You do such a brilliant illustration between Harry Potter and the Bible. It is great wow you draw the parallels, as a Christian however I take exception when we are able to share this imagery with our youth groups adults etc.. Because Harry Potter was not written with that intention. Infact there is a slippery slope that draws Christians to blurry the line of fact and fiction, light and dark. Wizards, magic, spells etc..is ABSOLUTELY NOT BIBLICAL. Infact all through scripture it is clearly show how God views the dark and those opposed to Him. In the Old Testament God had people slain for worshipping other gods. Love ya Bro but I ask you seriously do a true comparison between the 2 but from the eyes of Christ.

It’s not often that people say such powerful things that make me tear up. Thank you.

At the end of the day its not about being Good vs Evil and learning good morals. The Bible should be any Christian's go to, to get the 101 on what God finds abomnable, how he detests disobedience and participation in the arts of the occult. Sin, death, hell and the grave is very real yet few people are prepared to tackle these issues directly. It's about believers and non-believers (good people don't go to heaven, Believers do). I am worried that as a species, being the jewel in the Crown of God's creation we do not use the correct and proper yardstick to measure what we look like in God's eyes. God is Holy and He is the ultimate judge. Hardly anyone I speak to read the 10 commandments anymore. While it is true that the 10 Commandments cannot save you from burning in the lake of fire, using these commandments as a yardstick, is very much like looking in the mirror in the morning and wanting to make sure you look your very best before leaving your home. The10 Commandments combined with the fact that Jesus did not come to abolish the law but ADD TO THE LAW actually points out how high God's standards are and that nothing we try to do for Him out of our own accord can even begin to wipe the slate clean as our deeds and offerings are like filthy rags to him. It is literally the high way with God or the bye way without him. He will not accept half measures. Knowing how evil mankind is, how our hearts deceive us on almost a daily basis and that we have sinned before we've even used the loo in first thing in the morning, Jesus HAD to atone for our sins being the spotless lamb that had no sin. The fact that JESUS had to live amongst mere mortals and be crucified should give us a very accurate idea of how serious our sins are for God to have taken desperate measures to give mankind a second chance through grace and faith that produces a regenerated mind through reading scripture and a changed heart, Repenting from your sins and trusting Jesus 100%. I leave you with one question to ask yourself during the day as you make different decisions: Is your final decision Good or God? Our version of good cannot be compared to living a life of holy ness and following the 10 commandments he has set out for us to observe and obey so that we love what he loves and hates what he hates. This can only lead to individuals who strive to be more and more like Jesus everyday. So whilst I believe that the Harry Potter books teaches children important morals, honour and respect for other people, young kids should be taught what the Bible says first especially when it comes to issues like Witchcraft and Halloween. P.S, I too was "hooked" on Harry Potter.

My favorite comparison is: In The Chamber of Secrets, Harry and Ron venture into the Forbidden Forrest to find the spiders. As they depart, Harry commands light from his wand (Lumos) and they follow the spiders down the path with only the small light from Harry's wand. There comes the point when they must choose to leave the path or the loose the trail of spiders. Recalling the words of Hagrid, they venture off the path and encounter danger, but the enchanted car shows up to save them by blinding their enemy with its headlights. Everytime I read it I think immediately of "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." (Psalm 119:105)

Luke 16:16 - some commentators say a more accurate translation is 'and everyone uses violence towards it'. That seems to offer a more readily understandable meaning, but is not a strongly supported translation apparently...
