started out on an $8K+ ES335. it did NOT impress me, felt stiff and dead in my hands. Tried a '61 SG, now THAT was nice, really resonant, but I didn't like the neck taper. Then a '60 sepc LPS, now THAT was a nice guitar, apart from the strings being a little high, I couldn't fault it, really resonant & the neck felt good in my hands. That was a tea burst colour. Then tried an ESP, nah just nah, neck thru model, ~ $5K, was totally DEAD! Then I tried a CSB LPS, 50s spec, it was ok, but nowhere near as easy to play, OR as resonant than the 60s spec guitar! For shits'n'giggles, I then tried the equivalent Epi LPS in CSB, it was NOT a million miles away from the 60s LPS! It was decent, playability was not bad, and the body was quite resonant. GOOD for what it was. $1260. BUT it was NOT $3K different! The 60s spec LPS was $4500! Cheers!
@@DMSProduktions Sounds like a good day was had! I have a disappointing story on the DG 335, which is ongoing :(
@@DMSProduktions I may have stuffed something up in editing in Resolve.
Squier was a lot brighter than the Artist! \m/
๐๐ป๐๐ป
Better harley benton in sound more balanced and more presence.
๐๐ป๐๐ป
Great specs for the price with a nitro finish and steel frets absolute bargain enjoy Thunderbirdโฆ..Im tempted to order the relic white version as the non relic versions donโt even appear on the Artist UK site yet. The SG type copy from Artist looks a belter too ๐๐
Artist are a little "iffy" when it comes to US and UK. I think it's because of their copyright laws, particularly when it comes to Gibson shapes. Last I looked, there were only 3 (nitro non-relic) available for delivery in October, in AU.
Rockin' 'Tele'! \m/
It's a sweet thing! ๐๐ป๐๐ป
Very Cool, Thankyou. Stunning Guitar that I am very interested in. Artist Guitars have some awesome Guitars in their Range and these 2024 Models look Outstanding. I have a few Artist Guitars already and they are all SO Amazing, this may have to be my next one. All the Best. Cheers
It could be! They have the other non relic-ed in nitro too, same specs though. Artist have come a long way, friend! ๐๐ป๐๐ป
These Artist guitars look really impressive! Especially for the price. The relic job is decent, great specs, and they sound great... hope I get the chance to try one someday! Rock on my friend :)
Thanks for checking in , Rich! ๐๐ป๐๐ป They really are a cut above other budget brands, IMO.
That unboxing bliss... surely exciting โ๏ธ๐น
For a time, it was, and then.....
I like the look of that, sweet. I noticed that they're doing a preorder for a Pink Paisley one, so I'm very interested in what you think of this one.
I'm half-way through a review, Dunsy, let's just say I'm impressed!
