Velcro straps work well
you think this still applies to the 2024 stuff?
@darksidezeke if you're having the same issue then yes. I actually plan on doing this to my 2023 350 this winter
Thanks man for this video! I finally got round to doing this on my Husky TE300 and it works great. I've now got a clutch engagement point that feels more like a trials bike rather than having to pull it all the way to the bar!!! 🙌
@supertedholty1053 thank you for giving an undate!! I love how it worked also glad it is for you also
i had trouble putting back into hole. it would place back in
@TheRicherThanClub hmmm ...was the washer too big on the OD?
@@thedirtdigger5990 that i dont know. Its as if takes wayyy too much pressure to push back in.
@TheRicherThanClub i do know it is noticeably more then normal but it worked great still
mine I have to pull the lever all the way for the clutch to work and once the bike is running the bike will not go into neutral
@ParkerMunroe if you do this it will not have to go all the way to grip to disengage. Yes ktm has designed them to not go into neutral while running, well atleast it's very hard to. I've been told it's to help with not getting a false neutral
Pretty disturbing how common this is
@JamesyMusial14 yeah for sure and worse part is the rid bearing locked up about 12 hrs later! Luckily they had a forged piston in it so it didn't do anymore damage then just the rod
@@thedirtdigger5990 dang, absolute garbage. Would be nice to see KTM either recall these things or at least acknowledge they’re shit. Only a matter of time before someone dies from these bikes locking up on a jump face.
@JamesyMusial14 exactly!! I love ktms but these new 2 strokes are junk and I couldn't buy one
How far down into the gearbox do I have to go to get to this. On one hand Looking at the parts diagram it looks like it just could come out on the other I wouldn’t be surprised if you have to tear down the whole trans to get to this. Does anyone know?
@coleschowe7706 it's very easy to get to this. All you need to do is remove the small outer clutch cover and then remove the clutch pressure plate and that's it.
@@thedirtdigger5990 Fantastic! Thank you very much for the reply. Ill be trying this asap.
@@coleschowe7706 feel free to reach out again if u have any more questions
@@thedirtdigger5990 one last question, where did you get this washer from?
@coleschowe7706 I actually a hardened washer that was perfect size in my junk drawer lol. But u could order the washer from rockymountainatvmc.com. it would be the same as what comes on the bike
My ktm 250 sxf gets warm and then the clutch just won’t do anything, I’m not sure if that’s what’s being explained as I’m quite novice but I’m trying to learn and fix my bike so I’m doing research. Basically I can ride it and the clutch it like kinda spongy, but once it heats up I will pull it in shift to 1st and like hear it shift, but when I let go and give it throttle nothing happens. The first time it happened my friend just said shift it too second so I did and it went to second and I drove it back the our truck just to get it there, but after that it would do the same thing when I would shift to any gear, then when I got home and it was cooled I just started it and shifter too first and it worked just fine. The next time it happened it didn’t shift to any gear and I had to go grab it from the desert. Sorry for such a long comment, and a pre thank you for anyone that responds time!
It has a hydraulic clutch
@Gage.999 the bike I did this too was a 16 250sxf. In your circumstance I would start by tearing apart the clutch and seeing if the basket and inner hub are notched up real bad, then I would replace the fluid in the clutch line and if all of that is good and doesn't help then you will have to split the cases to see if you have a bent shift fork. If you have any more questions feel free to ask!
@@thedirtdigger5990 Thank you so much, as soon as I get home imma do these, I will update you.
@@Gage.999 sounds good!!
No issues with the clutch slipping due to added forces trying to disengage the clutch while the lever is in its resting position?
@@Channel-io1di none at all! The clutch worked perfect
@@thedirtdigger5990 I think I'm gonna do this. But I think there's some risk in choosing too thick of a washer where it would make the clutch slip. But I haven't seen the inside yet I am just assuming it limits how far back the rod can move toward the slave? And the slack is taken up by a spring in the slave.
@@thedirtdigger5990 but my clutch disengages fine, I barely pull it with 1 finger and I can slip the clutch. It just feels like it doesn't fully disengage enough. It's almost impossible to shift in to neutral with it running. This is my FE501 husqvarna. My FC450 husqvarna doesn't drag at all. It can be in first on a stand with the clutch in and the back tire doesn't even spin. Seriously. My 501, even when hot has tons of drag.
@Channel-io1di I didn't like where my clutch disengaged and this fixed it. I use to have to pull the lever all the way in to rhe bars and now I only have to pull it in halfway
@Channel-io1di yes I wouldnt go too thick, I mentioned in the video I believe in the comments how thick I went and would only go a tad more but it's not necessary to go more
Thanks
@@xanoxxxx your welcome!
Greatings from Portugal 🇵🇹 O have the dam problema with my 300 exc… If i use 2 oem washes, wil it work ?
@xanoxxxx yes it should I believe
I had this happen to me via 3-rd steel plate from the inside of the pack deforming and making it into spring not unlike the pressure plate spring. Essentially it would defeat any input from the rider's hand. Very annoying. I ended up swapping all steel plates for a new set. Problem solved.

How much drone is there in the cab?
Sometimes I can hear a bit of drone but it's not bad. I have another video of me driving around if you'd like to hear it inside the cab
That is exactly the problem I had. Thanks so much it works great now ❤❤
Awesome! Great to hear, happy carting
If you pay attention you'll notice when the bike is nice and hot and ready to ride the clutch won't drag as much. Its The fluid that causes this. All the bikes are this way. I have yet to see someone warm their bike up properly. Instead they will ride it cold then blame the bike.
Not true. I'm big on proper bike warm up. When im riding moto at anytime the clutch lever had to be pulled all the way in to disengage, and yes the lever was properly adjusted. When I did this mod it worked perfect!
@@thedirtdigger5990 Try measuring the temp of your bike and you will find that your bike is less than a 165° 2 stroke operating ranges between 165 and 185. Is when you will have the least amount of clutch drag and it is when the bike will have the most power.
@donaldblank8873 my bike is 4 stroke and im sure it's above 165 but I will check it for shits and giggles. For the entire 20 minute moto it would do this, until I did this mod
@@thedirtdigger5990 I also have done this mode. I'm just explaining that it's the oil that causes the clutch drag. Ask any mechanic he will tell you the same thing. The warmer the bike the less the drag. That's all, just trying to be helpfull. And change your clutch fluid regularly. Fluid breaks down quickly and causes the clutch to get mushy. It gets very hot when in use.
@donaldblank8873 completely agree with that but the only drag I experience is when first taking off it will drag a bit. And yes the oil needs changed a couple of times a year.
I had a brand new rekluse torque core drive manual clutch installed by the ktm dealer and it drags. Its kindof hard to start any gear besides neutral. Im going to try this to get it to disengage more with out the lever being pulled so tight against the handle bars
Did u have the manual output cylinder?
@@thedirtdigger5990 Im not sure since I did not do the work. But I will probably be tearing it apart at some point
@gotdirt66 ok. Its the part on the side of the engine that pushs the pushrod to disengage the clutch. I've seen rekluse makes a manual adjustable one, never tried one. This trick had would great for me so I had no reason to do anything else.
I have the same issue with mine. Done 13 hours. Looks like the piston ring caught the power valve. Looks like yours also caught the ring?
The powervalve didn't look like the ring caught it but it's possible
@@thedirtdigger5990 on the RHS of the power valve when your setting the Z height it looks like the carbon is polished off. This is what I’m seeing in mine.
@@J4M54UK actually I had to polish that part because some of the aluminum chunks of piston had messed it up and lodged it open

Change out the piston now to avoid it, get a forged pistonn if you look up JBub Ktm on facebook he has the fix for this. If u watch my other video of splitting the cases you'll see it even broke the cases
manufacturer error or lack of maintenance I wonder?
I think the piston hit the crank. There's been quite a few of the 250s and 300s having that issue
Good to know, thanks.
@@mitchellmorrison4233 you're welcome
Dang
My thoughts also
Great advise, does the rod come out clutch or slave side?
Either side but I took it out from clutch side to do this mod
What is so sad about this whole story, is that if they would have recognized the problem and paid to get the head back and installed proper exhaust valves and made this right for you, your video might be about praising this great company and then they would get more business. It would be free advertising for them.
Exactly!
Good video i usually get my h2ads feom AutoZone they come with a warranty i got some ford 5.4 heads and 8ne broke a camshaft so i took it back to AutoZone and got full refund ran great for about 3 weeis and the the camshaft broke and took out yhe entire head

Ola. Acha que posso tentar com duas anilhas oem de 1 mm? Em vez de 1,9mm com 2 mm ficaria bom tambem?
Sorry no translate button so i dont understand
How do you get the pushrod out? Do you have to unscrew the throwout bearing on the clutch side, or can you just pull it out slave cyllinder side without removing the clutch cover?
You have to remove the small clutch cover and then remove the pressure plate. After you remove the pressure plate the rod is right there and just slides out
@@thedirtdigger5990 Thanks. Appreciate it.
@@rassy7 your welcome
You could pull the rod from the slave side but wouldn’t have access to the washer

Measure the one that is in the bike now and from there you should know
coming from experience.... tilt your engine! I removed the connector as per the video and the rubber cracked from the inside and I got a misfire from the spark jumping through the crack to the engine instead of the spark plug
Definitely gotta be careful but I've never had an issue in the last 7 years of doing this
Then it needed replaced anyway. If that rubber is so dry rotted it cracked from that simple bend. Then you’re lucky it happened and you replaced it. I work on these ktm”s every single day. If you’re doing it another way than this video you are doing it wrong and wasting your time. This is exactly how ktm/husky describes it to us dealer techs

@@danielhicks5031 hose? Are you talking about the spark plug wire?
The valves should be resurfaced when doing a complete valve job, just part of the process. If not resurfaced the exhaust valve will damage the exhaust seat. The 3 angle valve job refers to the valve seat not the valve. Always beware when the seller says something like "valve guides & seats replaced when necessary" because there will never be a situation that requires it. That company/ individual is just taking a salvage yard head, cleaning it up a bit then reselling the used unit as a rebuilt head. Con artist & a crook.
How has this worked out? The in tank filter has never looked damaged, split or cracked. Even AFTER seeing where it is leaking I cannot see any visual sign. Are you SURE you had a bad pump? Also, I was concerned that the filter does filter out the residue from the carbon brushes and you will have a failed relief valve - have you had any issues?
I think my pump was bad but not positive. I put over 100hrs on this setup when i sold the bike and the next owner has put about 50hrs on it that im aware of with zero issues
Hello there, can i use this video on my channel? Any comment? Thankss
Sure you can!! Only comment I have really is never use cruise control in the rain or rainy situations, as we almost learned the hard way
Curious is it reliable?
Yes, as long as you dont buy Texas Speed valve springs. Not sure about the rest of their products but I've heard my valve spring from isnt the first ones to break. When I asked tsp about why it broke they told me i need to replace them every year
